Glad you're OK LB...I knew you would feel better after you'd had a rest. Even though we were on high alert for a time, you did the right thing by venting your feelings to us. I'm on the west coast of the U.S and read your comment late last night and was wondering about you on my commute in to work this morning. I was happy to log on here to find out you're ok.
Remember not to trust your feelings about life and the big picture when you're down or tired. You just won't be able to come up with anything hopeful when your tired or in a low mood. Remember the word H.A.L.T. as an acronym for Hungry, Angry, Lonley, Tired. If you are any of those things.....don't trust any thoughts you may have about the big picture.....pull yourself back into the moment and do something positive to comfort yourself in the now. Print out the( Poem ?) below and memorize it or keep it with you so that when you are feeling low, you can say it to yourself, replacing your negative thoughts with more positive ones, until you are feeling better.
JUST FOR TODAY
1. Just for Today, I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life-problem at once. I can do some things for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt I had to keep them up for a lifetime.
2. Just for Today, I will be Happy. This assumes that what Abraham Lincoln said is true, that “most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Happiness is from Within; it is not a matter of Externals.
3. Just for Today, I will Adjust myself to what Is, and not try to Adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my family, my business, and my luck as they come, and fit myself to them.
4. Just for Today, I will take care of my Body. I will exercise it, care for it, and nourish it, and not abuse it nor neglect it; so that it will be a perfect machine for my will.
5. Just for Today, I will try to strengthen my mind, I will study. I will learn something useful, I will not be a mental loafer all day. I will read something that requires effort, though and concentration.
6. Just for Today, I will exercise my Soul. In three ways, to wit:
(a) I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out. If anybody knows of it, it will not count.
(b) I will do at least two things I don’t want to do, as William James suggests just for exercise.
(c) I will not show any one that my feelings are hurt. They may be hurt, but Today I will not show it.
7. Just for To-day, I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, talk low, act courteously, be liberal with flattery, criticize not one bit nor find fault with anything, and not try to regulate nor improve anybody.
8. Just for Today, I will have a Programme. I will write down just what I expect to do every hour. I may not follow it exactly, but I’ll have it. It will save me from the two pests Hurry and Indecision.
9. Just for Today, I will have a quiet half hour, all by myself, and relax. During this half hour, some time, I will think of God, so as to get a little more perspective to my life.
10. Just for Today, I will be Unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to be Happy, to enjoy what is Beautiful, to love and to believe that those I love love me.

Yes Scotoma that's exactly where my thoughts went,
What about the JW parent who's child died of some illness or in an accident ? Why didn't Jehovah answer their prayers begging him to save thier child.
Or what about the parents of this alleged orphan boy ? Jehovah let them die so that someone elses prayer for a child would be answered ??
How can they not see the irony when they hear these stories?

This Urban Legend/Anecdote was on the Facebook page of a JW who is a Facebook friend of mine. It's kind of long but tell us what you think....it was all I could do to stop myself from making a snarky comment. What would you have said.
A young couple very much wanted to have a family, but his wife could not conceive, so they decided to adopt a baby. They have been to many agencies and were told it would take several years before they could [hold] a baby in [their] arms, but if they wanted to adopt one from a foreign country, like Korea or Vietnam, they'd get a baby very soon. They were told that if they seek a child of 7 or 8 years, they could [have] one almost immediately. So they filled the request [for] a foreign child older [child]. While all this was happening, the couple was contacted from house to house by a minister of Jehovah's Witnesses. They began to study, progressed very quickly and were soon baptized. They became very active in the field service and decided to regular pioneer. Therefore, they would wait until the new system to have children. They went to the adoption agency and informed about their circumstances and told them about their desire to stop the adoption process. However, they were informed that the agency had just been notified that a little boy from Vietnam was coming to them. The agency urged them not to cancel.
With mixed emotions they went home to think about [it]. They put it in prayer to Jehovah and decided to go ahead with the adoption. They figured that since he was older and was in school most of the day, they could follow through with its plans to pioneers, and wait to see how things would go. They have prepared their home for the arrival of their new son, packed the room, brought many toys and put a copy of "My Book of Bible Stories" on the dresser. Finally the day came to bring the boy home. They showed him the kitchen and the living room. He looked so sad and silent. Then they showed him his room. He barely looked at the room full of toys, but immediately noticed the book of Bible Stories. He ran and grabbed the book and hugged it close to his chest and began to cry. When they were finally able to calm him to enable to speak, he explained to them that both his mother and her father were Jehovah's Witnesses before they were killed in Vietnam. He had been praying to Jehovah for him to be adopted by a family of Jehovah's Witnesses.
This experience was recounted in a Circuit Assembly in California. The District Superintendent concluded by saying: "Never think that Jehovah does not answer prayers, even those of a little child." Does your target seem impossible? Does your stumbling block appear immovable? Is your problem bigger than your God? Is it? Never forget that the only thing impossible for Jehovah is for Jehovah to lie; everything else, everything is possible! Encouraging experiences further increases confidence in our Creator God Jehovah. -

Share the Craziest far out ideas/arguments you have heard about life in the "NEW SYSTEM"
by BU2B inreally the whole thing is ludicrious but it is hilarious and sad at the same time to see grown people arguing about weather there will be cars, planes, eat meat, what about fish, etc in a place as imaginary as oz, yet to them it is reality.. the teaching of a paradise earth was so illogical it really was the first thing that started me on the path to waking up.
just the thought that someone could greet their beloved spouse who had died only to come to the realization that they could never be together again struck me as so cruel, i didnt want to live there even if it was all true.. i have heard jws say they think we might be able to fly, read minds since we will be able to use 100% and some seem to think life would be an endless vacation, with modern conveniences with no thought to all the processes and work that goes into something simple like a pencil.
i love the article jwfacts has on the flaws of any theory or teaching of paradise earth.. what are some things you have heard discussed/argued in car groups, gatherings etc when you were in?.

Funny how the in the story they pointed out that the Sisters were excited to go shopping (silly Women) but the (more sensible) Brothers went out instead, bringing back all kinds of material good like fine china and even a motor home. Hopefully they managed to navigate the motor home past all the destruction and dead bodies and werent too upset by the stench of those who hadn't been buried because they were busy collecting china and silverware that belonged to other people.
I notice they went straight for the material items that the worldly people produce and seemed to gloat that they are all dead now becasue they didn't listen to the message. Sounds like it was written by someone with a materialistic and unloving outlook rather than by someone who truly cares about his fellow man. He feels superior to his fellow man and is only engaging in the preaching work to save his hide from destruction by his God.

We'll all be naked in the New System but neckties will still be mandatory for brothers at the meetings. (extra long and extra wide ones and a tie pin to hold them in place)
There won't be any tears or pain so when you're walking through paradise and a Coconut falls out of a tree onto your noggin, you'll just keep on going. The blood will dry up and your dented skull will just repair itself.
Everyone's bodies will be perfect but some of the sisters will still think theirs aren't as good as everyone elses.
We're going to live on other planets....what else are they for ??
We will live forever but our much anticipated and much loved pet Lions, Dolphins and Polar Bears will die every so often. Again....no tears over this on our part.
Everyone's homes will be painted Watchtower issued yellow with green trim. No individualism or trying to stand out from others by being creative or unique.

WTF just happened??? An elder I haven't seen in years stopped by to hand me a XXXXXXXX !!!
by Calebs Airplane inso yesterday afternoon, an elder who lives only 3 blocks away drives up to my house as i was about to enter my car.
as he gets out of his car, i noticed he had a stack of photocopied paper in his hand and he seemed quite nervous.
i was genuinely happy to see him nonetheless since he is pretty easygoing and very likeable.

I get the strong sense that elder #1 feels badly that he didn't handle things differently with you and now that he's moving wanted to use any old excuse to break the ice one more time. He probably did it on the spur of the moment not thinking about the time on the flyer or even with the hope of you coming to his garage sale. Who knows...maybe he is having a JW crisis of his own and isn't quite far enough along in it to know it himself.
As far as elder #2's comment...what a slap in the face that must have been. I get the sense with him that he isn't sure enough about the doctrines of his own religion to face you without a wingman. Such arrogance and officiousness is a sign of weakness and fear and an indication that his motives are not based in love or concern for you as an individual. One is not being ones self when one is being officious or operating in an official capicity. It's the curse that often comes along with a position of authority. As hard as it is to do...one has to feel for these guys...cut em' some slack.

There are times when JW's are mistreated in the workplace and should take legal action but don't because they want to be a good example.
I remember in the late 1980's when my lovely Mom was in her early 50's and learned how to drive and got her first job ever as a Bank Teller. Although she looked like a film star, she never had enough confidence in herself or appreciated how smart and talented she was. Getting this job was a big deal. She was excited, scared and unsure all at the same time. We were all so proud of her. She had come to this country as a young woman with two children to care for, then later had two more, consequently she had never had a job outside the home before. Up to that point, she had only taken care of us and was an Aux.Pioneer. It was during the holidays when she started her new job. Wouldn't you know, right off the bat, the Woman Manager put her in charge of decorating the giant Christmas tree in the lobby of the bank. Of course poor Mom had to take a "stand" for Jehovah, when all she wanted to do is fit in at her new job and not cause any problems. The Manager was angry....couldn't stand JW's in the first place, now she had one working for her. She was rotten to Mom from then on. She'd come home in tears in the evening overwhelmed by what she had to learn as well as the way she was being treated. After the Holidays, the Manager announced in front of everyone that since Mom didn't help with the decorating, she could be the one in charge of taking them all down. Mom climbed a ladder in a dress and took down all the lights and decorations by herself and packed them up. She was then instructed to take the 20 foot tree down and drag it out of the lobby into the parking lot. Mom was an elegant and dainty woman and the tree was too heavy for her to manage and it came crashing down on top of her causing a big scene. The other women wanted to help but the Manager wouldn't let them. Mom managed to slide the tree across the marble floor then wrestle it halfway through the lobbies double doors, but it became stuck as the branches were too wide to fit. The customers and other employees were looking on as she struggled with it, she was embarrassed, her back was aching, she was sweaty and her hair was "all aske" as she later described it. Understandably, she became overwhelmed and then eventually, just plain angry. She went over to her desk, got her purse and ran out to her car and drove home in tears. Later the Manager drove over to our house, fearing that she'd be sued, I'd guess, because she apologized and begged Mom to come back to work. In a Christian manner,so as not to bring further reproach on the organization , Mom declined.
When we all got home that evening and saw her so upset ,feeling like a failure and heard what happened, my non JW Dad and us kids wanted revenge. But as always, she made us do the right thing. Mom never had the courage to try getting another job and broke our hearts when she died about two years later from Cancer. Oh how I'd have loved to know who that Woman was who was such a bully to my Mom....that would never happen today.

ANONYMITY (Is it really possible on the Internet?)
by Terry ini should begin by screaming the word: no!.
keeping secret your identity while posting in a public forum is like removing your pubic hair with a blowtorch.
which is to say, theoretically possible but not at all feasible!.
