Thinking about the movie Signs. The implication in that movie seems to be everything happens for a reason, because God made it so. So God gave his son asthma, killed his wife, made his daughter severely OCD so that they could defeat a single alien years later to help him restore his faith. Boy, you'd think a god who had all that planned out could have made aliens not come to earth and not have his wife die and him lose his faith in the first place. The implication in the movie, is the same that goes through the mind of many religious people today. God is helping them when things go their way... but that same god can't do something in a simple way to fix the problems of someone who really needs help.

the bizarre things religious people say and believe
by Hortensia ini sat in the community garden tonight and talked with one of my neighbors, an old lady in an electric wheelchair.
she was telling me she won't be able to garden next year, it's getting to hard for her since her stroke.
so we talked about her stroke.

Jehovah™ is the greater child murderer
by punkofnice injehovahtm is so benevolent and wonderfully merciful.
so much so he kills children without so much as a by your leave.. .
jehovahtm is surely the greater child abuser.

Amazingly thickheaded for people to 100% believe in certain parts of the bible as absolute truth without any sort of doubt or questioning, while at the same time saying parts of the bible they don't like aren't truthful.

2 she-bears kill 42 children
by confusedandalone inwe all remember this passage vividly: from there elisha went up to bethel.
while he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him.
"go up baldhead," they shouted, "go up baldhead!

They included a mention of that story in one of the dramas several years back. Really a horrifying account.

GB's gotta keep the cash rolling in so they can go on their lavish vacations and be taken care of for the rest of their lives. If the WT goes under, so do they.

Blue Jeans BANNED by Jehovahs Witnesses Governing body
by Watchtower-Free infor anybody attending a international convention .. 5 body of elders letters just leaked .
"applicant instructions".. ********************.

Here's a thing I don't get about this most of all. People will come to international conventions in all sorts of outfits from their native land. Why is wearing blue jeans when out after the convention such a big deal?

Board of bitterness
by 1009 ini always was a critical jw, now df and agnost.
but still this religion fascinates me.
in my eyes most jw are very sincere, but dumb sheep.. this board is filled with ex-jw.
-
MrFreeze
Why shouldn't we have bitter feelings towards this cult that took so much from us? Our "bitterness" on these boards have helped many doubting JW's to walk away from the religion.

Its just another way for the people who do a lot for the WT to brag and another way for those who do less to feel inadequate.

There are more Jehovah's Witnesses in Portugal than there are Scientologists in the whole world
by cedars init would be nice if this little nougat of information could be more widely known - especially by journalists.. the quoted figures for scientology are taken from tony ortega's 2011 article in the village voice, which quotes former scientology pr executive jeff hawkins as saying.... "i know that event attendance internationally was somewhere in the region of 25,000 to 35,000. the international 'bodies in the shop' (people actually in the orgs that week for service) was 16,000 to 18,000. ias was struggling to get 40,000 members.
based on this and a lot of other information i was privy to, i estimate the actual number of scientologists at a maximum of 40,000. that's on the high side.".
portugal is one of 33 countries with more than 40,000 active jehovah's witnesses - demonstrating the gulf in size between the two faiths.. the following list shows all countries with more than 40,000 jws according to their reported peak publishers for 2013.. .

The only reason scientology gets any press is because of who the members are.
