I agree with designs. Not going to war, the non-racial-discrimation thing (though I've seen it in some Spanish congs in the USA), the MS does teach you good qualities as a speaker and how to address a large group of people, I've won several competitions thanks to this. And let's face it, they do have a strong social network, thinking back to my good old days, you could be anywhere and meet somebody, the second you learned you were both witnesses, you instantly became bestest friends. (even though it's all conditional).

Don't get all pissed at yourself and think eveything you've worked for is just gone and tumbled cuz of this one time. Clean up, shake off the excess dust, or in this case vodka, and get on the wagon again. Aaaaall Aboooaaard!!!!!! And......PUSH!!!

So did you get a diagnose or you need some more "test" done? So did you just happen to run into some witnesses out in service all these times? Were you actually approached? Maybe your parents pulled a few strings and finally called in the cavalry.... Or do you live in a "convention" city? You might have to put up with them for a few weeks if the latter is the case.

Thanks for the story. Very insightful. Makes me glad and I never realized my life-dream of serving there. Sounds crappy.

Why are they so anal about assembly badges?

Blondie's right. I've also had to wear name badges to most non-jw conventions I've been to. In other places, when I attended jw-conventions in Mexico and Central America, it served to ID who was really a witness. A lot of thugs take advantage of such large gatherings to pick-pocket and steal. We would be advised time and again at every oportunity to not to leave anything valuable on our seats. I for one never really mided it, it helped me to keep tabs on the sisters I liked and made a mental note to go visit that cong later.

Questions that completely dumbfound Witnesses
by Megachusen in"so is the nearness of armageddon from jehovah's perspective or from ours?".
"why is the majority of the memorial talk dedicated to bringing in more members?".
"who were the true worshipers of jehovah in the 17 hundred year gap prior to russel?".

1- From Jehovah's perspective. 100 humna years is not "near" at all, even when we compare it to the thousands of years humans have been around.
2- So more people can partake?
3- According to Jesus illustration of the fine seed and the weeds, they grew together and the weeds overgrew the wheat for a while. True worshippers were there, just not very visible.
4- He wanted to make them feel better?
5- Ahhhh, next question please.
6- To prove he's right. That's what this whole thing is about.
7- They wouldn't be able to answer these questions either. Ha!
Thy these:
1.- YOU: If someone who previously belonged to a different relion (greek orthodox) becomes a JW, how should he treat his family members? JW: With love. YOU: What if someone leaves the JW?
2.- Ask them how they'd feel about one of their children joining a club with a secret book that no one else can read. Then ask for the latest Watchtower Study artilce.
I didn't know anything about the 2 gay GB members. I'll do more research on that. Personally speaking, I don't see what the big deal is. Jesus did say that many of his followers would be homosexually inclined. Even now the JW's teach that as long as you don't act on it, the way you feel doesn't make a big difference. And just as having different cultures and women and gays adds knowledge and understanding to the congress or the army, or the Supreme Court, so maybe the JW wouldn't be such a mess if they allowed for a little more diversity.

This is too good not to share!
by HappyOutsideTheBox inin her radio show, dr laura schlesinger said that, as an observant orthodox jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.
the following response is an open letter to dr. laura, penned by a us resident, which was posted on the internet.
it's funny, as well as informative:.
