HI mandatory reporting if minister in teaching position

i spoke to asst.

procescuting atty and said if church minister in position of teacher, such as sunday school teacher, then they are required to report sexual abuse if a child tells them of the sexual abuse.

this has to be the child not the parents telling them..so you parents if your child comes to you about sexual abuse by church member then go with them and support them while your child tells the minister who is in a teaching capacity.

Make sure that the minister acknowledges they have to report this to the police (as you would also be doing) Made me wonder if that was part of why the home bible study groups were no longer allowed with one elder conducting the group as this would fall under that catagory of manditory reporting, at least in Hawaii. He also confirmed the two year window for filing civil cases in sexual abuse no matter how long ago the abuse was.

Getting some more help

i have talked before about what happened to me as a jw.

i was baptized at 12 and two years later i was in a judicial committee for sexual immorality after having an inappropriate relationship with an older woman.. it was handled just like any other kh would have handled it.

after a humiliating interrogation by my elder father in front of my mother, he dropped the dime on me.

You are normal and are having normal feelings of self doubt because you have been abused by adults who should of known better. Keep getting counseling and going to support sites that can validate you as a good person and help you not to sabotage yourself. YOU ARE WORTHY

My son also had an older woman in his life when he was around 17 (now 38 yrs). He had stopped attending meetings a year before and I accepted that was his decision and I would not force him to attend but asked him to keep a personal relationship with God and he said he would. However, when I found out about this adult woman I sat him down and talked with him about the reality that it would not last and that perhaps she was using him and suggested that he think this over (she had children who were living with their father) as it turned out she was using him and he saw it and broke up with her. Your parents are in a cult and are controlled by a cult but they are still also responsible to take care of your physical and mental health and they choose to let others harm you (JC meeting) and followed with the shunning.

They should be ashamed of their actions and I truly hope someday they will realize that and ask for your forgiveness.

Here is a hug and I wish only the best for you as you deserve only the best....dont let them get you down keep fighting for YOU.

sisters wearing pants/trousers?

my sister-in-law has recently gone back to the org :-(.

she has been wearing trousers (pants to us members ) now she has been told to expect a shepherding call from one of the elders about her style of dress!.

has anyone any good ideas or even scriptural comments that she could use.. .

I remember when I was going to my first meeting after having studied with a pioneer sister (late 70's) I got all dressed in a very nice pantsuit and as I got in her car her 5 yr old son loudly said "why is she wearing pants to the Kingdom Hall", she told me dont worry about it and off we went. Of course then I saw I was the only woman in pants and never wore them again. I got the talk of appearing before a judge in court don't most people dress accordingly in their best clothes. I guess back then I wanted to belong and never wore pantsuit again. So glad to be out of their control.

Good post...yes no personal studied w/o WT..when I told CO that I needed to research some of our teachings as the bible said we were to do if we were to make sure...as he left he said go ahead but in the end you must come around (using hands to illustratrate a circle) back to our teachings as we must all be in union with what we teach. Even though I had talked to him about the flip flops that forced people to be disfellowshipped but would be acceptable now does not make sense.

I have not seen him since and they have marked me, so no one comes to my house while in field ministry. The last person was from out of town and when the group leader saw she was talking with me, from the street she was yelling to her to come away from me. She looked back to me and smiled saying, "Oh My I am not suppose to be here", to which I told isn't that interesting as I am not disfellowshiped nor DA but I am marked for questioning some of our teachings nor do I seek to pull others away only if I am asked why I do not attend do I explain why. She said "We Love You Anyway", to which I said No You Don't, you may but as an organization they do not teach love if you have questions, which is not following Christ's example.

She hurried off to the car group.

i know a very young brother that got married in june of this year.

they are now divorced that fast.

Depends on which kingdom hall is ruling its masses. I know of woman who had been without a man for several years and did the deed called the elders within hours to confess (she was so upset for being unfaithlful to Jehovah but the guy was so cute and so nice to her but not a JW) so they met with her, asked if any chance of her getting pg which she said no, so silently reproved her. Guess what she ended up pregnant and then she was disfellowshiped. Broke up with father of the child...got reinstated months after birth. Glad to annouce few years later she saw the light and is no longer JW living a good life.
