Very similar, indeed. My BIL has a was very much a company man just like that brother you described in the above link. Just because he had the elder title, did not mean that he would not be held accountable. When you receive an appointment like that, it is expected that your attitude reflects what a servant is. He wanted the title, not the responsibility. It was not my intention to bash him orignally, but he tried to go toe to toe with me and that was not the best approach with me. If you are wrong, then you are wrong. Just accept it an move on. He tried to accuse me of spreading his business when the bag of worms were already open. He should have just zipped his lip and deal with the crap that HE caused. To the poster Open Mind, If I did not know better, I would think that you were him. I hope that you were not serious about your statement concering my post. That position that was given to him did not free him from sinning. And, furthermore, If I want expose a fraud, I'll do just that!

I really enjoyed reading your experience at Bethel. I guess I would probably be in the minority when I say that I never had any desire to visit Bethel or let alone serve there. I always had a problem with congregations planning trip tours and being charged for the trip. I have contributed quite a bit of money to the Borg and I was not going to PAY extra for the privilege.

Present day, did you have one and why?
by equinox inas a mother of two young children when i came in the truth, i felt so guilty about no birthdays or christmases, i made up to them by present days.
i usually had one on my wedding anniversary in october and one at the start of the summer holidays.
i never really excepted the no birthday rule but went along with it ( put my reasoning head in the sand} and i always loved christmas.

My son never missed out on birthdays because he was the only child of his father and I, so his grandparents on his father's side more than made up for it. I always got his birthday presents the day after and he usually understood. Now, these days, I don't play that game anymore. If I want to buy someone a birthday present, including myself, I'm gonna get it for the day that it is intended for!

I heard of this story a while back and it still sickens my stomach. Yes, I know of a few cases where there was discipline that was given such as this, although none were as violent as this.

While growing up in the Midwest. my congregation was filled with working folks with sometimes less than a high school diploma. You could tell that by just observing my hall. There were a lot of poor readers who were older ones who bought into that garbage of not advancing your education. How did they think that we were going to exist in the real world? Just get it handed to us? No that did not work. Those ones who I graduated high school were indeed going to take advantage of higher education. They were not that serious into the preaching work. Most of them did very well for themselves monetarily. Yes, we had a lot of males that thought that they would get one of us sisters and make us what they wanted to make for themselves. Fortunately, I was rebellious.

i know of many many jws that "live together" only because they are married to each other.
these people almost hate each other, but would never leave their marriages and get an "unscriptural" divorce.....i know of wives that "forgave" their husbands "unknowingly".

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I could not stand this sack of shit. Please excuse the profanity, but this is a long time coming. Think, not SlipnSlideMaster, (Damn I like that name, oh well). Just call me Slide cuz i "done slided away"! My sister is beaufitul. Hell, so am I, but my thoughts are with her cuz she has other personal issues that would cause a normal person to check out. I love her a lot, I just wished she realized how much.

i personally hate it, so i ignore every object that fb friends wants to sell to me.
but i have noticed lately that active jw's, even the very serious ones, play farmville with disfellowshipped persons.

I hate Farmville. I got so many requests to play and it does not interest me in the least. I have seen "active" Witlesses still on Facebook after they were discouraged from doing so. Is the WTBTS loosing more of it's grip?
