Have you thought of adoption? Most states have open adoptions now which means that you would have the opportunity to have a relationship with your child if you wish and you would get to choose the adoptive parents as well.

True Christians neutral in War?

today i re-established contact with an older true - friend who is still a jw.

in the fifty years that he has been baptized he invested a lot of time and effort in helping the needy and elderly, loyally taking up responsibilities in the org as an elder, organizer, speaker and shepherd.

he is still out there as a lowly publisher, tirelessly going from door to door with only his bible.

Lots of Bethelites Not Happy With Downsizing

i had a long conversation last night with an old jw friend whose sister and brother-in-law are bethelites since the 1970s.

she is an artist, and he runs a small but important department there.. we were talking about the bethel downsizing (my friend was well aware of it), and i told him i figured his sister and b-i-l would be safe due to the fact that they are now in their 60s and have something close to 4 decades seniority.

but he said no, that they were worried that they would be asked to leave as well, sent into the circuit work or as special pioneers sent where the "need is great.".

I guess what I do not get is why they are still building in the DUMBO Neighborhood when they are downsizing.

Having Surgery - I'm scared!

i am having surgery next friday and i am scared to death!!!!

i am having a lump removed from both breasts and a biopsy done at the same time.

finding out the results of the biopsy is what is stressing me out the most.

My wife has had some cancer scares so we know something about what you are going through.

I did a recent interview on my podcast with an internationally known cult interventionist. Her name is Mary Alice Chrnalogar. (She has experience with the Church of Scientology by the way and they are really mean to say the least.) It was amazing the similarities in style when it came to manipulation no matter what the religious group. You might find the interview rather interesting.

High School Prom

greetings folks - it's been a while since i posted anything.

the other day i was talking to my daughter about her prom - dress, limo, etc....and it dawned on me that i never went to my prom.

obviously being a jdub was a big reason why i didn't go or had any desire to go.

Hi:

I could have gone to my Senior Prom with a nice JW girl. However, I decided it was not worth all of the trouble. In my congregation, if you just sat next to a female who you were not related to a couple of times at the meetings, in the minds of the gossips you were almost engaged. And, I could not imagine what the talk would be if I had taken someone to the Senior Prom and it was looked down upon in our congregation.

Special Field Service Campaign at DA

i have this memory of going to a da back in the mid to late seventies -- i was about 8 years old -- and there was a special field service campaign.

seems to me that one of the assembly days was shortened and everyone was given a service kit -- some tracts in a plastic bag -- and everyone was to go out and preach for the remainder of the afternoon.

i remember going with my dad to get in line to pick up the bag of tracts and then going into the neighborhood around the stadium to witness.

I think we did this one time in Biloxi, Mississippi. We handed out tracts at the local Mall. My little Italian JW grandmother got into a shouting match with some lady that told her off. I thought it was rather funny.
