What Caused Your First Doubt ?

for me it was when i was about twelve years old and my best friends dad was disfellowshipped from the congregation.. i could not understand how a god of love would treat someone so coldly.. i used to think what if that was the way my parents would treat me if i had done something wrong, that would be so hard and cruel.. as i got older another thing that bothered me was the beard issue.

it may sound pretty trivial however the society has always refused to make a good arguement as to why they would give you the old cold shoulder if you were to grow one.. two more items; first i could not understand why all the congregations and all the assemblys would give income reports.

and the society never did.

For me it was the 1914- dogma

all my life i was told i would never get old and have to die
then they changed it- soon after that they changed the separating work of sheep and goat

i recall i was standing in the back of the hall when another former bethelite walked up to me right after that paragraph was dicussed and asked me:

"Well what the He!! are we doing then just walking around the block"

today the bro is our also- smile

i guess the biggest hit was the alternative service change

when i was in bethel i had an couple i used to spend the weekend with when i wanted to get away from bethel they lived in Upper Bronx

he was an elder and had went to jail during the 60's --now i nerver
asked him hat happened to him in prison, but according to everything i have heard and (due to his reaction to the change)

i understand that he was raped repeatedly while in jail as a 19/20 yr old

when they changed their position he called me up literally in tears

you see when he got his draft letter - he and hia mama went to the elders to see if there was anything he could do- they went to the Society's letters and literature for the answer- they had the CO in a few weeks so they decided to wait and see if the CO had any new info from the society- so when the co rolled in town they addressed it with him

the co called up to Service and asked if there was anything new on this matter and he was told WHAT DOES THE SLAVE SAY

so the bro had to go to jail- Fast forward 35YRS And the wt tells these men that the reason you went to jail is due to having a "SUPER STRICT CONSCIENCE" we never told you that you could not take the job at the hospital, roadwork, etc

man he just kept saying THEY ARE LYING THEY ARE LYING

well today he is no longer and elder and is just a BROKEN MAN

it is so sad to see all the lives that wt has destoyed trying to play Mouth PC of God how sad

Wondering about a situation

if a person in the national guard kept it a secret and started attending bible studies and made his way to getting baptized then got caught being in the military what would happen?

he would be considered DA-

but the chances of of person staying in the guard in my view is very unlikely
due to all the hoops that a person must jump thru service meeting, studying etc. they would confess long before thier baptism

i don;t see alot of folks going thru all of that to become a jw only to be kicked out

just my opinion

you all have much greater problems and common mental flaws than just being "former" jw's.. let me explain.

many (i won't generalize all of you) of you are on here ranting and raving about the jw's did this and the wt did that.

you see, i didnt have any feeling of self-worth, so i could not imagine how jehovah could ever accept my service to him.. .

Recognized by Baptism or Service Report?

i have been wondering for a while now:are jw's recognized as such by their public baptism or by .

the service report they turn in every month?.

when i was studying,i was constantly told that to become a jehovah's witness,one had to make a. public declaration by getting baptized.2 1/2 yrs after i was baptized,i was stripped of all my privileges.

What this means is that if you're not turning in a monthly report,you are really not a J-W!!But an 8yrs
old,unbaptized kid who stands at the door with mom and turns in a report because he's an unbaptized
publisher will be part of the stats,even though he's not baptized!Go figure!
So I'm wondering,am I the first one to figure this out?

You are correct on the 8yr old he is counted and you are not

i had a 82yr sick "anointed" sister call one day in tears -she hit 6months of no time and was so hurt that she would be considered inactive and may not be included in the yearly report i knew at that point that the time arrangement was bad

i was just wondering how the only true god, who has been in existence for ever and ever, would have never had to settle the issue of his sovereignty up until a few short years ago with adam?.

just before i stepped aside the CO discussed at length the problem that our territory was presenting to the pioneers

they were losing bible studies like flies

they could get them but couldn't keep them- reason why THE NET

thier family friends and workmates would download a ton of wt stuff off the net that they would raise issue with the pioneer the following week
and as he put it the friends would have a Fit since jw are so trained on how to handle "apsostate" material

the catch was as he explained to us is that the material is OLD WT PUBLICATIONS but the only thing the jw knew was it was printed on
81/2 xll paper not in a publication

of course the study would see the jw freak out and wonder WHY

why Can you show me stuff about my church - yet you run out the door when i show you something

so he told us to let the bro know NOT TO FREAK OUT but to try and calmly answer their questions and better yet - let them know we will cover that later int he study CAN YOU WAIT???
OF COURSE now i fully understand why IT IS SO IMPORTANT that we instill in them the acceptance of the FDS and once that happens then it is all moot

SO THE NET has been a very serious problem in our area- not so much for the jw learing and leaving ,but for for who are thinking about joining the jw

recently the paper showed that in some areas they ave 1.2 pc per household- we have 5 here in our house

2upstairs- 2 on the mainfloor
and a NT Server n the basement

so the net and technology will prove to continue to be a major problem for wt in the yrs to come
