Well this is interesting........in any past kidnappings, who has paid the ransom: the church or the government? Seeing at the Organization has so much frigging money, they should be more than willing to pay whatever to have their people released. Then again, they might view it as "bribery" and would probably try to quote scriptures to the captors, explaining why they can't pay any money because they "can't go beyond what is written". Perhaps they might even start a bible study with them, or at least count time.

Paragraph 5 was particularly nauseous..............so 12 diapered men in Brooklyn "have the responsibility" of telling me what I can and cannot read eh? ROFLMAO!!!
Not anymore................these guys remind me of Julia Roberts' husband in the movie "Sleeping With the Enemy", that was out about 10 years ago. Controlling, manipulative, obsessive, paranoid, ready to punish at any imaginary "sin"........there's something mentally wrong with people like this; they just can't bear losing control of other people's lives...........well, just keeping on pumping the ol' craparoony out.....more and more will keep on leaving.

Is the death penalty effective in usa?
by haujobbz in.
im asking this because lately in the uk 2 girls were murdered that were only 12 yrs old and now 59% population of the uk want the death penalty reinstated.. i assume you already have the death penalty in the usa, but do you think it is effective reducing 1st degree murder and potential child molesters, would you like to see the death penalty removed in the united states or not.. i wonder if the death penalty will be reinstated in the uk what do you think, personally i dont think it will maybe the politicians are afraid they wont get as many votes.

I think the death penalty might be a bit of a deterent, but the main thing is: it prevents these scumbags who commit these horrific acts against innocent children, from ever doing it again.
Look at that swine who raped and killed Samantha Runnion. He had been tried for child molestation before, but because his scumbag lawyer (who's received countless death threats) tried every trick in the book to get him off scot-free, the jury fell for the lies and let him off. And now another little girl is dead.
I think they need to have the death penality for child rape/murder. If child molestors saw other child molesters put to death for their sick acts, they might think twice before they try the same.

I NEED your advice!!!!! Please reply!
by worldly girl inok here's the deal..... i've not had much to do w/ my parents since jan '02 when my mother and i got into over her force feeding my 3 year old the "troof".
when i respectfully ask her on behalf of myself and my non jw husband, to respect us enough to let us teach our child about religion.... her response was "well if you don't want her around our religion, then don't bring her around us".
and during the course of this conversation she stated this in the most hateful of tones at least 4 or 5 times to both me and my husband, in front of our daughter.... well i was furious.... that she would say such a thing and openly chose to have nothing to w/ my daughter.. without being given an ultimatum<sp> to choose.

Sorry to say, but your mother sounds like a typical Witness. If she admitted that sexual abuse actually goes on in the Organization, then that might mean (gasp!) that Jehovah's Spirit isn't upon them at all!! And we all know that THAT kind of "independent thinking" will earn you a nice little Judicial Committee meeting.
Seeing as your mother was so rude and pooh-poohed your sexual abuse as nothing more than "apostasy", then I would be very leary of letting her see your children without you or your husband present. Given her callous comments, she would almost certainly try and slip in comments about Jehovah or the New System or the Kingdom Hall, even though this is against your wishes. Another thing too is: parents quite often don't like their children telling THEM what they can and cannot do; they're used to having things the other way round.
I'm not sure what your father has said in all of this, but until your mother apologized to you I wouldn't let her see your kids at all.

the two severed heads were found by the philippines military on the remote southern island of jolo.
the army chief on jolo, brigadier general romeo tolentino, said that a note was attached to one of the heads, saying: "those who do not believe in allah will suffer the same fate.

I'm rather amazed and disturbed at some views here, that these Witnesses "got what they deserved". These people are controlled by the Governing Body's teachings, just like we all were at one time. In my teenage years, I was so positive that this was "the truth" that I would have gladly sacrificed my life for my beliefs if necessary.
The thing is, they weren't beheaded because they were Jehovah's Witnesses, they were beheaded because they weren't Muslim. These guys would have beheaded a Catholic, Protestant, Jew or Buddist just as quick.

And they claim that Islam is a religion of peace? Gimme a break. This is absolutely sickening and I'd like to see these bastards bombed right into the stone age........which is where their thinking is anyway.
I hope the Society has enough sense to get any missionaries they have in the Phillipines out of there.......It's kind of hard to "preach in all the inhabited lands" if they're going to kill you before you get two words out of your mouth.

Most unhypocritical religion which one?
by haujobbz inthink about it when you chose to become a jw why did you choose that belief.. was it because you witnessed there good works or there following the scriptures closely or even there so called similarity to 1st century christians.. when i think about it, i didnt really witness these things it was the books i studied which told me this because if i had really looked closely at the activities and jw roots i would of realised they werent the pure religion they claimed to be.now i think about it why didnt i take my study more serious not just reading what the jws gave me but looking to outside sources for more information, im really gutted i didnt do this now.
i mean did i look at other beliefs to see how they functioned nope i just believed the books i studied and that was it and i thought i wasnt gullible.. so now in the situation most of us are in today if you were to look at most religious christian beliefs today which would you say follows the bible closely and imitates the 1st century christians the closest, sticks to gods and christ teachings closely.
also have any of you thought about joining another faith and which one?

Unfortunately, there's hypocrisy in all religions simply because you have imperfect people in all religions. No one can be "good" and "stay on the straight and narrow" all the time, it's just not in our nature. We all have done bad things, have bad thoughts and I can guarantee you that 99.99% of the men in ANY religion (I didn't include Fred Hall as he probably doesn't know what a woman is), including the Dubs, have at one time or another "looked at a woman with passion in [their] hearts". And the same is true for women when they see a good looking guy.
Of course, there are the more obvious forms of hypocrisy that you see presently in the Catholic Church, and the JWs regarding child molestation. This is not just "a sin", it's a serious crime and you've got so-called "spiritual men" covering it up. How anyone can go and sexually abuse a child, and then get up there are have the nerve to PREACH to anyone else about THEIR sins, is hypocrisy at it's worst.
Seeing at Witnesses are probably amongst the most judgemental religious group around, then I'd have to say that they also must stand out as one of the most hypocritical too.

elders in the parking lot
by imanaliento inmy husband and i sent our letters in to the elders and a few others in the congregation, stating we have walked away.
can't stand hypocrites.
they want to meet him in the parking lot after work.

LOL! The Parking Lot??!! Give me a break...........Didn't some elders want to meet Bill Bowan in a motel room? And then your elders don't show? I'd be careful if I were you. For all you know, they could fake an attempted break-in to the Hall and then try and prove that you were there at that time.
I don't put anything past these scumbags anymore............
Let us know what (if anything) happens.
