Elder 2faced in my old congregation is a hypocrite because.....
He invited me to sit with him and his wife at the meeting, and straight after I gave an answer he said to his wife "Well, she didn't say much". Basically he loves lengthy answers, especially the sound of his own voice. At the end of the meeting he went up to give the closing prayer, and it went on for over 5 minutes so I stood up straight and said "he's going on and on and on as usual". LOL

i am always willing to share what i know and help people at the same time.. i feel honored when people say it has helped them as many of you have.
and in an odd way i suppoe it is an honor to have someone think what i write is good enough to post somewhere else.. but i want to know where it is going and what it is being used for and i want my name attached to it either as lady lee or lee marsh.. i just discovered that somebody named david_aaron_phillips took something i wrote along with over 500 pages of things other people wrote, put it altogether into one huge document and posted it on the web.

I think this is a lovely statement you make here, Lady Lee. I stopped posting replies at one time because I worried there might be apostates writing on this site. However, the thought that my experiences in the truth can help others that want advice, spurs me on.

Yes, the 'end' has been round the corner ever since I started to attend meetings in 1987!!! The next time that busybodies in the congregation try to hurry my boyfriend and I into getting married, I shall say "we want to get married in the paradise - the 'end' is just round the corner you know". Laugh out loud!!!
witness literature has never had a nice flow to it.
a family member was a maoist and had these perfect english pamphlets prepared by a foreign government.
the grammar was perfect.
I normally throw the watchtower across the room when I read something sarcastic like... "Jesus said ................... He didn't say ............. DID HE?". There is a sister in my old congregation that speaks like that during her wt answers too - it is really belittling, can't stand this sort of sarcasm - hardly necessary.
i know my view on this but would be interested to see what anyone else thinks.. .
at a court hearing recently my estranged wife, who left me (i'm not jw) asked me if i would be prepared to lie to her elders and state that i had committed adultery (i didn't) so that she would be allowed to "get on in her faith".
this from a woman who before she left got intimate (emotionally, i'm not sure about physically) with two "sisters", one of whom took to buying her large bunches of red roses and basicaly furnished her new house for her.. now my view is that she has clearly stated and put in writing that the marriage ended because of my unreasonable behaviour (i.e.

i know of many many jws that "live together" only because they are married to each other.
these people almost hate each other, but would never leave their marriages and get an "unscriptural" divorce.....i know of wives that "forgave" their husbands "unknowingly".
I know the initial posted question was some years ago, but you guys are breaking my heart!! All the nonsence and unhappiness you put up with because you accept from the elders what you can and cant do. Do some research into the WT volumes and tell them what Jah allows. He hates divorces but he doesn't hate divorcees...... A few years ago I knew in my heart that I was entitled to a scriptural divorce, even though I was the guilty party. I used Questions from Readers WT74 11/1 to prove to the presiding overseer that I had grounds for a scriptual divorce. The PO was not happy about it at all but he had to admit I was right. Even if he had denied my divorce was scriptural, I would have got a divorce anyway. You can't get disfellowshipped for that. I would have met someone else, courted discreetly, and got married - I don't know anyone who has been disfellowshipped for getting married when 'not free to marry'. But if I had been disfellowshipped, I would have reported the PO to Bethel - they don't put up with nonsence either.
i know a brother that was not scripturally free to remarry to the best of his knowledge, his ex wife was disfellowshipped in another state, his ex wife did not contact him letting him know that he is scripturally free to remarry, but the elders at his congregation knew about it, but they chose to keep it a secret from him for whatever reason???.
he did not know about it after one year after the fact!
he learned about it from a brother from another state.
Listen up - I committed fornication but I, the guilty party, was the one to obtain a scriptural divorce, approved by the presiding overseer. Why? Because I used as my defence Questions from Readers w74 11/1. Basically if a spouse denies their unfaithful mate intimate relations for a considerable time, then this is evidence that he/she has not forgiven them at all. My divorce was scriptual because it was on the 'grounds of fornication' - MINE. I am even free to marry again in a kingdom hall if I like. Of course the pharisee type sisters are very jealous LOL. :-)
i vaguely remember looking at this board a few years ago, before i ever considered leaving the borg, and being appalled at the evil and hateful attitudes i saw here and scared to death of reading any further.. now i go back through years and years of posts and there is no evil or hate there at all.
it's one of the most kind and welcoming boards i've encountered since the invention of the internet.. that is how well borg indoctrination works.

it still bothers me very much that they are allowed to keep files on us and that we have no right to see the contents.
they can choose to look at them or destroy them, whatever they wish, but our wishes about a file with our name on it, about our lives is not unavailable.

I asked the PO elder to confirm to me that I could get a scriptural divorce. After 8 WEEKS!!! yes, 8 long weeks, he told me that I was indeed entitled to a scriptural divorce. I asked him to put it in writing - he replied that he could not do this because of the data protection act. Then he said that if I moved to another congregation they would get a letter from him confirming that I was scripturally divorced. how bizarre. one rule for him and another rule for me.... I stopped going to meetings for 2 years, and now attend the Sunday meeting only, at other congregations i.e. as a visiting sister. I have no intention of 'signing up' to a new congregation because I do not want any written records and letters being passed from pillar to post, without my knowledge of what is in them. I also have no hangup about not putting in a field service report, because basically, Jehovah knows what time and effort I put into witnessing every month. Too much red tape I say...
when my mum went to her first meeting she was dressed to perfection, she wore nice ladies dress trouser/pants.
the witness stuying with her told her it was "not apropriate" to wear this to the meeting...in 2006 i was in a congregation where a sister would put a skirt on over her pants she wore to work.
it looked weird, but the pants ban still is in force 2007.
A few months ago I wrote to the Bethel in London about my views that wearing a feminine trouser suit for meetings was more modest. This is the main thrux of the reply... "Because there is a wide diversity of opinion on this subject, local elders have the responsibility to determine clothing and grooming that may not be appropriate..." - they also advised me to look at how the C.O.'s wife was dressed in order to get some tips LOL! They then advised me that that they were providing a copy of this letter "for your local congregation elders" and at this point I felt like I was being grassed up.... Now I only attend the public talk on a Sunday, and do not attend any assemblies whatsoever - it is ridiculous having to dress up for a meeting, when, in fact you should be dressing up to go to a football match - perhaps the organization will compensate our sisters when they ruin their skirts and dresses against the horrendous seats at football stadiums...
