Most JW men wear cheap-@$$ suits. They don't look like Lawyers at all, more like a cheap car saleman. I would know too, I used to wear them.

We shall dress with modesty (1Tim2:9), why dress like rich lawyers or wealthy financiers?
by Mr Fool inin my point of view, modest clothing is simple and humble.
so why are jw-men dressed like they own a big company or are challangers to the president post?

ALL OF US ARE IRRATIONAL even in some small way
by Terry inmy personal opinion is we all harbor some irrational ideas.
even the most careful of us have some small thing totally at odds with logical thinking.. i'll grant you, few people care about being rational!
and that in itself is a bigger problem.. but, i do make an heroic effort to avoid mindless beliefs, attitudes and thoughts.

Predictably Irrational, by Dan Ariely. Read it. Very good book on how we are all irrational and predictably so.

Why Eve sinned (WT 8/2013)
by EdenOne inadamah brought up in another thread an issue i wasn't aware of, and i thought it merged well with something i've been pondering about.
it revolves around the deeper reasons why satan was successful in persuading eve to eat from the forbidden fruit.
why was eve persuaded to disobey god?.

Mac Book Pro with Retina or Dell XPS 15? (both with new Haswell processors)
by Simon ini've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?

Not to sound like an apple fanboy, but I've had Mac Book Pro's for years and they are definitely more $$ but they stay relevent a lot longer. Quality made etc.
The only thing I would say is if you're used to Windows environment, Mac OS will take a little geting used to, but it isn't too bad.

Individual Governing Body Members and Lawsuits
by jw07 ini don't know if this has any legal implications:.
since the identities of the individual members of the governing body have been publicly confirmed (not that we didn't know that before) can that open the way for direct lawsuits to be leveled against members?.
for instance are there any laws in the usa that would open the way for geoffrey jackson to be targetted by the lawsuits from child abuse or no blood transfusion deaths?.

The "Governing Body" are not the legal representatives of the WTBTS, there is a president, secretary, treasurer etc, and these are not the GB, the GB of witness land is totally different in meaning than a governing body or board of directors of a company.
The WTBTS GB are the spiritual leaders, not representing the legal entity of the corporation. Confused? Good, that's the way they like you.

Mass Disfellowshippings of Inactive Ones
by bytheirworks inthe word out of bethel is of a mass purge the likes of the 1980's.. there's also possible public reproofs handed out for irregular ones.. .
the scriptures they are using to support this:.
the very ones keeping away from you will perish.

I wish this were nothing more than a rumor. I would embrace this asinine move whole heartedly! It would make it so easy for me to be the push to just say "f it" and be a clean break. End this "purgatorial" inactive BS.

That was disturbing... that guy is nuts... the fear and insanity that the WTBTS pushes is disgusting, a crime against humanity. Sick, sick sick.

It appears that Candace Conti has a strong case. However...
by Calebs Airplane ini believe we may all be surprized at the final outcome of this case.... as you may already know, arnold schwarzennegar appointed robert mcguiness as superior court judge in 2005. mcguinness is the judge in the candace conti case.. it is widely known that arnold scharzennegar is a high-ranking freemason with direct ties to the rothschild family (primary shareholders of the watchtower corporation).
judge robert mcguinness comes from a family of powerful and influential irish freemasons who also enjoy strong ties to the rothschild family.. so this could go south very quickly for candace in the next few days.... .

Said from someone who is not a Freemason, if you had a clue about Freemasonry, you would know that your claims have no foundation.
