Somebody that many years along, who has devoted his whole life to it. It is probably all he has. It's his social circle. It's his way of staying relevant in some way.

Encounter at McDonalds
by jws inso i was helping some friends move and it came time for a break, i took my kids to mcdonalds.
we're sitting there and there's a family across from us, man, wife, 2 kids under 4. in the next booth is this older guy, maybe late 60's.. i'm not really paying attention, but then this older guy says something to the family about everybody being "me-first" these days.
so that caught my ear.

This has nothing to do with how many are placed. It has to do with circulation. Of course they are going to be in the top 10 if every JW gets 5-10 of each. The real question is how many people actually read them.

One of the most crippling feelings in the world to feel is guilt.
One of the first things the JW religion teaches is to instill lots of guilt. This is something that haunts me. Constantly. I'll be sitting in my cubicle at work, doing something mind numbing and all the sudden it hits. A wave of guilt. I don't even know what I'm feeling guilty about. But that feeling looms. I must be doing something wrong.

I always had little doubts in my mind about certain things. One of the things that really opened my eyes was the scripture where it usess the pluralized "nails" to indicate Jesus had more than one nail in his hands. I asked a "knowledgable" sister about it and she had no clue. just said to look at the WT Library and see what it says. The WT pretty much says "It doesn't matter what Jesus was killed on, just that he died." Okay, so why do they make a big deal about the cross then? Then I started digging further and further into doubts I had and welp... here I am... an evil apostate atheist.

After 2000 years since JC was executed ,why have we heard not a whisper from GOD ALMIGHTY ?
by smiddy inhe/she had no problem talking to adam and eve ,though they were sinners in his/her sight .throughout the hebrew sriptures, ot, he /she had no problem communicating with fallen man ,imperfect humans , to dictate his will to his subjects by means of prophets , male and female ,according to the bible , the old testament ,the hebrew scriptures , god communicated not once ,not twice ,not even thrice ,but dozens of times during the first 4000 years of human history according to the bible.. why has this god been so silent these past 2000 years ,when their have been atrocities above the scale of anything that has ever been seen these past 6000 years of human existence .. oh you may say that the atrocities were not committed by god they were committed by man.
fair enough .but god intervened in human affairs in such smaller infringements.
with prophets or so the bible says.. the so called apostacy after the last of the apostles , the influence of satan in the world ,( or was that after 1914 ,) and the 2000 year gap when christ was supposed to return ,never mind about all the crap that went before it .. the fact remains we have never heard from god ,any god, or even" a " god, with either his/her approval or disapproval of events good or bad these past 2000 years... smiddy.

Give me a break Cold Steel. Imagine if you were suffering from some horrible disease and a doctor who could help cure you refused saying "Don't worry about it. You'll be cured when you are dead." I'd say that is a pretty cruel thing.
Is this what we are supposed to have faith in?
I guess all those people who have never heard of Jesus through no fault of their own are just supposed to magically believe in him and have faith in him.
Supposedly, Jesus showed miraculous signs. God performed miraculous signs back in Bible times. Can you explain to me why we no longer see such miraculous signs? Sorry, but "The world is so beautiful and wonderfully created" and "Jesus will speak to you if you have faith and are willing to see" are NOT miraculous signs. Imagine the good that might be able to come out of the whole world if he just revealed himself in an OBVIOUS way. Not in a "Oh, you have to read the Bible with an open heart" way.

Maybe people lack faith in god because they have never heard him. If he really wanted people to worship him, he should make himself evident. Why wouldn't he? I mean when it is something that is as important as your everlasting wellbeing that is being decided by your belief in god, I think he's kind of a dick for hiding.
It would be so simple for himself to reveal himself to the whole world.
Cold Steel, those "prophets" vary so greatly in their teachings how could you say their revelations are coming from one source? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe god should speak up so everyone is on the same page.
