I have a close relative serving in a fairly "prestigious" role at Bethel. Incredibly gifted academically, graduated from uni with honors after winning an incredibly competitive full scholarship in a technically difficult major.

After graduating, regular pioneered for several years while actually being able to support themselves before entering Bethel. After around 15 years at Bethel, now feels "ashamed" of going to uni, as they are horrified when they are held out as an example to others of being able to successfully obtain a university degree while staying faithful and then entering full-time service at Bethel.

Knowing that more than 50% of baptisms are born-ins, one can safely double (at least) the hour estimate needed to covert one person.

If you double the actual number (7k - 8k hours per baptism) to account for born-ins to 16,000 hours, it would take the average 10 hr / month publisher 133 YEARS to convert ONE person. (That number seems implausibly high, but I’m drinking a strong beer right now, so feel free to challenge my maths)

Super effective. “Stones crying out” would definitely be more effective .

a few years back i was in a meeting between fades and it was the co visit.

he said something i thought was crazy and a lot of jws buy into this mentality.

i don't remember the talk but he asked this question.. what if this isn't the truth?

How would the Borg view IVF?

specifically if an unwed woman decided she wanted a kid without the hassle of dating/relationship /trying to get pregnant etc and just got a sperm doner with ivf?

surely it's not fornication?

the whole process is far removed from sex.

I find it comical that surrogacy and sperm donors are forbidden by the WT.

Why?

I dunno...maybe you should ask Joseph and Mary about that one. Big J seemed to be okay with Mary carrying and giving birth to a baby when Joseph wasn’t the biological father.

Lots of JW couples have used IVF. It’s no issue if you use your own sperm and eggs.

The WT has an issue if you use donor eggs or sperm, then they make a logic jump to “fornication”. Now of course if a married JW couple used either a donor egg or sperm and kept quiet about it, hard to prove, and they’d probably never be challenged on it.

In your scenario, a single JW sister would certainly have action taken. Either disfellowshipping, or maybe some public reproof and a marking talk if she claims ignorance or something.

hi folks, i’m attending the london protest at the excel convention in august and am making some banners.

i’m aiming for short but memorable sentences that will stick in jws minds and also make them laugh a little at their own organisation.. my best so far is ‘this is not a protest, it’s an overlapping protest’.

has anyone got any ideas for more?.

Actually, scratch my suggestion above.

All you need on your signs are these:

Cheese danish or Apple? (If you picked cheese, you’re an apostate but just don’t know it yet)

...or this one...

If you like semi-frozen orange juice you’re an apostate (you just don’t know it yet)

Btw, I’m actually serious about these signs. Why not hook them with an inside joke? Just put “jwfacts.com” or “jehovahs-witness.com” at the bottom.

Female JW parking "attendants"

i was shocked recently to see on social media a couple pictures of jw sisters at a convention working as parking "attendants".

i put that title in quotation marks because they still don't get the official attendant badge like the male parking attendants do, only the reflective vest.

has anybody else heard of this .

Interesting. I was recently chatting with a brother who's the head of the Attendant Dept for his RC this year and he's only been about to recruit about 30% of the brothers needed; apparently many were telling him they were either unavailable or had already committed to working in Parking. So he called the Parking Dept Overseer and it turns out HE is way understaffed, with many telling him they'd already committed to working as Attendants!

At this point the Attendants Overseer is very discouraged and doesn't understand why the younger brothers (18 - 45) just refuse to step up and help. He and the Parking Overseer even escalated to the Convention Overseer and were told that the other conventions being held at the same venue on other weekends are facing the same issue.

All of this is rather amusing to me, as I know for a fact that in certain countries sisters are used as Attendants (yes, with badges), however it's just not allowed here (...yet...until NooLite of course).
