to this forum at least.
i noticed a couple others posting newbie threads so i thought i'd jump on the band wagon.. i don't have a great story or tale for you all, i just walked away.
don't know what the elders told the rest of the herd.
godlike says
I don't have a great story or tale for you all
####### that is not true anyone who has survived and been able to leave a High Control group has a story
SO GIVE IT UP we are listening

back in the 60's a childless couple could be df'd if they decided to go for a child via artificial insemnation.
the reason given was that the wife would be committing adultery by taking another mans sperm into her body, the husband would be just as guilty because he consented to this.. can anyone tell me what the position is now, especially with regard to the newer sorts of infertility treatments?
it strikes me that it would take a very special type of relationship for a couple to put themselves through something like this, should a religious organisation have any input whatsoever in such a personal issue, is this not something that should only be decided by just the 2 people involved?.
from the lastest info i have on the subject
if the sperm ain't his it still constitutes adultery

had enough asked :.
if you haven't already related to us the experiences at bethel that you told to your mom-in-law, (or even if you already have told us) could you tell us about what you told her.....and...what is "g-jobbing" (sorry for my naivity) .
i didn't want to take away from sl post about his mother but i thought a little insight into the world of the bethelites would be interesting this am.
Michael3000 says
JT - this G-job thread is a pisser! Sophie! Her thing was, no matter what you were sick with, she would always make you gargle with warm salt water! That brought back memories. I was convinced that the system of "checking in" on you while you were sick didn't just ensure that you weren't faking it - it kinda made you NOT want to stay home when you're sick.
#### man you knew never to stay home sick on a Monday cause she would indeed ask you
Did you know Alan Galina? I did a G-job with him, painting & polyurethaning the home of the guy who owned that liquor store in Brooklyn Heights (I think it was on Cranberry?).
########yep I knew him- did you know Wilford Simmons
Metatron says
Now that I'm older, I can have more
understanding for guys like Willy Walker - they're scared
to leave - it's like putting a bird in a cage - eventually
you can leave the cage door open, they're too scared to
leave it.
@@@@@@@@@ that is so true do you recall John Erricatte he was a missionary up in Alaska back in the day when they use the sail boat, single man
this guy I worked with in the bindery was in his hall and one day asked him : How do you stay single all these years' he said -----sometimes you have to slam "IT"in the window-- smile
. You can tell people about Bethel all day, but
unless you've been there, they'll never understand what
a strange place it is.
#######this is so true and that is why it is good that we tell what we saw and heard ,cause otherwise all bethelites are told NEVER tell anything bad about bethel to the bro on the outside
Remember bro's hangin' small copies of porn in vent shafts
in the 124 bathroom? - just keepin' it handy, in a way that
can't be traced back to its owner
####### I heard about it but could never find a copy - smile
do you remember when each year the New boys would get called down to the mailroom in the home where George Couches wife worked and they would get DOGGGGGGGGGGGGGED FOR the Swim Suit Edition of Sports Illustrated
they had to leave that issue down there-------------
max says
Were the housekeepers still instructed to do bedsheet checks for "wet dreams"? That was the dread of the less than fastidious
Hey max I got one for you- I can't remember the year but all the guys up here who were there will remember this happening
Annoucement was made a week in advance that NO OUTSIDE GUEST WOULD BE ALLOWED to attend the Monday night wt lesson- so everyone knew it was a Special bethel talk
Then after the wt lesson ALL THE SISTERS WERE TOLD TO LEAVE
AND Dan the man Sydlik gave the talk on MASTURBATION
TOLD THE guys not to drink before bed – to sleep on their side instead of their back or stomach
It was so deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
Stuff like that YOU NEVER FORGET
JAMES
hi everyone, i have been "lurking" for a week or so and thought i'd join the fun.
i am a third generation jw who was determined not to make my kids the fourth!
my husband and i left almost five years ago and have never looked back and as a result have never been happier.. just a quick summary of the past thirteen years.... i never went to college (never even considered it) and was married two weeks after graduating from high school.
Sis P
it is goood to hear that you all are doing well- i enjoy reading results like yours when a jw leaves
in my personal exp if a jw leaves for NON-doctinal reasons - smoking sex ,etc they many times never take a look at wt history so as to fully understand why thier life was so unhapppy inside and they wanted to get out
they often time end up in destructive behavoir or destructive relationships- but for those who leave for dogma reasons rarely do they end up doing drugs , stealing etc
my wife and i figured that they were good hearted folks to start with that is why they left-
but when a person leaves it is so good to see them doing well
we all know that wt tells rank and file that those who leave become worse than before and they will often times hold up as examples those who may have fallen into destructive behavoir or relationships
they NEVER mention those of us who leave and are still with our mates and going to college, starting biz, etc
so welcome and we look forward to hearing from you

some of us were discussing the other day the 'advantages' and 'disadvantages' of disassociating from the witnesses as against being disfellowshipped (for apostasy).. it seems from reading various experiences that most departing borgites choose to send in a letter of disassociation.
for them it saves the 'hassle' of being harrassed by the modern-day philistines, the elder class.
it also saves, to some extent, the reputation of the exdub.
ozzie says:
I would think, though, that many women would find it an emotionally draining experience and very intimidating.
##########
i fully agree and not only women but also men- due mainly to the fact that the avg pub who walks into that back room has no idea of what they will exp- so they get hit from the blind side.
a few yrs after i left bethel my roomate who is truly a society man bragged about how they broke this married sister down on adultry charges- she was an elders wife who got involved with a guy on the job and they broke her down so much that this poor woman's CYCLE CAME ON an the chair was soaked in blood
what was so sad was he was proud that the "TRUTH WAS REVEALED"
the emotional toil that one could pay for some will be too high merely to TRY AND PROVE A POINT
IN MY VIEW
so this is why i have from day one highly recommended to anyone who wants out TO STAY OUT OF THE BACKROOM WITH 3 ELDERS
it is their ball and bat let them go home
JUST MY 2

ozzie - raises the issue of __.
It also saves, to some extent, the reputation of the exDub. After all, if you have JW relatives, it could be rumoured that you were DF for adultery, fornication, etc
What do you think? Is it better to send in the letter? Or should you just ignore 'them' and leave them to play their little games?
###### i have discussed this with many and it kinda boils down to each persons case is different-
if you are th only jw in your family it really don't matter- but if you are part of a 4th genration family with all kinds of relatives then perhaps it is somewhat different
but i think this is statment is not based on what the jw mindset is:
". It also saves, to some extent, the reputation of the exDub. After all, if you have JW relatives, it could be rumoured that you were DF for adultery, fornication, etc"
I don't see how with the jw mindset there can be any degree of saving of reputation- in my exp DA oneself for apostasy is viewed as worst due to how it is understood by the avg jw
say you got an ugly wife and you get involved with a Fine sister sorta like "Venice" yea i went there- smile
anyway at least the bro could say if you got dfed for "practicing sin"
they could at least understand--
"I'm sorry Venice I just could not resist going there" smile
so at least some will understand with the Ugly wife and all that you just could not control yourself--
but now to DA for Apostasy ------well this was WILLFUL, INTENTIONALY AND YOU have Turned your back on the Most High God and his Visble Org
so they will HATE you much more and your rep will be destroyed much more than for sex
as one elder told me he would perfer to serve on an apostasy case over a sex case any day
for it is like he is going up against an agent of Satan himself and he is representing Jah - were in a sex case all you got is a guy with a hard Willy Willy he could not control

@@@@@@@@@
for me personally i would never waste a $0.32 cent stamp to mail a letter due to the fact that i understand the Orgin of the whole
DA concept- it is the Brainchild of the Legal Dept
so i would never play thier game
as i have said many times before
THEY WILL HAVE TO COME AFTER MY BLACK BEHIND
if they want me

i received this recently from my mother.
the only contact i've had with any of my family since october has been an occasional email.
you are 28 years old and you made the choice to put yourself, and us, in this position.
I read thru all the post and i see the same common thread , except for Old Fred- but what do you expect from the "Microphone guy"
anyway as i told my wife this am-- this is the reason that more jw will get out "INTACT" they now have a support system that simply was not around a few yrs back for the ones who left then
in my personal view- the time has come for any lurker who wants to know will i get any support if i make a MOVE well yes you will
i was on the phone till 12 last night speaking with a person who is in the process of making a Strong Move
the most important thing is to know HOW AND WHEN TO LEAVE
when I see post like the one on this thread i find it so sad. not to dog this person , but merely to make point
this persons WAS NOT READY TO DA himself- I BEG ANYONE out there please ASK BEFORE YOU MAKE THAT MOVE this way we can help prepare you for what you can expect
as we see thruout so many post
"your mommy letter was just like mine, was it a FORM LETTER OR SOMETHING"
ONE OF THe greatest things in our favor is that WE KNOW how JW think and react to things
as i have stated many times we have THEIR BATTLE PLANS we simply need to make better use of them ahead of time.
for example this person and not to pick on this guy for it could have been anyone- before dropping that DA letter would have been fully aware of what was coming down the pipe line and at least could have started to mentally brace himself-
i realize that each persons case is differt but we do see the common thread
Jump in the water and then ask for instructions on how to swim-
we all can learn so much esp for those who are trying to decide what direction they want to go in
I look forward to the day when we will see more folks saying i made the choice to DA and i was fully prepared for the Form Letter my folks sent to me instead of What do i do now
just my 2

if you are one of the circuit overseers who reads this, or at bethel, you will need no identifier for the name.
for those of you whose chime doesn't ring:.
cos and dos trembled in fear at this name, whose desk symbol was s. powerful head of the service department, who could send you to podunkville in a minute; your life was in his hands.
I forgot to mention that Harley had this "Cane" since he walked with a limp - that thing had to have cost a Pretty Penny- but then again someone else paid for it
