I just had a flashback to the Flashdance theme song. It was banned from our home/car radio in a major way!!!! My father thought the words "Take your passion, and make it happen" were "Take your pants down, and make it happen."

ecan6 - this is a great response. Not one that they would be ready to deal with probably. They are used to those who say "Yeah, I know, I need to be more regular, bla bla bla." But to turn that around, and not even recognize the rule that meeting attendance is expected at every meeting (except in very rare circumstances) to get a ticket for entry into the Paradise Earth TM (if you're lucky)...well that has to be confusing for them. LOL. Saying you have a goal to be there once or twice a month -- well, how do they even respond to that? Is there anywhere in Bible that says a certain number of meetings a week are required? If they tell you that the Bible says " do not foresake the gathering of yourselves together" you can always say "I'm not! I'm very regular with my bi-weekly attendance." LOL. Love it.

Can'tleave - Rugby...awesome. So much better than American football. Would it surprise anyone to say that Ben Cohen is my absolute favorite sportsperson ever in the history of the universe?

James - yikes, you may want to edit your last post just to be extra careful to protect your identity. Maybe delete the content and put a smile there instead? I'm the paranoid type though.

Absolutely, positively epic. What a shock the secretary got, ay? Last thing he expected surely. I bet he was expecting a sob story of (pick one or more): depression, too much work, needing to sort yourselves out, family troubles, desperation to come back but somehow paralyzed with fear/anxiety/shame...
What an awesome wife you have there.

Quendi, it is truly a pleasure to have you respond. I enjoy reading your posts. I can think of a few I remember off the top of my head, including your move away from Colorado (30 years there, right?) to Alabama and some posts and comments on gay marriage. Oh! And you wrote a book (science fiction, right?).
The reason I remember the Colorado to Alabama post so well is that I love Colorado (so beautiful!), and experienced a move from someplace I loved dearly after many years to where I am now. I grieved for about 10 years after for that special place I left. I also know you are always so supportive of LGBT issues. And I think you do or did work as a teacher, right?
But I can't remember how you exited the TruthTM or your educational path. I'd love to know these things. You are always such a joy to read. I love your writing. Thank you for your kind words and support.
P.S. Don't even get me started on the topic of reading the mags being equivalent to a college education. It is as far removed from that as anything I can think of. I know you will agree. In college, it's not so much about "facts" but about developing critical thinking skills and learning how to learn. Reading some trashy mags written at the 3rd grade level just ain't gonna cut it!
