Nope Alice. Science will not create a perfect society, but it'll come far closer than the WT ever well.

My Standing "Bet" With JW Family
by TD inonce a year, i attend the sunday afternoon session of the district convention with my wife.
my wife and her family would like me to attend more jw functions, but besides not being terribly religious at all, i am put off by the open dishonesty of the jw parent organization.. this has led to a "bet" of sorts.
if i can make it through the sunday session without hearing a single demonstrably false statement made from the stage, i will attend more functions at the local level.. things are usually just fine until the bethel speaker takes the stage.

Feeling really sad
by NiceDream inmy husband and i have been married for almost 10 years.
we were married really young, and tried to make the best of it.
recently, i began listening to my lingering doubts and realized i've been so unhappy because i was living a lie.

I definitely feel bad for ya NiceDream. It certainly is awful to see a marriage fall on hard times like that. I think it would definitely be best if could both get out of the JW's. It only seems to be making things worse. It seems like you really love your husband. I really do think that communication is the key here. How can you fix things if he's not willing to open up? You seem like the kind of person who is willing to make adjustments. I'm not so sure about him though. I deeply hope it works out in the end.

Why are anniversaries okay?
by MrFreeze ini'm sure this topic has been brought up before.
i was at a jw graduation party yesterday and realized "if birthday parties are not okay because they supposedly bring undue attention to an individual, why are graduation parties and wedding anniversaries okay?
" they both glorify individuals and put them on a pedestal.

I just don't see how they justify it. Maybe Alice can let us now why it's okay.

"Life" Brochures: 3 Easy Disproofs
by metatron init may be time consuming and exhausting to correct all of the deceptions, half-truths and out of context quotes contained in the watchtower's new brochures, so i'll make it simple.
here's 3 easy points that disprove all of their nonsense.. 1) australia proves evolution happened - what's the one country in the world with the weirdest animals on earth?
australia!

I do remember that WT article endofmysteries. I believe it was a question from readers. It's got pagan origins but of course the WT says "it's a personal choice". Yeah... uhhh.... okay. Whatever you say. Think about all the b-day parties I missed out on?
At work a few weeks ago, it was the first time I ever joined in the happy birthday song.

Also at this JW graduation, it was a surprise party and they lied to the JW about the purpose of the party. What happened to the whole "white lies are still lies" thing?

How did you personally endure the torture during the DC?
by whatistruth inmy assembly was a couple of weeks ago and lets just say the only way i could possibly get through that b.s was by having some "funny stuff" before the sessions, then to my car at lunch.
pretty much slept the days away.
my wife would constintaly ask me what was wrong with me, i said i was feeling really sick.

I'm sorry to hear about that brizzzy. Sounds like awful circumstances. I don't think I know any parents who would openly slap their teenage daughter in public for doing something like that. Maybe in private.
Seriously though, that's a terrible thing that happened to you. So much for it being YOUR choice.

I think I'll use my mp3 player and pretend I'm recording. That might work out pretty well.

Loving your beutiful children
by jambon1 ini had little or no problems with my beliefs as an 18 year old convert to the jehovah's witness religion.
fair enough, there were a few things that i found a bit wacky & odd, but i was on the road to life.
i couldn't give a rats arse about many things.

I don't have kids but I hope to someday. I know I would feel exactly as you do jambon. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Was God over reacting destroying the whole planet in Noah's flood to kill afew evil people...too bad Noah forgot the Unicorns and Dinosaurs according to the Watchtower!
by Witness 007 inyes instead of striking them dead he decided to flood the entire planet killing every living plant and animal {sorry peta members} which only afew years before he created declaring it "good.
" then he made a "rainbow" as a sign that never again will he destroy every living thing.. wasn't this over the top?.
too bad they forgot the poor unicorns and dinosuars though!.

Why would a reasonable God ask us to believe in something unreasonable? The flood is unreasonable to believe in.
