Questions for Thinkers, Part Deux

snopes has the real scoop on it's origins.
i'm sure it's been posted on jwn more than once in years past.

Questions From Thinkers
by Perry inhow do you explain david's graphic portrayal of jesus' death by crucifixion (psalm 22) 1000 years before christ lived?.
how do you account for the odds (1 in 10 to the 157th power) that even just 48 (of 300) old testament prophecies were fulfilled in jesus christ?.
in what sense was jesus a "good man" if he was lying in his claim to be god?.

1. her post about God being a loser makes her sound like a bully
Nance... WHO is she bullying? Are you concerned that your [concept of] god may have a problem with low self-esteem? Has your deity been a bit down lately... showing self-destructive tendencies, or threatening suicide perhaps?
If your god is the supreme being of the universe, how could StillThinking be bullying it?
Surely you understand that she doesn't believe your god is a loser, because that would first require her to believe in your god. She's just pointing out, from her perspective, the problems that occur when people try to eff the supposedly ineffable. A loving god is more concerned about his own sterling reputation and glory than starving children? Does not compute.
Again, I ask, who is she bullying when she makes that observation?
2. it is a lie to post that I believe some scriptures but reject others.
Or maybe it's her perception of you. How could she get that perception?

Dear Perry:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your fundamentalist website and posts, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to follow them.
a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.
d) Lev25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
g) Lev21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
i) I know from Lev11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.Your devoted disciple and adoring fan,

Andrew Sht:So, dear reader, according to Jesus Christ, there is a simple reason why many people, such as Diest,
do not know.... they do not really want to do the will of God.

People judge posts all the time. In fact Sweetbaby put all mine together and said;
you have consistently demonstrated that intellectual virtues are not necessary to survive in the real world.
So anywho, my character, intellectual capacity, and mental heath has been judged 100 times on JWN.
Bear in mind the sheer volume of your posts, Nance.... again, averaging 26+ per day since you first logged on. You're putting yourself out there for sniping more than most folks. That's not to mention the content of the posts.

Hey, Nickolas, how are ya, guy? Good to see you back at the meetings!
Seriously, though, your presence - along with the spirit of Ockham - is welcomed. Hope all's well in your world.

At one time, I was embarrassed if I didn't have the right magazine at meetings. After my awakening, I embraced the idea. I'd take the wrong magazine and open it to an article that was CLEARLY not the article being studied (totally wrong pics was a pretty good giveaway), highlight the hell out of it to attract the gawkers. Bonus if I could find an Awake and like an article on the benefits of breast-feeding.
I think I just made some of that up but there was once an article on breast-feeding.
EDIT: CP, I think I just blatantly stole your memory. Kids, don't drink and type.

Good point. Semi-related, anyone who assigns a gender to their invisible deity might want to meditate a few minutes on that concept alone.
I'd like to see this on the cover of a Watchtower:
Does God Have a Spirit Penis?
And Does It Affect You?
Also in this article: It's a Whale! It's a Dolphin! No! It's a Wholphin!
^FWIW, that last headline was the title of an actual Awake article in the 90s.
