as a born in jw my outlet was always music.

my parents let me do piano lessons (from another sister) and when i was 14 i lobbied hard enough for a guitar.

i formed a decent punk/emo type in high school behind my parents back.

How do I as a future "Therapist" help ex-jws that won't move on from the WT?

i am halfway through my master's program in psychology/sociology and plan on being a therapist/sounselor.

i left jw's in 1988 and i have never looked back.

i enjoy my life so much after getting my aa degree, then my ba degree, and now i will soon get my ma degree.

Booker - I am a psychology professor, and I have degrees in both psychology and sociology. I am unaware of any combined MA in psychology/sociology that is a program in counseling that leads to fulfilling the educational requirements for licensure as a therapist or counselor in any state. Are you in a sociology MA program studying sociological social psychology (which is not a therapy/counseling program)?

Don't go to a for-profit. Stick with a well-regarded ground campus. Many state universities also allow you to do courses online or hybrid. Don't go to an online school!!!

What idiocy. I maintain that the bat-crap crazy nutty things that come from the Watchtower will eventually be their undoing. They are so disconnected from reality, that more people will reconize this as the decades progress.

There will be more than a few JWs who read that passage and know that there is indeed something rotten in Denmark.

How Do The Two Masturbation Guys Feel?

i'm wondering how they feel about their likeness being spammed all over the internet right now?

i'll bet they didn't sign up for this kind of attention.. it reminds me of an article wired magazine did on youtube a couple years ago about people that had their careers or social life ruined by a viral youtube video.. anyway, it would be interesting to find out who these guys are and what may or may not end up happening with them over this..

attending an invite (strange we're invited but hoping to make it worth my while) but i don't want to suffer big consequences as i've already said enough wrong stuff.

i'm stuck reading hassan's ccmc book (about half way --- just don't have time and not into it).

May I follow up my post with a modified suggestion? When a JW comes to the door, ask them one of the best questions on here, one that they might not be ready for. After they answer, say you got that line from JWN, and that there are so many posts there on what to say to JWs at the door. Tell them that for the good of their ministry, they need to go to JWN to see what kind of opposition they are up against so as to be very well prepared at the door. Perhaps have some BLANK "business card" size cards or even another form of a small blank card handy with a pen (pre-made JWN cards would create major alarm bells). Jot down the JWN website. Emphasize how there is information there they need to see for their preaching work. Do let them know as well that they will probably have to sift through a lot of posts on many different subjects, but it's well worth an hour or so on the site to get to the info that will help them help others. Warmly wish them the very best in their ministry.
