Just so you know, I'm not wanting to doubt or believe. But the neutral position is to not believe until sufficient evidence is presented.

Once you have experienced a supernatural phenomenon

What constitues sufficient evidence for a "supernatural phenomenon"? Some people, due to superstitious backgrounds, will immediately ascribe a supernatural explanation to a strange unexplained or unexplainable event.

The skeptic or scientist would rather investigate the hell out of such an event to see if there's a reasonable explanation first and only assign a label once it is found. And ultimately, if the event has no clear explanation, it remains unexplained. There may be a hypothesis but no dogmatic assertion that X absolutely caused Y.

Jw are pretty good at making demons sound pretty powerful.

Powerful enough to possess a herd of swine and make them stampede off a cliff but not quite powerful enough to move a small planchette on a wooden game board.... without someone's help.

Sometimes these spirits are happy to provide one. But they aren't your friends and can't be trusted.

Is there any chance you might still believe this because you still have remnants of old preconceived opinion as a child that evil spirits hung out around Ouija boards? If not, then what, specifically, are you basing those statements on?

If a true skeptic, a scientist, gets his mitts on an Ouija board and nothing supernatural happens.... does that mean he got a dud? Like the gateway is broken or what?

What kind of evidence do you need? what kind is accpetable to YOU? what do YOU NEED to believe ( not in the book but God)?

Well, first if God is not communicating directly with me, I have to start somewhere, right? In this case, that somewhere is the Bible. So I absolutely have to verify that I can trust the Bible before I accept any of it's writings as authoritative. Before I believe anything about God, I need to know why I should buy into one holy book over another. Why start with the presupposition that book is true because of it's tone or feeling? That said, we can always eliminate books due to tone or feeling, if they are self-refuting/contradictory.

in the NT in particular, you will find the things that lead us to Jesus.

that takes accepting Jesus and beginning a personal relationship with Jesus, but in the bible we find the beginnings of an understanding of Jesus,

But if I find a great number of passages to be downright silly, mythological stories, how can I possibly trust the"beginnings" as anything more? And as I asked above, why start with the presupposition that any of it is true simply due to it's tone or feeling?

to deny it the value that it does have is just as bad as exagerrating that value above our Lord.

Do you deny the value of the Koran? I'm only trying to search for truth from the most neutral position I can find and that is a lack of belief in any particular deity/holy book until someone can provide empirical evidence that said book is from a divine source, preserved through time, and accurately translated.

Thus far that has not been done.

^ Don't know that I'd be that harsh but I do think that faith in a personal god and belief in demonic activity have the same results: belief, in both cases, makes the beings and interactions real for the believer.

The less folks seem to believe in a supernatural realm, the less problems they seem to have with demons. How many skeptics have been attacked by demons?

so, many in here disagree with many aspects of science because they go against their own personal beliefs.

so lets all get smarter here and do some research.

if you have something that you dont agree with science because it goes against what your religion tell us and lets all do some research about it.. if we cant find any evidence of it we will switch to disagree with science.

[edit] Have you watched TheraminTrees (his brother) videos, too? Brilliant stuff. There's even one where the two bros collaborated, called "Instruction Manual for Life". Does an AMAZING job of representing life as a young person in a closed-minded religion. I've probably watched it 10 times and I put it in my FB status the night after we were DF'd.

I have seen soem seriosu crap, serious crap that makes me wonder how ANYONE can be so evil, truly evil in all sense of the word and perhaps that is the dominion of demons.

Is this ruling out serious psychological disorders in favor of the supernatural? Are demons a prerequisite for hallucinations and voices? What does a study of psychology show?

Before we say something is out of this world are we making sure by all means possible that it's not IN this world?

JJJ: I was demon possessed, you either believe what I typed to be true or you don't, if you don't believe you wont believe everything else I saw and experienced.

If you said you had an experience, for example, in which you lost control of your senses, fell to the ground, and started shaking violently.... I wouldn't question whether you had such an experience. It's only when a person automatically attributes something like that to demons before investigating all other plausible explanations that I question them.

JJJ: There are countless articles proving the old testament to be true.

True in what sense? In that specific people and places described actually existed? Or that all events in the OT literally happened? Because the latter is just ridiculous. If you disagree, please provide links and/or names of these articles.
