How did you personally endure the torture during the DC?
by whatistruth inmy assembly was a couple of weeks ago and lets just say the only way i could possibly get through that b.s was by having some "funny stuff" before the sessions, then to my car at lunch.
pretty much slept the days away.
my wife would constintaly ask me what was wrong with me, i said i was feeling really sick.

Sorry to have heard about that also brizzy. You would never have been treated that way in our family. It is better to be more understanding and loving.

Field service reporting
by gutted inso one of the elders called asking for my time.
i lied, somewhat.
yes i did talk to people about the "truth" but not in favourable terms.. has anyone simply stated, "i have not been in service this month"?

I noticed in our congregation the Elders were walking around trying to gather-up service reports for the month of June from their group members. The Elders don't use the FS report boxes any more. Its all about the numbers.

attendance/baptisms ratio
by Dold Agenda inin sweden we are now checking the attendance/baptisms ratio at some conventions by simply divide the number of baptisms to the attendance number.. far ago in the 70-ies it was like 5% before 1975. last year we was around 0,55%.
(quite like the italy in fact ).
this year we have counted only 2 conventions this far.

I n Calgary, Alberta, Canada I thionk about 63 people were babtized and three of them were adult non-JW backgrounds and the rest were sons and daughters of rank & file members. the attendance was about 8,500. What ratio would that be?

Discussion on the way out of convention
by Mickey mouse insunday evening there were a group of sisters talking on their walk back to the carpark.
"so if the generation just means that your life overlapped with people who were around in 1914, couldn't that just go on forever?".
""i guess...." (looked at each other confused, then at me as i walked past).. to which i said: "oh yes, remember the days when the generation was a simple 70 years from 1914?".

It seems like another delay tactic.

Did you really pay attention at conventions or assemblies?
by donny ina co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.
his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.
at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

The old big orange "Paradise" book
by aquagirl inanyone remember that?
i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images, like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway, that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful, bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple, made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.

I have that book in new condition and I remember now that is where I got the fear and interest in the Truth but only studied the blue Truth Book in 1968. I got supicious of the Borg after the 1975 prediction failed.

I to would like to stop putting in time for field service. What should I expect to say to my group overseer on August 1, 2010 whe he pays me a phone call for time? Maybe zero hours?
