I hear ya CoCo. Why do you think I'm not married? After what I've been through in the 'love' department, I would be terrified beyond words to ever let my guard down again. It might be lonely at times being single, but I'd rather be lonely than to live with having my heart ripped out again. At least you can function when you're lonely.

no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.

wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.

my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

This reminds me of the experience that Ray Franz wrote about in In Search of Christian Freedom , p. 353. In 1982, George West from the Maynard Massachusetts congregation was dying of bone cancer and was deteriorating quickly:

"his head was supported in a cage arrangement since his neck bones could no longer bear the weight. The elders [had somehow heard] that George had submitted to a blood transfusion and attempted to ask him about it on several occasions. One night under interrogation he acknowledged having accepted the transfusion. His reason? His children from a previous marriage had heard he was dying and called to let him know they were coming.....to visit him at the hospital. He had not seen them since childhood. He decided to take the transfusion to extend his life a little longer in order to be reunited with his children. The elders disfellowshipped George West only days before he died."

One can only imagine how this poor bastard felt knowing he was dying in a "disfellowshipped state", which, according to the Organization, almost certainly means he is not worthy of a resurrection. The fact that they have decided to disfellowship Oompa so soon after he nearly died in an accident demonstrates that they are neither Christian or know the meaning and value of compassion.

Then again, this shouldn't come as any frigging surprise.

Best chili recipes for Superbowl?

but... can some of you give me your favorite recipes for chili?

Try this.....it serves 8 people

1 (14.5 ounces) can fire roasted tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
1 carrot chopped up
1 onion, chopped up
2 stalks celery, chopped up
1/4 cup white wine
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
1.4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/3 cup bottled steak sauce or Bullseye (Old West Hickory)
5 slices cooked bacon
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 (1.25 ounce) package chili seasoning mix
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Combine tomatoes, tomato paste, carrot, onion, celery, wine, pepper flakes, brown sugar, bell peppers and steak sauce in a large pot over medium-low heat. While that's simmering, in a large skillet over medium heat cook the bacon until crisp then remove the bacon. Cook beef in bacon drippings until brown; drain. Stir chili seasoning into ground beef.
Stir seasoned beef, cumin and bacon into tomato mixture. Continue to simmer until vegetables are tender and flavors are well blended.
Stir in beans, cilantro and parsley and then inhale!!

true they asked to meet with me about my "medical treatment"....geeze what a great first phone call when you have a trache tube in your throat and a feeding tube in your belly and a halo around your head all due to a serious motorcycle wreck!!! so i told them to leave me the fluck alone!!!! guess you are not supposed to do that...esp when they know you had a blood transfusion!!...i was unconscious for nearly three weeks so had no idea what my treatment was...but do know now that i received two liters of blood fractions. what were the fractions??....100% lmao!!!!

WTF? OK, first of all, how do they know for sure what "medical treatment" you received? Second, if you got the transfusions when you were "unconscious for nearly three weeks", then on what grounds are they disfellowshipping you? That's nuts, even by Witless standards. Not sure what you want to do here Oompa, but here's a couple of suggestions:

1. Write a letter to everyone in your congregation telling them that you have been disfellowshipped without having been given any notice whatsoever;

2. If you want to avoid the DFing, meet with them and deny you had any transfusions and ask them to provide evidence to the contrary;

3. Chalk it all up to experience and go key the elders' cars in the parking lot one night.

Assholes.

what did the jews believe about life after death?

jws say, that they believed in the resurection of the dead on earth.

but i can t remember reading such a bible quote.

although i think mary said something about a resurection at the end of times...whatever that meant.. are there bible scriptures in the old testament which support such a believe?.

I asked my old boss (Orthodox Jew) what the Jews believe about a life after death. He said that the scriptures are not really clear about it. On one hand, there are scriptures that seem to indicate that nothing happens, but on the other hand, there are scriptures that indicate that life does go on after we shuffle off this mortal coil. His own personal belief is that we do have a spirit that continues on. However, unlike the Christian faith, the Jews do not put a lot of emphasis on what happens when we die. Their focus is far more on living a good and meaningful life while we are here and whatever happens after that happens.

Come to Australia, where we're experiencing heatwave conditions. 40C during the day, 27C at night.

That sounds pretty damn good right about now BrokenPromises. It's been unseasonably cold here in Ontario since, well, last September. This winter has just been freezing cold with absolutely no breaks for us at all. Good news is that Wiarton Willy didn't see his shadow so that means a early Spring.

I put about as much faith in that as I do that Armageddon is nigh.

What's wrong with all you doomsayers? The reason the sister in the middle is so happified, is because they lowered the requirements for pioneering to 30 hours a month. Clearly the guy on the phone is not happy with the phone sex he's paying $4.99/minute for and could probably hear more dirty talk for free by logging into the Six Screens of the Watchtower to listen to 'Johnny' and his party animal Bethelite friends. The woman with three screaming kids is stressed because she can't remember which of the kids was fathered by one of the elders and is just hoping and praying the kid doesn't grow up to look like him.

The guy on the far right is a Forrest Gump wannabee and looks like he just shit himself a box of choc-o-lates. The old dude sitting next to him is wondering what the hell happened to the box of chocolates he bought himself yesterday and is depressed because he doesn't understand WTF an 'overlapping generation' is supposed to be. The chick with the files just hopes that no one from the 6th Floor Conference Room at Crooklyn notices they're missing while the guy on the far left is wondering if she's an easy lay.

Did the WTS applaud Ray Franz when he exposed the fact that his 'friends': the Governing Body members themselves were responsible for the brutal torture, rape and murder of thousands of Witnesses in Malawi? Were they glad when Barbara Anderson spoke out publically about the "unscriptural" child molestation that the Organization had been covering up for decades, or was it viewed that they 'violated an unwritten code of silence'---namely, never, ever expose the wrongdoing of your leaders no matter how serious it is? The fact that both Ray and Barbara were disfellowshipped on the flimsiest of charges proves that Big Brother doesn't like it when you tell on them-----they only like it when you tell on your friend for looking at pictures of naked women on the internet.

Typical double-standard crapola. Then again, what else can you expect from the Craptower articles?

Russia: JW convicted over refusing blood transfusion for her 5 year old son

in a first, a court convicted a member of the jehovahs witnesses religious sect over her refusal to sanction blood transfusion for a relative, a procedure banned by the sects teachings, interfax reported wednesday.. natalya podlozhevich was fined 5,000 rubles ($170) by a magistrate of the khanty-mansiisk regions town of kogalym, which found her guilty of abandoning in danger her 5-year-old son.. the unnamed boy was hospitalized last february in serious condition, the cause of which was not specified.

medics said he required blood transfusion, but his mother refused to sanction the procedure.

As much as we condemn the mother, the real cultprits are the Governing Body members, inparticular, Gene Smalley, who should be charged with Assisted Suicide, every single time a Witness dies because of the ban on blood transfusions. We all know full well that no Witness would have ever refused a blood transfusion had those two asswipes, Franz and Knorr, come up with this 'new light' in the late 1950s, making it a disfellowshipping offense in 1961.

If the GB were in fact, facing criminal charges whenever a Witness died due to the blood doctrine, I guaratee they'd be getting "new light" to make taking transfusions a "conscience matter" pretty damn quick.

Since Assisted Suicide is described as:

"........the common term for controversial actions by which an individual helps another person voluntarily bring about their own death.....Assistance" may mean providing one with the means (drugs or equipment) to end their own lives, but may extend to other actions...", I'm amazed that no criminal charges have been brought against the WTS.
