Posted this on another thread, but since there are so many "Tight Pants" threads today, thought I'd make sure everyone got the benefit of a meme that's making its rounds on JW social media this a.m.

Over 1,000,000 in attendance and you are worried about tight pants?
by Separation of Powers inyou know, rarely in the history of the org has a group this large congregated to hear from "mother.
" they incessantly speak of the huge group that met at yankee stadium in 1958...the over 250,000 that congregated to be instructed by jehovah.
but over the weekend, there were over 1,000,000 people excited to hear some type of direction, some type of encouragement, something to help them hang on "just a little longer.".

It is official they're selling off Kingdom Halls in Britain
by raymond frantz ini posted here a week ago some disturbing news for congregations being consolidated in britain.
my goodness that was nothing !
a letter was read today from bethel addressed to all congregations in britain that can only be described as the biggest news for years.the main points:.

Maybe they wouldn't need to replace or renovate so many Kingdom Halls if they actually built them to last and stopped decorating them in styles that quickly go out of favor. How often have you walked by or into and old church and thought "Ewww...this is so dated." Yet that has gone through my mind everytime I've stepped into any KH more than 5 years old.
In my area there is a congregation that recently sent in almost $2 million dollars to the WTS it had saved toward a badly needed renovation. (It's an old hall in a very wealthy area.) Now those local friends are getting very nervous that instead of renovating this historic (and very valuable) property, the WTS will force them to sell it for millions, see all that cash flow to NY, and force the friends to build a hall the next town over for $500,000. In the end, the WTS would probably net $3-4 million from that one congregation.

Or the Zone Visit may be simply be so dull, it will test people's faith to just sit through it.
Baahaha! This post just made my day (and will help me get through the Zone Visit with a smile on my face...just not for the reason most people will realize).

I was looking at the comparison pictures. What really struck me was the top picture was what normal people do. They are demonizing normal , activities. Where was the sin?
99.9% of the world's population do what comes naturally to human beings (top row of illustrations). 0.10% of the world's population forces themselves to reject natural human behaviour (bottom row of illustrations). These latter ones are the ones that experience "true happiness" and "the real life".

The Natick, MA congregation was dissolved a few months ago, which is interesting since its Kingdom Hall is actually attached to the Natick Assembly Hall. Now the old Kingdom Hall just sits empty, aside from being used for the lunchtime Elders' Meeting during the Circuit Assemblies.

Oh, and one other experience.
I went to a large memorial service for a young brother who'd died after a short illness. It was attended by hundreds of people, many of which were his co-workers. When it ended, a J-dub sitting in front of me turned to one of the "worldly" co-workers and said "Wasn't that a wonderful service?" The man replied: "Actually this was the worst one I've ever heard. They barely said a word about him. All they did was try to sell his religion! I worked with him for almost 10 years, and he never tried to push his religion on anyone this much. I actually hope he is 'asleep' or whatever. Because if he had to watch this from heaven, he'd be embarrassed!"
The J-dub was left speechless. I asked him afterward what he thought of the response. He replied, "Oh, I didn't really listen. He obviously just doesn't like Witnesses."

I had an uber dub pioneer aunt comment to me about a wordly funeral she attended of a bible student. "you know (with a look of disgust on her face) they must of only spent 5 or 10 minutes talking about the person and the rest of the time was taken up with the church". Just hit me like a bus that comment. WOMEN OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!!! Of course I never said anything.
Ha! I had the same experience. We all went to a the funeral of a non-JW relative. When we got back in the car, the first thing uttered by my father was:
"That was disgusting. The priest only spoke about him for 10 minutes. Obviously he didn't know him that well, otherwise he would have said more about him. The rest of it was just like another Mass."
"Dad, I was thinking the exact opposite. He spoke about him for much longer than the JW memorial talk outline allows for. You get, what, maybe 5 minutes about the person? The rest is just the standard outline about the Ransom and resurrection."
"Well that's different. There's a reason we do it that way. This priest had no excuse."

Anyone from Boston know any of these guys on this guy's JC?
Les Fashank, Anthony Aguirre, Peter Husbands and Lance McBrayer
Are they as arrogant as this guy makes them sound? Although Aguirre came across as the most reasonable (or inexperienced).
