I really did because that's what we were told to do by the Borg. I would never shun my family for the Borg. I have known too many families that had tragic results because of it.

did you feel guilty ,when ignoring disfellowshipped ones ?
by looloo ini was having an affair with a pioneer at the time and a girl who was disfellowshipped was in the loo at the hall (she actually had not done aything scriptually wrong (but the elders thought she had ) i tried to smile at her as i felt i was not in a position to judge anyone as guilt was destroying me but she just looked down at the floor , 14 years later we are good friends and both "free".
when you were "in" and ignored disfellowshipped did you ever think "im not in a position to judge anyone " ?.

I would give you the shirt off of my back cuz that's what I do, but do not, and I repeat, do not cross me. My temper can be explosive. Just ask my husband.

Why Don't JW Congregations have a Choir?
by journey-on ineven if it were just four or five good singers that practice during the week and get to know the new songbook well, this would benefit the whole congregation.
music is such a vital part of the overall emotional connection to the gathering, a well-rehearsed choir singing along with the congregation would encourage and uplift, don't you think?.
what is the society's reasoning for not doing this?.

I use to be in a choir so I'm used to harmony. Nothing sounds better when you hear a joyful praise in perfect harmony. Most Witlesses can't read music and generally are tone deaf. There were a few folks in my congo who would make the songs more interesting. They sounded to good that you could get caught up. Of course there were those staunch Witlesses who would give them dirty looks because they could sing and they couldn't. It wouldn't work because they would get the most attention and it might take away from the meeting.

Donnye,
I'm so glad that I've "failed" Jws that I can now think for myself. I'm so glad that I went on to higher education so that I could be more marketable in the "real" world. I'm so glad that I don't have migraines anymore because I didn't "do more in the ministry". I'm so glad that I can talk to anyone that I want to and not get a directive to "quit mixing in the company of unbelievers". I'm so glad that my husband does not have the attitude that I'm not worthy of an opinion and can't take the lead on some matters. I'm so glad that I don't have the GB telling me what to do in the privacy of "my" bedroom. I'm so glad that I can associate with others that have many life experiences and networking abilities. I'm so glad that I can sleep in on the weekend if I want to. I am very glad that I don't give my hard earned dollars to an organization that constantly flip-flops in the issues, while losing members every day. But one of the things that I'm so glad of is that "I didn't marry an elder". So if that is what you a failure, then I got both hands "Raised" for ya!

I said I would do it and I just did, told my mom I want nothing to do with the org anymore
by Soldier77 ini would copy and paste my emails with my mom, but that would probably be too revealing.. anyway, i said in a post a while back that i was going to tell my mom i no longer want anything to do with the organization.
there have been a series of emails between the two of us lately and she was probing to see what was going on with me.
i haven't been out in fs in almost a year and i haven't been to a thursday night mtg in over 9 months.

Very courageous. I wish that I could have done a long time ago. Right now in my life, I owe no one any explanations about what I do with my life anymore. The guilt trips and love fests don't work. I am a grown woman and I don't owe any group of men any reasons as to why I no longer attend the meetings anymore. Too many of us have given them the too much control of our lives when we don't need to. Like someone said above, they would never catch me in any meetings with any elders. Hell, they need to clean up their own messes in their lives.

Do You Hate The Jehovah's Witness Religion?
by minimus ini see some here who seem to despise the religion.
others seem to feel that witnesses are wacky but they don't hate them.. do you hate this religion?.

I hate the Borg for destroying many families. Most of the people that I have met have been pleasant. You do get those ones who live and breathe for the Borg and that is very unfortunate.

The GB really do not want us to think for ourselves Mar 15th WT
by life is to short ini know that some of you might think that i really should be reading the wt but with a husband still in and being that i am still very tied to the religion though him i want to know what is up with them in some ways.. the march 15th wt made me feel sick.
on page 5 it was talking about how we need to wait on jehovah.
it was really the same old stuff but i feel with a different twist.

This is same ole same ole. I have been hearing these types of illustrations for years. It's just that the names change. We can never do enough in the preaching work. I used to get the guilt trip from several sisters who thought that I just could walk up to my boss and demand some days off. They tried to present several ways that this could be done. It was always those sisters who did not work for themselves and had husbands at home. In the real world, you don't do that and especially now that the economy sucks and many are out of work. And if I were to take them up on their suggestions, would I just rely on Jehovah to take care of me, or for that matter, rely on the good graces of the congregation. I would be called lazy and they would be unwilling to come to my aid.
