Indirectly related... I recently watched the AmazingAtheist (I think that's his name) on YouTube burn a Koran, a Bible, and The God Delusion all in the same sitting. Somehow, Islam, Christianity, and absence of belief in a deity still exist afterwards.

Ground Zero Mosque
by minimus indo you agree that there should not be a mosque in the area that was wiped out by muslim extremists?
on the view, it was discussed with bill o'reilly and the ladies of the view.
joy behar and whoopie flipped because bill said "muslims" were responsible for the carnage there and it would not be appropriate for a mosque in that area.. what do you think?.

VB:...those terrorists no more represent Islam than radical extremist Christians, or JW's for that matter, represent mainstream Christianity.
Well put!
I really hate to see prejudice flourishing in a group that had to fight so hard for freedom of thought.

I want to understand the knowledge and reason you guys are using to arrive at your conclusions that a mosque should NOT be allowed to be built two blocks away. I have no interest in ANY organized religion but this just sounds like an irrational prejudice against a whole group.

Sam, you're totally misunderstanding my analogy. I'm talking about prejudging an entire group based on the actions of the few (who do not even represent the entire group). The comparison is ridiculous because I think the prejudice here is ridiculous.
Is the proposed mosque a RADICAL muslim mosque? How do the Muslims who want to build it view 9/11? How close to ground zero is it? There are reportedly already mosques in that area.

One older fella read Proverbs 22:3 but instead of shrewd he read, "Screwed is the one that has seen the calamity and proceeds to conceal himself....”
I chortled in my pants. (Yeah, you had to be there.)

TWO QUESTIONS
by snowbird in1. are your validation words getting weirder?
e.g., what is a jamstratt?.
2. when you are on a thread where posters are fighting and trading insults, how do you feel?.

Undercover: It's pretty natural, especially for faders who can't verbalize their feelings or thoughts to JW spouses or family. We come here and we vent and have our tantrums and then feel a little better.
As my great-great-grandfather used to say, "True dat."
I'd argue all day long with JW family if they'd let me so I think my pent up frustration just comes out here sometimes.

Argh. I'll bite.
Soooo white people shouldn't be allowed to build a Baptist Church in Africa, right? I mean, since the typical slave owner was a white Christian, that'd follow similar logic, right?

A Warning to Elders
by Darth plaugeis inwhat if the elders tracked you down and show up at your house to inform you of wrong doing and the action they will take.. what if the elders destroyed your family and now they stand before you smiling with the bible in their hand.. i know my reaction.... it would not be pretty... the police would be at my house very shortly.. do they really believe jah would protect them from those they wronged?
i am not a violent man..... but this is like rubbing your nose in the very pain they caused.. i say this because..... i sense something is in the mix.. my lawyer gave some info because of a legal matter and if i know these bastards.......... they better think twice....

It's called the "No True Scotsman" fallacy and is an argument bred by cognitive dissonance.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman
Just another bullshiite argument used to pass off an uncomfortable truth.
