Being honest with yourself, could you have reasonably adjusted your attitude and continued on as a JW?

to some degree, i think i understand where she's coming from.

just speaking from my own experiences since stepping into the world of anonymous apostacy, i went through a few different phases of personal outlooks.

I have to admit that there's plenty of institutions everyday people are a part of, that during their involvement with, they cannot speak their mind too openly. Such as school, or your place of employment. Why should we expect any more with any religious institution?

There is more to it than not being able to speak openly such as at a place of employment where you fear some unfair employer would get rid of you if you were to be truly honest and say what you are thinking. You might expect this kind of unfair behavior from mere worldly men. The difference is that THEY (JW's) claim to be led by the one true God. They are mankinds direct connection to him....the only way to eternal salvation is by submitting to and following their direction. They taught us to expect more from them...to expect them to reflect the love of God, to expect a loving brotherhood, afterall these are the things that would identify them as the true religion. They claim to be the only truth and light in the world, yet time and time again their truths have been completly wrong,rearranged or deleted. Millions of publications with misinformation were spread by volunteers old and young all over the globe. People altered their lives and based everything around their claims only to be told decades later that what they learned and trusted, was wrong and an adjustment in attitude on their part would make it all better. If you disagree with your boss at work, speak your mind and get fired, your friends and family can still talk to you and you are free to find other employment. You don't feel damned by God....you are even free to seek legal aid in correcting an unfair situation. The JW's so thoroughly convince their members that there is nowhere else to go because all other avenues to God are based in Satanic worship that thousands and thousands of them are just playing along because they are so deep into it that they have no other choice.

As you say, there are plenty of institutions that people are involved with that are the same...yes, but most people leave them as soon as possible.

Just feeling a little down in the dumps tonight...

...though i guess the reasons why are silly.

in a sense, but it makes me wonder on what's to come in the future.. i hate it this time of the year with a wife in the cult who's been taught not to celebrate christmas.

my company is having a holiday party and she agreed to go to one but because we were also bought out and some of us are leaving and moving on, someone decided to have another one with just the employees of our company alone.. i wanted to go to that one too, but i did not want to go alone.

It's a shame you have to miss out or go alone to these things. Is there any chance of you taking a "date" to the party? If you could ask your sister or cousin or even a coworker who is someone who your wife wouldn't see as a threat to your marriage, it might send a message to your her that you have seriously had it with going alone to these events. Instead of tip-toeing around her beliefs, maybe if you take a "date" and let her know that you are not going to hide the reasons why she is not with you anymore and why you brought someone else, she might see things differently.

You forgot low blood sugar, hypoglycemia and lupus. Many of these things can be treated by the herbs, vitamins and super blue algae someone is always selling as a sideline

Yes....this is so true. Deep down they know I think as a whole, this religion apeals to those who are so afraid of dying that they'll hang their hopes on just about anything that sounds halfway reasonable, so they can distract themselves from the reality that we all must face and everyone who has ever lived has faced. It is likely why there is such a great fear of anyone who questions them thereby threatening the fantasy. I was raised with the idea that I should want to live forever and I that shouldknow what the purpose of life is. I came to realize that even if God does want us to live forever, why is that any more purposeful? Isn't that just an extended version of what we have now.

Coming to grips with my own mortality, all within one year instead of little by little from childhood, like the rest of mankind does,was a very painful process. But now that I have done it, I have made peace with it. The horrible anxiety is gone because I no longer have to attend meetings where they continually try to convince you that any day now, if you've done all the right things, you can trick yourself into beleiving you can escape the inevitable.

Our attitude should differ from that of those who have "no hope," who think that this life is all there is and who will resort to any therapy in an attempt to cure their ailments

If growing old, sickness and dying are a punishment from God that he meant for us bear, by their own logic, wouldn't it be wrong for JW's take advantage of any of the cures or procedures that Satan's wicked system has devised to prolong our lives and make it possible to avoid the full brunt of the punishment we were meant to get ? Wouldn't this be like a rebellious kid who's parent sent to him to his room without supper to learn a lesson, only to have his friends sneak him a steak dinner through the window?

I'm very grateful to the ones they consider as "having no hope." ..the otherwise doomed..... who invented a way to eliminate dental pain, correct vision problems, remove tumors, set broken bones......and oh yeah. while were at it...invented the printing press.

It's just a way of being "alone" .... yet together, at a moment that is significant to eachother. For example when a husband and wife see their child do something noteworthy, especially if they are in a public place and can't really say outloud how they feel, they might take eachother's hand and silently acknowledge eachothers feelings about it.

People just do that....it's not something that is mentioned in the Bible to my knowledge.

This couldn't happen at a KH...little girls must not speak directly to the audience. Do you think the Bow in her hair was big enough to be considered a proper head covering?.....If not...God is probably really really mad about all this.

Aussie makes andexcellent point. I have seen some laughable stuff spouted by antijw sites. Mirror images in WTS illustrations are a good case in point.

Like anything else, you have to use your best judgement. I too have seen information that is easily refutable and some of the comments even had a tone of "sour grapes" or come across as being from someone with an "axe to grind". None of it however, has ever served to make the WT look anymore accurate or served to "undo" the harm the WT has done to my family and to the dozens of people I know who had their lives turned upside down when they could no longer in good conscience, go along with the program.

The difference to me is that unlike the WT, you are free to use your own best judgement and your own conscience, and you are not punished or ostracised for doing so. No one is telling you that God is going to kill you, or you can't have a relationship with him if you don't go along with their ideas, sell their literature, or acknowledge yourself as belonging to a man made orginization before you can get baptized. They are not trying to manage your relationship with God or intervene in your salvation.

I became aware of how crafty the false teachers were. Information taken out of context was their ‘strong evidence’ against us. Thus, I decided to start reading our publications again and to attend the meetings.

It's another case of the WT using anecdotal examples to fit their needs. When the alleged "Andre" was what they call "Apostate", they had an extremely dim view of his insights. Now that his insights fit their needs...they publish them in the Watchtower.

Black People Would Become White in the Paradise?

i have just been informed that the watchtower society lovingly stated that all black people would become, over time, white.

this would happen when the earth is to become a paradise.. please tell me that what i have heard are the mutterings of a fool and can't possibly be true!.

my wife is of mixed-race origin and i quite like her the way she is.

How many of the ideas the "chosen ones" are publishing today....will be laughable in 50 years ? What about the people from the past that didn't join them their r idicioulus teachings back then and were considered apostate or unsheeplike? Are they still forever doomed ?
