when i look back at history, i see the great lengths people have gone to, to prove their devotion to god and to carry out what they though to be his will.. do you think the watchtower organization is truly trying to deceive people and cover things up or do you think they are honestly misguided or mistaken in some of their beliefs and policies ?

I would rather buy a new car if at all possible....If I do buy a used one, It's because I need a car right now and cant wait till I have enought to buy the one I really want !

As difficult as it is...the couple obeying the "no sex" before marrige law,(IMHO) is better off in the long run as they have avoided unwanted pregnancy, venereal diesease and have tested their relationship to see what it is truly based on.
I was the weak one during our engagement. If it had not been for her strength... we wouldn't have made it down the asile without breaking this law. Although she truly wanted to... with quiet reslove she insisted on waiting because she believed it was the best thing to do. I have always admired her strength and determination in this and have always been able to trust her in everything from the very beginning. She's still that way 30 years later.
just a few minutes ago i was sitting facing my front window when i see two men in white shirts carrying books walk by towards the back of my fourplex.
i waited to see if they were who i thought they were and sure enough they were jws each carrying a bible and that little yellow book.
i walked out of my apartment towards the front to get my mail and i see the two men enter a suv and a third man was sitting in the back.

See how hard we try to make sense out of something no one could possibly know or prove, especially after we have been lead to believe someone else has a real answer?

my health is good but i do worry about how the economy affects my income.

Nobody has it made...I have 3 friends who are multi millionaires...they worry about losing it. Money makes it easier in many ways but only to a point. Once you have what you need...excess money has no bearing on ones contentment.
I tend to worry about things I have no control over like....how things will be for my kids in the future.
They say if you are worrying, it's because you are thinking too far into the future.
If you're angry...it's because you are looking to closely into the past.
The only place where the mind is most peaceful is in the present moment. Children do this naturally....but somwhere along the way, they are taught to worry about their futures. Especially Witness kids who grew up expecting a Cataclysmic event to strike at any moment and were taught to read universal significance into every world event or natural disaster.

Yep...a kitchen/lunchroom as well as a seperate apartment currently occupied by a special pioneer and his wife.

this afternoon i got a letter stating that i was accepted to accompany a ww 2 veteran on a flight to washington dc to visit the ww2 memorial in september.. www.honorflight.org.
i also was called to check up on the health of several horses that some friends of my wife adopted, they are very underweight belgians, and these.
new owners want to make sure that they are taken care of.
Plenty of people quit smoking and drinking on their own. Some do it through the use of medications or 12 step programs such as AA. Many a Christendom church member had a shady past that they have left behind. The Witnesses have always claimed this to be exclusive of their organization.
this is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.

Thanks DGP. I am happy to report that he is alive and well but will need to be monitored for the next 5 years. This experience was the last straw for his Mom and I, Witness wise, his brother called it quits also. We realized there is something terribly wrong with an organization that can convince, otherwise loving people, to be so cruel to someone in such dire circumstances. Ironically, he was reinstated a short time ago and is back among his long time friends but he has seen the scary side of this organization and the power it has to devistate families and alter the course of peoples personal lives. We are just happy he is still with us, Witness or not. Ironically, he should be shunning his Mother, Brother and myself now because of our leaving...but won't. Ours is not a textbook case and the elders are steering clear of us it seems. Almost 30 years at the same hall and it's as if we never existed.
I used to be suspisious of former Witnesses telling stories like this, thinking there had to be more to it than they are telling. It all changes when it happens to you.

Sometimes the best "revenge" ( if you want to call it that ).....Is Living Well.
My wife is from a large family, two sisters left the Org. as soon as they turned 18. and have been shunned for the last 30 years. Both are highly succesful college grads. One is a marketing exec. for a high profile nautical co. and lives in a beautiful area of the country. The other owns a thriving business in a very fun industry and has many employees. She is regularly featured in the media for her contributions to her community and her industry. Her children are all in Universities on various full ride scholarships and are into all kinds of interesting activities. On the other hand the rest of her talented, bright and smart JW siblings are happy enough, but are in dead end occupations and pioneering and all of ttheir kids got married right out of highschool. One of her brothers is in Bethel and now that he's been there so long I worry that he won't have anything to fall back on should he ever choose to leave due to age or illness and be in need of retirement funds.
As for me...I feel like something good is in the wind. Your story makes me feel that way even more. Thanks !
