  If it brings up unwanted thoughts for someone to dance or attend a "dance party" maybe they should stay away from them or maybe they should finally learn some self control. The trouble is, if you get a few of those types in a congregation or in a position of authority, they'll often impose thier problem on everyone and suddenly no one can do anything except have Bible based costume parties.

  When your work mates throw you a suprise birthday party and it's the first one you've ever attended in your life let alone ever celebrated of your own.

  You still get giddy with delight on meeting nights and on Sunday mornings just realizing that you don't have to go.

  When you drive by the stadium where the District Assembly is being held and realize how small and insignificant that little JW world is.

  All the suits you have hanging in the closet have dust on the shoulders.

  You realize how judgemental and closed minded you've been taught to be about so many things and you start marveling at the good that people can accomplish and how strong, charitable and good so many people are just because they want to be.

  You put lights on your house at Christmas just because they brighten up the dreary winter and you hope a JW drives by and sees them.

  When in Rome.....

  hi there.. have finally taken the bull by the horns and booked a trip to rome.

  always wanted to go.

  great architecture, food and atmosphere.. of course, i have to do the vatican.after seeing it all in angels and demons, plus the sistine chapel etc..... has anyone else been to rome??

  Good for you....isn't it great to have something to look forward to ?

  Haven't been to Italy yet but we're planning to go in the Fall. Bring your Green Bible, maybe we'll see you there and visit the Italian Bethel. (oh wait...they went out of business) Will you be going anywhere else such as the Amalfi Coast? If you come up with some good ideas, let us know.

  hello friends..... i have posted off and on for maybe a year and half?...

  just to update you guys on where i am.

  writing this makes me feel better.. i was baptized when i was 9 years old along with the rest of my immediate family.

  Hi Nolonger,

  Is there a little voice inside your head telling you there is something a little messed up about wanting to go back to a woman who cheated on you with a fellow JW when the two of you were practically newlyweds ? She's now living a debauched life (from a JW standpoint) yet will only take YOU back if YOU return to the religion SHE has been expelled from ?

  If so, listen to that voice....it's your subconscious reminding you of what you what you already know. It sounds like she is another casualty of the JW religion who still believes it's "The Truth" on some level and is acting out her self loathing by doing things that are ultimately damaging to her. Right now you are in the grieving process which is no time to make any big moves just to relieve the pain your undergoing. I'm sure there's more to the story but so far I see red flags all over this situation.She cheated on you and is disfellowshipped so why is she calling the shots?

  Have you gotten counseling or has she ? It might be a good idea to have a professional help you sort out your feeling so you can make a decision based on logic rather than emotion. If you are happy not being a JW, going back might work for awhile but this problem will keep resurfacing until you sort it all out before you make a final decision.

  My wife went through this for a couple of years. Suddenly in the middle of the night she'd throw the covers off and start fanning herself. During the day she'd suddenly have to take off whatever she could and fan herself. She also had certian skin issues as well. Fortunatly it has tapered off and only occurs on rare occasions.   i was in the yard doing some weeding when two gentlemen walked through the gate.

  What a great conversation !

  I always love how Jehovah's Witnesses dismiss science as limited human reasoning until science proves something they believe is true. Then they will quote the scientist or refer to the scientific study, in their publications.

  Nauseating JW.org section for small children - CUTOUTS? Really?

  i am not hot linking to jw borg, but they have a whole section for obviously very small children (become j's friend, with a whole array of caleb-related stuff).

  i have actually never visited the site, today was the first time, because i wanted to check a technical information about their websites architecture and came across this sh*t!.

  the way they are targeting small kids is nauseating me (i have a 5 year old, still in with her mother).

  Looks like Caleb and Sophia might be wearing the special magic underwear that Mormons wear.

  But seriously, I think this will backfire when the little kids being raised on this become teens and eventually see through the obvious manipulation and will despise having been made fools of as children.

  Reunion- Stepping Back to a Time Before All the JW Stuff Started

  although i was exposed to the jw's as a child as the only religion i knew, i was not a jw until i got out of the navy as a conscientious objector.

  so i was typical "worldly" when i hit 18 out of high school and i got to see the world before personal catastrophy involving heavy drinking made me turn to the lies that i thought were "the truth.

  " so just over 30 years ago, i got the special privilege of serving as the original crew of a brand new ship with a crew slightly over 200. i served 5 years on the "uss worldly" and then left to become a jw.. when you are the first crew, you learn together how to use that ship, how to run things smoothly.

  There's nothing like reconnecting with friends you made when you were young. I don't think you ever make bonds like that again in life or have too many opportunities later in life to share such camaraderie with others. I'm glad you went and it was uplifting for you.
