  Did born-in's have the capacity to "test their faith"?

  2 corinthians 13: 5a - 5 examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.. this verse just comes at me like a locomotive.. to examine something is to truly use my mental capacities and to look at something objectively.. how do i accomplish this, even now?.

  i was raised in an organization that controlled my information and used fear of rejection as well as my need for approval to "inculcate" the "truth" into me.. by that right, i (and all born-ins) do not have the ability to examine our faith (as a jw).. there will always be an artificial pull either for or against the society (whether we are aware of it or not).. free will has been comprimised; therefore our "faith to our creator" has been tainted and cannot be judged as worthy or unworthy.. of course many of us have regained our ability to discern and look at things objectively.. but i believe that we will never be able to truly look at the watchtower organization without a slant.. not to say the conclusions we come to regards to the organization are not valid (because they are and have been validated).

  my point is that the organization has no right to judge and ostracize any born-in for leaving and even for speaking out.. they broke us, and now they are demonizing us for the things we did in that broken state.

  Someone quoted on the forums here and I will reiterate it:

  "Absolute faith corrupts as absolutely as absolute power."

  The GB wants you to have absolute faith in them and their word that they are 'spirit-directed' (same as spirit-inspired imo) by God. They not only want you to have absolute faith, but they demand it. Anything less would be considered a 'brazen attitude' and should be quickly dealt with judicially.

  What pains me is seeing my mother, my grandmother, my uncles and aunts, cousins, siblings, believe this shit hook line and sinker. Well, they're going to sink alright, as sad it is to say that, they will go to their grave believeing a fairytale and have wasted their lives pushing literature from a publishing house that have crackpot old geezers directing.

  My mother made a comment to me last night that she hopes she won't have to die before Armageddon comes. I said, you will, as will I. At least know that you have lived a good life before you die. She wasn't paying much attention to me since she was on a rant about how great the organization is... I swear my mom has memory loss. I guess that's the cult programming, thought-stopping technique in force.

  i think what the wt says speaks for its self.

  am i missing something and or reading something into what they are saying.

  i sent a .pdf to a few friends and one of them betrayed me and forward it to a elder i know, along with the emails of the recipients.

  i cant believe i was so naive to think that i can trust someone..stupid.

  i have not talked to the "benedict arnold" yet, but hopefully soon.

  ok last night we played with the ouija board, i am posting a link to a video of what happened so you dont get offended.

  only open if you are willing to accept the consequences.. when my gf went to buy the board many people warned her about it, even the cashier shake the head and told her that she would never bring that game into her house.. so we played, we invoked the spirits, we even called god.

  Toilet quandries: The seat: Up/Down and Toilet paper direction

  those who have lived with the opposite sex know of the frustration of being lectured about some triviality.. the toilet seat/paper controversy is among the most inflammatory.. men who forget to put the toilet seat back down inspire anger, rage, resentment and the stern lecture.. the easiest solution is to train the man to always sit down when he goes.. .

  others argue over the direction of the toilet paper: forward overlap or backward underlap.. .

  how do you deal with these issues and how violent do you become?.

  The whole toilet seat debate is retarded. I mean really, if I walk in the bathroom and the seat is down, I put it up, no complaints, not even a hesitation or concern about it. Why do women insist on making that argument one to be fought each and every freakin time?? Hey, I have to put it UP when your done! FFS!

  On and the TP should be rolling off the top.

  But really, in either case, I don't get my blood pressure elevated if the seat is down, or up, or TP is rolling off the top or bottom. What really pisses me off and I will cuss, swear shout from the bathroom is if the last person didn't replace the TP and there is none in the bathroom at all. That will get my BP elevated.

  Actually, BroDan is correct. They can't legally use the email as evidence. Of course, that's never stopped them from using illegal means before so best bet, bend over and lube up, you're about to get ass rammed.

  Actually, I wouldn't deny a thing. Throw them off, they are wanting you to deny it or stutter your excuse out.

  Just point blank tell them, yeah, I sent it, I found it on the internet (or wherever you did get it, but be vague) read it, and thought that all witnesses could be able to use this wealth of information to be better Dubs.

  You'll get counselled, but just go with the innocent, I didn't think of it and act real sorry, it was out of your best intentions to help some of your closest friends.

  You will be marked internally with the BOE that you have it, distributed, but you didn't lie about it so they cant hit you with the 'brazen card'.

  Or..... just flat out lie and deny everything. However, be warned, they can easily get a copy of your email from the snitch friend and confront the others on it to be 'second witnesses'. So play smart. But don't play by their rules.

  I was a born-in. No, I did not 'test my faith', I mean how could I coming into it as a 4th gen JW... Pounded into your head from an early age the dogma and bullshit.

  somedays my dad would look at what i still call an older woman, and he'd call her attractive.

  i'd look at him like dude your nuts.

  i'm thinking just cuz your older doesn't mean its wrong to find younger women attractive.

  Yes, the older and further into my thirties I get, the more I'm noticing I notice older women. I like the maturity, experience and surety that comes with that package. Very appealing.
