It's amazing how much my opinion has changed on religion in just the last few months. Even when I wasn't really doing what I was "supposed" to do as a JW, I still felt the need to defend them and religion in general because I still felt that they had the Truth but I could never live up to the standards so why bother trying? Now, thanks to the help of this website, some issues I have always had with the JW organization and religion in general have finally shown that I was right in doubting what was taught all along.
It reminds me of movies I'd watch as a kid. I would see goofs and inconsistincies in the movie but would just pin the inconstincies on me missing something and that I was wrong the whole time. Now I have IMDB.com and I can see that errors I caught in the movies were in fact errors!

List of false prophecies
Jehovah's name added to New Testament
Conflict of God's love and his justice (As in since there are 1 Witness to every 1,000 people in the world, for every 1 Witness saved 1,000 would die at Armageddon)

there are so many here with circumstances that will not allow them to leave the borg, and who week after week have to put on a show, and go to the meetings and service, that i just wanted to send you a big (((hug)) for hangng in there.. though each situation is no doubt different, one thing most likely the same..you would leave if you could,, and you have to endure all the things being taught each week, that you have come to learn are lies!

I love my family who is in it too much to just desert them. Knowing that I couldn't talk to them whenever I wanted would be very terrible. It might be a more taxing situation than actually staying in.
i don't want to high jack african gb's thread but something got me thinking.... moses, abraham were inbred and hearing god's voice... paul never met jesus yet he is the only apostle coming down like a hammer of gays and has this "close bond" with timothy.
then there is the issue of "horus" the egyptian god and is this where the story of jesus comes from.
i have searched the internet for information on horus and have not had much luck finding anything authorative either way.. my question is do you or don't you believe in the bible and why or why not?
I believe some things in the Bible are true. However, the part that always gets me is the Flood. When you actually sit back and think about it, it's the most idiotic part of the Bible.

The Bible says God's creation is perfect. Perfection = Without flaws. Humans are naturely flawed (Just look at God's first people created Adam and Eve). Not to mention his heavenly creations (Satan for instance). So is his creation flawed or isn't it? That means that Hebrews is wrong. Therefore the Bible is rendered false.

It sounds like something that could be true but verificiation would be nice. I'm sure somebody on this board knows. A brother in my hall gave a public talk about it today, complete with visual diagrams and a laser pointer!
