he then explained to me that this week, for the local needs, congregations across the us will have a brother deliver a special outline on blood transfusions.. .
I'm not sure what it's like in the States, but in Canada, if a JW parent refuses blood transfusions for their kid and the kid is (obviously) going to die without it, then the courts step in and give them the blood. There was a situation a few years ago with Witnesses who had sextuplets out in British Columbia and the government intervened when the parents refused to accept the transfusions.

so i attended a funeral for a jw who passed away (non-"annointed) and i would have to state that although i have heard the standard funeral talk outline for dozens of funerals i've attended, i never really took the time to listen.
and my god, i was cringing.
the outline is essentially broken down like this:.
Most Witness talks are all nothing but infomercials now. That's not a surprise given the instructions they have on how to give the talks. Below is the official 'outline' right from Crooklyn on funerals. I've highlighted the most offensive parts and the instructions at the end of it just says it all. They do not go for 'eulogizing the deceased', but prefer that the funeral talk be used to promote their particular brand of bullshit:

i hate assemblies.
i can't stand the contrived, rehearsed, robotic sound of the interviews and experiences.
i can't stand the repeated references to the fds, and i especially can't stand the college education bashing that seems to be thrown in there in just about every other talk.. here's my assesment of the assembly:.
The first was the "typical" fullfillment, and the second was --- the present day fulfillment - ie. - the spiritual paradise that we all enjoy. That point was harped on ad nauseum - the idea that we are ALREADY IN PARADISE. I think the leadership is beginning to worry about the length of this system of things going on as far as the eye can see, and they are sensing a growing weariness or dissatisfaction among the rank and file.
They're not 'beginning to worry' doubtful-----they're crapping in their spiritual drawers because The End is nowhere in sight and the thugs at the top know full well that people are leaving in droves. LOL!
I'm not sure if they're getting wackier, or if it just appears that way the longer you are away from their nonsense. Sorry to hear you had to go, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet until your situation changes. Sounds like you've got plans to escape once you go to university.
i just found out that a husband of an old friend committed a suicide and i was wondering if there are any letters to elders or any wts rules concerning funerals for those who committed suicide.
i've looked in the elders book and letters to boe index and didn't find anything.
some posts here say they can have the funeral at the kh and some here said they couldn't hold it there because suicide was involved.
It's changed somewhat over the years as the Organization has (finally) realized that depression can be a very complicated matter. I knew a 19 year old Witness boy who committed suicide about 5 years ago. He was bi-polar. They had the funeral at the Hall and the guy conducting it actually did a fairly decent job and even explained that someone who suffers from something like bi-polar disorder can get so low that suicide seems the only way out and that we are not to judge them for that.
