How to upload pictures from photo bucket

How do you do it?...please help

Choose the photo you want from your Photobucket account and you should see several "URL addresses" shown to the right of your photo. These will be used to link your photo to JWN. The URL addresses will look like this...http://photobucket.com/1234blahblahetc

"Copy" the URL address that is located in the area marked "Direct"

Come back here to your JWN comment box and click on the Insert/Edit icon located just above the text area

( the insert/edit button is the on with a ♣ little green tree on it)

Click on that "♣ little green tree" and a box will pop up that has an area marked "Image URL"

"Paste" the "Direct URL image Address" you copied from your photobucket account, into the space marked "Image URL"

Click on the "Insert" button at the bottom of the pop up box.

Your photo should now be visible in the body of your JWN comment.

Do you agree that there was a different feel to the org in the times depicted in the film?

Yes I do MAGNUM and I completly understand your sentiments and for a moment I even found myself getting caught up in the mood of the movie.

At the same time I realized that when we were steeped in the JW mindset we tended to buy into the image they were trying to portray and we likely projected our own feelings and personal intentions onto other people or upon the events and occasions they organized for us .

I also realize that at a certain point in life we begin to look back on the past with rose colored glasses. That's not to say that I think it's impossible to have fond memories about the past that are based in reality but I know that one has to be careful that our overly glorified memories of the past aren't making us dissatisfied with the present or even causing us to contemplate ways to return to those bygone days.

I heard the International Assemblies in Poland were the worst. You can't even see the stage during the Drama's. Apparently no matter where your seat is, you end up sitting behind a Pole.

You have to remember that this is a propaganda film. The music ,the carefully edited scenes with smiling faces and friends hugging eachother as violins play is meant to tug at your nostalgic heart strings. Change the music....show a few shots of kids sitting in the sun for hour upon hour listening to Fred Franz's manical voice....women waiting in line with children to use a bathroom, families sitting all day on hard bleachers under a plastic tarp as a rain squall passed over.... old ladies and pregnant women being hauled off on stretchers after passing out, Apostates picketing outside, a disfellowshipped person sitting all by himself and the film would take on a whole different feel.

For me the only thing good about the Assemblies was seeing your friends during the breaks. The good memories I have of the assemblies were only momentary and they are only considered good when they are compared to the rest of the Assembly experience.

Congregation Pledge Disgusted Elder

at the meeting the other night, the elder who had to read the announcements, which included the $$ info for the new donation arrangement seemed downright disgusted as he read the announcements and asked for the vote.

he said, "well, here is another organizational change" as he read the letter about the discontinuation of the 2nd meeting during co visit.

then after they voted, he said if you have any questions ask this other elder as if he wanted nothing to do with it.

People will turn a blind eye and let a lot of things "slide" but when it comes to money....their money, they will suddenly "pay more than the usual attention". Abstract doctrines can be easily excused or ignored but money is a tangible commodity that most people can relate to. This call to have individuals commit to a specific dollar amount each month may just be the "straw that broke the camel's back" for those who have been ignoring the significance of the recent doctrinal changes.

Scott77's original post may be of interest to those who are new to this forum or those who missed seeing it before.

The movie was filmed in the obvious "propaganda" style with it's intent to produce a sense of immediacy and to convince or sway the viewer into believing whatever point the producer was trying to make. It reminds me of the old JW produced movie called "Heratage" which used to be shown on T.V and in the Kingdom Halls quite regularly during the 1960's and 70's. If you listen closely, it even sounds like they even used the same Narrator. I'll post the links to "Heratage" , below.

I don't think there will be a mass exodus in the future rather it will be a case of people staying away from the Cult.... in droves

The new and improved Watchtower...

i just saw my first watchtower magazine in about 15 years...it was tucked under my doormat.

all i can say is wow!

i was shocked at how small and flimsy it was.

They direct JWs to go Door-to-door to offer a magazine which tells people about their website which features this same magazine!

It all seems rather silly, don't you think?

That's kind of like calling someone on the phone to let them know you sent them an email.

My Story

i'm 30 years old, and i was raised in the organization, my parents and grandparents are witnesses.. i grew up in a small town, and due to boredom or adhd or rebellion, i never took 2 minutes to look into the religion.. i always went to meetings and field service.

my parents were regular, but never "super-witnesses" so it was always the thing we did (meetings and service) not much more and nothing less.. the congregation, that i grew up in was for the most part friendly and enjoyable.. small towns, are very unique and they cannot be compared to larger city congregations.. i honk that they are a living and breathing organism, depending on the coordinators personality, so goes the personality of the congregation.

thi king back, most of the people in the town that i grew up were good people, just simple hard working & honest people... i really long for the innocence, of the time when this was the truth, and there were no worries.. driving to the conventions at 3 am with my dad and another brother, them slicing meat, me sneaking around the halls of the college, getting into all kinds of things.. conventions were a really special time for me... when i was young me and my friends would run around, messing around, pulling pranks on people, getting into forbidden areas.. running in the hall ways.

What is worse, the likes of me and you (and I believe many on this forum) were even unique in the JW's. We actually believed it.

True...and many of us probably thought everyone else "got it" and there was something flawed in us for beleiving it yet at the same time not quite "getting it".
