  regarding worldly people, shows or toys?

  etc...what quotes annoyed you the most?.

  for me it was "well, you have to remember, they're worldly"... "don't trust anyone who isn't in the truth" "they may be nice but they are not friends of jehovah"... just a few to name.

  Mom: "What if you are in prison during the great tribulation and all you had to eat was cooked carrots, THEN what will you do?!" Me: "I'll eat them then." What strikes me NOW is how normal it was back then it was to talk to kids about going to prison and total destruction of 99.999% of the earth's inhabitants. We didn't even blink an eye back then.

  Yep...the sparkle of youth and childhood was greatly diminished by the constant threat of having to endure "concentration camp" like circumstances for Jehovah. Most adults try to shield children from these kind of horrors until they have the coping skills to deal with them. No such consideration for JW kids, we heard about the future horrors to come at almost every meeting just in case we might need more material for our nightmares or may have gotten over being frightened out of our wits since the last meeting.

  My Dad was very a very graceful man but was way too shy to ever dance with Mom in public. Poor Mom didn't have anyone to dance with so she taught me and my brother how to dance and assured us it would take us far when it came time for us to be interested in girls. I remember her showing us how to lead our dance partner to the dance floor and how to hold our partner firmly yet gently and how to glide rather than barge our way through a song. She was so right and we were always a hit with the girls at parties. the only problem was, she didn't mention how resentful it would make our guy friends.

  She taught us to plow ahead and make the seemingly impossible, happen despite all the odds against it happening. She taught us that you don't have to be wealthy to have style. She taught us how to really clean a house and how to always be clean and presentable in public. She taught us how to keep the child in us alive and see the magic in the world no matter how jaded others around may have become with time.

  I was standing on the beach the other day watching some surfers and was wishing I was out in the water myself. I turned to my wife and sarcastically quoted what was always said to me any time I expressed interest in participating in athletic activities.

  "Never mind Exwhyzee.....you'll have all the time in the world to do that in the New System."

  What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?

  i once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.

  due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.

  isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

  One of the last meetings I attended was in West Palm Beach Florida. It happened to be during the circuit overseers visit. He was a grossly overweight man,at least 300 lbs I'd guess and he seemed to like himself very much. During his announcements for the weeks activities he said, "There's one thing about Jehovah's Witnesses...we sure loooove to eat, don't we??? (Tee hee's could be heard from older sisters who think everything a C.O. says is marvelous) "Sister C.O. and I are looking forward to the many fine meals that will be provided for us and the many offers to share meals with all of you"

  Pretty harmless stuff but I couldn't help but think of all those scriptures that spoke about gluttony and overeating some of which gluttony was included with drunkards and idolaters. But today...you can only be repremanded for the latter, otherwise,in some cases, a good number of the congregation would be on private reproof. Seems like a guy with an obvious weight condition wouldn't bring up the issue of food,on the platform.

  And one might ask...Is Jehovah's holy spirit not powerful enough to prevent Satan from misguiding a JW who looks at outside sources while confirming the acuracy of the information presented to him by the Organization ?

  i am a born-in third generation ( or is it one overlapping generation..i get so confused) and i had no idea these court transcripts even existed until almost 2 years ago.

  my sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.

  i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land,with us, should she need it.

  even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer,elder,bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.

  My sister in law has been shunned by the family since she DA'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house. I always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land,with us, should she need it. Even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the Pioneer,Elder,Bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own. The sister is in her 40's now and we too are out of the Org and the family realizes we have been in contact with her all these years. They have softened a bit and are somewhat ashamed about having gone this far with all this nonsense. Her behavior in this matter has been exemplary over the years. For some time though,she had been visited by the residual left over mind trips that former witnesses go throgh.

  I'm in San Diego this week where she lives and told her about Beth Sarim, which for me was one of the straws that broke the camels back. She was very blown away by this bit of information...especially since she lives about 3miles from there. We hopped in my car and drove over there an I took a few photos of the place. I googled Beth Sarim on my ipad and we sat outside the mansion viewing old photos and deeds etc. We both agreed it was a strange thing to be sitting in front of a mansion that was once deeded to certain Bible characters and was once owned by the guy who led the religion that our parents centered their whole lives around without knowing any of this kind of history. She has her College degree and is quite successful in life in terms of being happy and well adjusted but I think she took a big step forward today in terms of her own personal growth.

  i had conversation with mt brother who quit going to meetings ar age of 11. father unbeliver.

  this 60 year old grandfather said his childhood brainwashing has effected his entire life.

  had his first birthday party this year, armegeddon nightmares, and he just realized how screwed up his life has been because with all his rebellion he is still finding his thoughts affected bt wt teaching.

  Slave, as in "the faithful and discreet slave." How did "slave" come to mean "master

  They will say they are the head slave appointed by the master to look after his belongings....which includes you! Even if the head slave screws up now and again...he's got the masters best interest at heart.
