Wow! I agree with the rest of the peanut gallery. If your daughter were my child they would not be seeing my child again without a major apology and even after that they would not be seeing my child again unless they were supervised.

but i was so wrong!
my daughter just got home.
you all know i dressed her up, painted her nails, curled her hair, and sent her off to my favorite cousin's wedding.

i know this has been discussed before but i think a fresh thread on this will be enjoyable.
Any of you guys heard of John Mason? He served in the southern USA in Southeastern Louisiana. He was a trip.
A bunch of teenagers in our congregation took a trip to the French Quarter in New Orleans. My brother go caught french-kissing one of the elder's daughters who went on the trip. My brother who was not baptized got called before the elders and Mason for a judicial hearing. Mason ran the show and had my brother convicted for loose conduct before he even entered the room. One of the craziest comments that Mason said to my brother as counsel was that 'French-kissing is such an unclean expression of affection that Christian married couples do not even engage in that practice'. This guy was really uptight.

as a faithful and zealous witness, nothing can question your faith.
but one day, something does!
you begin to have doubts.
Hi Gang:
For me the final straw was the 1914 generation change. I had left Bethel in 1988 and had done research on the whole 607/1914 teachings are realized the Watchtower was clueless on this. I had hoped that some day they would just be honest and admit that they were wrong. When the generation of 1914 article came out and I saw the mental masturbation that they went through to justify themselves, I realized just how intellectually dishonest they are. It was at that point that I realized it was time to leave.

i called my mom sunday for a little talk.
our weekly phone calls were curtailed severely by them after the recent crackdown by the empire.
but i still get one in every once in a while.. she brought up the war in iraq and in what came across to me as an unorganized halfhearted attempt, tried to use it to go into "the end".
Years ago when I was in the process of leaving the Borg, my brothers (who had no interest in becoming a JW) and I got into a discussion about the nature of God and His relationship to time. The discussion was very interesting. My JW mother got really upset whenever she would come into the room to hear our discussion. She got so upset she ran in her bedroom and started crying. My JW father came out and chastized us for having such a ridiculous conversation that upset my JW mother.
I know that with my JW mother, she just cannot even fathom that the JWs are wrong about anything. She has given up too much to follow them. It is really sad.

i am curious... do you know some that have left the truth that become "worse" people?
for years i would hear about some who left the truth and rumours how they are on drugs, in jail, etc.
and many bros and sis would say, "you might as well go out in the world and do all the bad stuff..cuz you're dead at armaggedon!".
With groups like the JWs you can never win. If someone leaves the JWs and leads a life of sin, then they are condemned because of their "loose" living. If someone leaves the JWs and leads a good upstanding life with lots of friends and family, then Satan is rewarding them with the comforts of this world for leaving the JWs. I have heard JWs make these kinds of comments about people who leave and turn out leading either in a life of trouble or a good life. Simply stated in the mind of an active JW, there is no honorable reason to leave the JWs.

do you guys know what the difference is between disfellowshipped/inactive/disassociation?.
i am not sure which one to do to myself (ha ha)!!!
i figured your experiences would help me decide which one is right for me as i don't trust i'll get the best answer for me from one of my current jw friends.
Actually, he can go to the elders and claim "spiritual endangerment" and the JWs will support him divorcing you all the way. I know that this is what the JWs tried to convince my wife to do when I first started leaving the JWs.
