Does anyone else have a fear of leaving because of these scriptures? I do. I wish I didn't, but I do.
Despite their claims, there is no proof or any way to prove conclusively that being one of Jehovah's Witnesses puts one in compliance with these scriptures. JW's are "captive" to the notion that they are the only ones who are on the "narrow road" or are prepared enough for "the end". They believe they are being "ridiculed" as it says in 2 Peter, when anyone simply disagrees with them or points out the many incorrect dates they've held out as significant. Or when anyone is able to provide proof of their having made false prophecies or having covered up their own past wrongdoing. Despite the scriptures admonition not to judge others, they have virtually condemned, via their literature and teachings, billions in the world to death simply because they do not buy into the notion that their leaders in New York are being led by God. Anyone who belongs to a religion at some point must have bought into the idea that theirs is the one true one. Otherwise why would they they stick with it? If they have serious doubts, it is often fear of the unknown, superstitious thinking, lack of knowledge or direction and sheer habit or laziness that makes them stick with it their entire lives. This human tendency is how the different religions survive ,sometimes even thinking their longevity or growth is a result of god blessing them. JW's are no different It seems to me, many are in it because they have based their beleifs on fearful one sided information and have been made afraid to look at it from any other angle. For most JW's, it just happens to be the one they somehow got mixed up in and have become afraid of leaving for the same reason....it's how it has survived this long.
