I get what the video is saying but I do wonder who will grow the food, collect the trash, make sure the sewer system is working if we're all doing what we'd do if money were no object. I'm kinda thankful that we are forced by life to do what we'd rather not do and to get unpleasant things done a lot of the time because we have to.

What If Money Were No Object?
by Crisis of Conscience ini haven't started a topic in quite a while.
but today, someone sent me the video linked below.. i really enjoyed it so i decided to share it.
and while it can be applied to many situations in life, i believe in particular it is of use to those still in the struggle.

They always used Luke 19 which is the parable of the slaves who were put in charge of the masters belongings while he was away. The slave that made good use of the belongings /increased them, was praised, the one who didn't use them well/hid them away, was evil and cast off.
The idea was that the WT is using the Masters belongings wisely and if you don't support them, you are an evil slave deserving of death.
This assumes that the master is happy with how they are doing things. Hopefully the Master won't be annoyed by the lack of growth due to the slow and ineffective means they use to spread the word and by the literature containing incorrect dates and teachings that were spread through out the world that mislead many and turned many away from God altogether.

She keeps mentioning a break, don't know if she wil go through with it.
You might remind her that according to JW belief, if she leaves you without scriptural grounds and you wind up in a "relaionship" with another woman, she is also guilty for having put you in that position by leaving her marriage mate. If you refrain from talking about"apostate" topics with her, she won't have any just reason to leave.

Talked to an elder today
by MrFreeze ini guess the stars aligned for this one.
this morning i dropped my car off to get it fixed and the shop i always go to is a lot closer to my mom's house than mine so i asked her if i could stay at her house while it got fixed.
she was out in service doing returns at the time and offered to ride me to her house.

Just remember, Jehovah is the living God and nothing can change that.
Such a cliche. I'd have asked him "What does that mean exactly....and what does it have to do with anything really? Did I say he wasn't living or indicate that he could die someday?"
Don't stick your head in the sand until it is too late."
I'd have said "Stop accusing me of burying my head in the sand, I spent X number of years with my head buried under stifling JW teachings and I'm now having a look around. You sound like you have condemned me already in your mind....let God handle the judging ."

HELP! I've stepped in it now... mast head change - JW response!
by NeverKnew inhe's asking if i've read the first page of the new watchtower.. says page 8 admits and exposes the society's mistaken expectations.. says that both mags have been adjusted to reflect the understanding of generation.
asking if it is my position that witnesses have made claims to be inspired prophets.... and saying if it is, maybe *we* can consider together some examples in the bible of others who have had wrong expectations and have gone ahead of god's timetable and see how god handled that..

What about those older ones who have no retirement account, put off having children, finishing high school, going to college, went preaching instead of taking a vacation, spent their childhood worrying about an unbelieving parent, grandparent or friend who was going to be destroyed any day all based on their incorrect understanding of the word generation ? What else are they misunderstanding ?
All they have to do is print a few lines in their magazine and we're all supposed to go on about our business as if it doesn't matter. Not even so much as a deep sorrowful apology...only a comparison to others from a few thousand years ago who looked ahead of Gods time table. They are the ones who gave us dates and refrences about our time, made us think the end was supposed to have happened any day in the last 30 years. We would never have been so presumptous as to have told people all over the world that we were living in the last days if they hadn't convinced us they are spirit directed and know what they were talking about.

20 Questions
by Terry inlet's say there is a new law.. once each year the leader(s) of any religious group have to answer 20 questions in public on tv posed by their critics.. twenty questions are allowed for a one hour presentation.. of course, we would expect softball answers.
except for one thing: the questioner can press a "bullshit" button!.
that would mean the question is repeated and another answer was called for.

"There are hundreds of thousands of bacteria living in my ass I can't explain either but it doesn't damage my faith in my religion"
Why would it damage his faith since his faith isn't built around specific and time sensitive information his religion claims to have regarding the bacteria in his ass. His faith is based on specific information regarding creation and where we are in the stream of time in terms of God's plans for mankind. His religion claims that we are in the last days and the only way to be saved is to follow their lead and trust their every word. The trouble is, science has proved their timeline to be inaccurate which therefore leads one to question whether this organization is guided by God at all and causes one to wonder what else they are wrong about.

Baptismal Questions CHANGE AGAIN!
by raymond frantz ini attended recently a circuit assembly and notice a change in the wording of the 2nd baptismal question .it used to be :.
"do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah's witnesses in association with god's spirit-directed organization?
now they changed it to :.

Does this change make the dedications/baptisims from the past, like mine, null and void ?
They probably weren't valid in the first place since Jesus (the Son of God) never made anyone answer manditory questions or read a bunch of his publications before he allowed them to dedicate their lives to his own Father.

Faith... and Trust: The Same Things?
by AGuest inin a discussion with some other dear ones, the question was asked as to what such ones put their faith in.
in response to one comment that"one can't function without faith," another disagreed, stating ones can, that "many do so every day... the ones who have trust" (in things like the sun rising in the east versus the west).
that trust extended to "faith" based "on nature and the natural order of things.

To me trust is earned and trust is based on past experience and current information.
Faith seems to be a "knowing" that transcends physical evidence. Unfortunately some people say they have faith when in reality its a way for them to feel smug about not wanting to bother to look any further into a matter.

I was in Bethel back in the late 70's and I still have these really really dreadful dreams that I've "signed on" for another stint there. The setting of the dream is that I did my time at Bethel then came home, got a good job, but then for some reason I find out I've mistakenly agreed to go back. In the dream I arrive back at Bethel and immediatey am filled with a sickening remorse about it. Aside from having no job to go to, I can't get out of this without absolutely shaming and embarrasing my family and wind up being on Jehovahs number one enemys list. Im obligated and trapped and there's no way around it. The odd thing is I didn't altogether hate my time at Bethel. Although I definetly wanted to do my year and leave, most of the time it was just fine. I'm puzzled as to why this dream keeps happening and why it is so disturbing to me. It's such a releif to wake up in the morning and realize that it's only a dream I'm free of all that heavy obligation and guilt. There is this other dream I have where I am in High School and I'm standing on a table in the cafeteria wearing a pair of Lederhosen and singing song number 48.....but that's another story altogether.
