Do you give to beggars?

i have seldom given money to beggars.

i have often thought that many are people who just do not want to work.

however, i am starting to wonder if i ought to: and how much to give?.

Oversees i have read of people being deliberatly maimed so as to be a beggar and turn of a lot of money over to the beggar 'pimp'.

I went to Portugal when I was 11 and the parents would make the kids beg. They would have ripped clothes on and no shoes... It was horrible. They would follow us crying and pleading. It was really hard for me to ignore them, but we were told they were being ''pimped'' out by their parents. I remember asking what happens if they go home with nothing. I was told that if they went home with nothing they were beaten, so would stay out until they had money to take home. We were warned if we gave those children anything we would be hounded and followed everywhere. It was horrible... These kids parents made a good living off their children. Shocking!

Shelby (peace to you) I love the ''bum run''... Sounds great!

I always give, I empty my purse. I don't want to know what they are going to spend the money on, nor do I care. You can usually tell those that are truly in need just by looking in their eyes. You see the pain, they look haunted. Even if I have been conned it still doesn't bother me cause karma has a way of biting ones ass!

Someone said to Carrot that you shouldn't give money to the homeless because they will spend it on booze. Carrot replied ''so, that's all I spend it on'' lol.

Babysprout has followed my example and I have been talking to her walking and I look round and she's standing by a homeless person emptying her purse... She always comes back with a big grin on her face and says how warm and fuzzy it makes her feel. She has reduced many a homeless person to tears.

That sounded frightening for your daughter! The rabbit sounds like a monster... Luckily Colin was only a small rabbit, plus he was too busy being obsessed with my cat. We nicknamed him ''pepe le pew''... Lol.

That's a tad disturbing that your rabbit went missing and that your old neighbours could have been responsible! Very scary indeed!

some people rave about certain celebs as being so great and in reality, what's so great about them?.

i think harrison ford is a good actor but not great.

same goes for tom cruise.. patty labelle, i've seen a few times live.

However the lead girl who's name is escaping me looks like a combination of Tiny Tim and Madonna.

She is peculiar looking... Carrot always says she looks like a witch.. Infact if you put a black pointy hat on her and she cackled.... Yep definately a WITCH!

That video cheered me up... So so cute!

Shel (peace to you) I used to have a male rabbit and we had his bits removed as we were told it makes them agressive... It didn't stop him falling in love with my cat who would hiss and claw him. It never stopped him... He would mount her side and her face lmao! It was a shame for the cat... We used to have to hide her... The rabbit hated me, whenever I went near him he bit me! Perhaps he hated me because I named him ''colin''....

i truly hope you don't get trite, cliche, anecdotal, or sarcastic, but share with us what you really believe/feel/think.

i will start: for me, i define "success" as peace of mind.

What gives/brings YOU peace of mind... and should that, whatever it is, be accepted/tolerated by all others (so long as it does not cause others harm, either directly or indirectly, of course)?

Hmmmm what gives me peace of mind?? Well I suppose it's knowing that I am not purposely hurting another human or animal... That I am doing all I can to make a difference, no matter how small... I also think that as long as it does NOT cause any harm to humans/animals then maybe it should be accepted. As long as your beliefs, no matter how wacky (believe me mine are wacky) are respected by others and that you do not force them on other people then everyone should try to ''tolerate'' that person.

I have had many a person force there ''meat eating'' upon me. *sigh* I don't care what people do as long as it's not forced upon me. Sorry off tangent there lol

Plus for me (Peace to you shel!) success is about loving and appreciated who ''you'' are... It has nothing to do with careers, money, possesions or family... People can have all those things and still feel unfulfilled and empty... Thats because we need to ''nourish'' ourselves... Sucess is about getting to know, love and accept who that person is on the inside... Once we learn to love and accept ourselves then everything else falls into place.

And then and only then do we find true Success.
