Hey Mac! Great to read you. How many is a ton? It's awesome to hear that people are coming to their senses. I wonder if more of this is likely to happen and accelerate in the next 10-20 years...One can but hope. Unfortunately, my family is entirely, totally beyond hope.

then as an answer to him some of the scribes and pharisees said: teacher, we want to see a sign from you.
in reply he said to them: a wicked and adulterous generation keeps on seeking for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of jonah the prophet.

It takes a lot of cognitive acrobatics to arrive at the current Watchtower understanding of the word generation. It seems an awfully big stretch as an attempt to account for why the Big A hasn't hit yet. The society will surely be updating the current understanding of "generation" when they eventually have to.
Are there things (doctrine, prophecy, policy) from the Watchtower that you don't agree with? There have to be at least some policy disagreements. After all, if you are a current witness (don't know if you are or aren't), you aren't supposed to be here, period.
Maybe it's just me, but you seem to be a less abrasive version of your previous self? :)

NVL - I just read your most recent post that you were probably writing when I was writing my message above. I honestly, honestly believe that posts such as yours can be of enormous help. Your post may help someone today or this week. But it's here as a record. Perhaps in a few months or next year or even in five years or more someone will read your post and be helped by it. Thank you for taking the time to write this up. It's extremely well written and richly detailed. I'm of the opinion that sharing the good, the bad and the ugly on our current/former (whichever is the case) lives as JWs on sites such as this is very important.

My JW Relatives Don't Call or Write...Is This Normal?

they weren't like this when they were still catholics.
are they told not to have anything to do with non-members, even family?

Unless they leave the cult someday, it will never be a real family relationship. There will not be true reciprocity. You can choose to stay in touch with them, and they will probably be polite and chat with you when you initiate the connection. But don't really expect them to reciprocate. If they stay in, it will likely be a one way relationship that you have with them. It's up to you to figure out if that's ok with you or not.
