  hi this is my first post, i've been on line reading as many of the posts as possible this afternoon, i never realised this site exsisted.

  i have to say, as an ex jw i was almost afraid to post.

  The reason that faithful JWs completely side with the Governing Body on this, is because to do otherwise, would make them question other areas that the GB has screwed up on.......lets say like: PROPHECY!!

  As we all know, it is drilled in to each of our heads from day one that these men all have a direct line of communication with Jehovah God and that to question anything they say or do, is like questioning Jehovah Himself. This is most likely why your father completely dismisses the whole thing. To his way of thinking, it HAS to be apostates doing this! I mean, if it's NOT all lies and apostates, then that would mean (gasp!) that the Governing Body members are basically criminals because their protecting pedophiles which would call in to question every other decision that the Governing Body has ever made.

  As these guys are used to unquestioning loyalty and obedience, they are naturally incensed that they're being exposed as a bunch of liars, hypocrites and deceitful men, by "Satan's agents" (including CNN, Dateline and Panorama). They do NOT want 6 million Witnesses to find out what they've done, so they do what they always do whenever someone questions them: they call that person a liar and a agent of Satan and "apostates."

  Its no different than then Salem Witch Trials. All's it took is for someone to look at you and go "She's a witch!" and boom! your life was over. Evidence and logic were not necessary. The same thing goes today. If Witnesses actually watched these programs, they would probably realize that these people are not 'apostates', they're victims. But like I said, that would shake the very foundations of their beliefs, and many Witnesses simply are not ready to do that.

  does anyone know this.is it run by 12 men or 1?and if so, is one of them the old guy who starred in panorama last night.there must be someone at the top who makes big decisions who probably has a fat wallet,1st class transportation,regular holidays(no sorry i mean visiting different branches and assemblys,stays in the hilton and smokes big cigars.

  I think there's 12 or 13 men........As far as I know, Freddie Franz was the last President who really ran the show and had the final say, now I think the power is divided evenly amongst the following 13 men:

  of 10-1-77 asks if an unbelieving husband admitted that he had another woman, is his admission sufficient ground for a scriptural divorce.the response was"though for the sake of his reputation he might not be willing to own up to it in a court of law or before other persons.what can the wife do?

  since she is part of the clean christian congregation, she should realize the importance of handling the matter properly.

  Well my understanding is that the WTS says that if the pedophile admits that he's been molesting little kids, then you don't need two witnesses (no one's going to admit they're a pedophile unless they really are one). This is in theory. The reality, from what I saw on the Panorama documentary yesterday, is that it doesn't seem to matter one bit if the guy admits it or not: NOTHING'S DONE!!

  It's like Bill Bowen said when interviewed: They don't want to admit they've got a problem like this within the Organization. If they admit it, then they have to deal with it and that's something that they're not willing to do.

  As per usual, they are churning out the same old argument: 'there's got to be TWO witnesses to the abuse'. What would the elders do if a mature sister came to them and told them that she had been raped by brother-so-and-so last week. Would they listen? Would they DO anything??? Or would they simply say to her "too bad sister, no one witnessed the rape so there's nothing we can do about it."

  While the principal of having to have "two Witnesses" in some situations might be justified, child abuse is certainly not one of them as it's virtually ALWAYS done in secret.

  Seeing as Head Office obviously has no intention of changing their pathetic policies on child-abuse, I hope the whole thing ends up going to court where the laws FORCE them to make changes. The Governing Body members either either so senile that they can't even think straight any more, or they're so frigging arrogant that they'd cut off their nose to spite their face. How they can even sleep at night is a mystery.........

  Did your religious belief affect you mentally!!

  i ask this because many religious people i speak to seem traumatised by there x religious beliefs,there minds seem unbalanced not being able to deal with reality.they also tell me they have nightmares about things like end of the world,being at their old church,etc etc,are any of you on here going through things like this.they also seem confused in what do with there lives and in what directions to take.

  It only affected me mentally once I realized that this was not the "one true religion".......before that (and I know this may sound bizarre), but I was actually a happier person than what I am now. When I "believed" whole-heartedly that we were living in the Last Days, I took alot of comfort in "knowing" that I was in the right religion. I went out in Service on a regular basis (I was one of those people that actually enjoyed going out in Service and it never bothered me knocking on people's doors as I thought I was giving them the opportunity to be "saved"). I was popular in the congregation and I had a full social life with lots of friends.

  When I found out (by reading "apostate" literature) that this was NOT the one true religion, I basically went into some sort of shock as I had believed it totally and completely. For someone who's never experienced this, it may be hard to understand, but this is what being in a cultish religion does to you. It's drilled into your brain that you are in "the truth", and there is security in having alot of friends and people that you can turn to in a moment of crisis. Take that away and you're left dealing with reality which can be harsh compared to the Fool's Paradise that you came from.

  It's almost like being born and raised on the HoloDeck of the Enterprise where everything is hunky-dory and then when you're an adult, being forced to go out into the real world. It can do alot of serious mental damage to you realizing that your parents ARE going to die one day and that YOU are also going to die one day.

  I saw this on CNN and I felt sick to my stomach. Nothing infuriates me more than abuse to children, old people and animals. The people that perpetuate the abuse are a bunch of sick bastards who apparently need to do this crap, in order to feel in control of their own pathetic lives.

  I would suggest that these two young "christians" who beat this boy, be given the EXACT SAME TREATMENT to see how they like it...............might make them think twice before they did it again. I hope they both go to jail for child abuse but in keeping with religious fanaticism, it'll be chalked up to "persecution from Satan".
