I would say I've become bitter. I'm bitter over all the years wasted. I think of all I've given up over something so worthless, yeah I'm going to be bitter. I'll probably continue to be bitter for a while, anyway. I am certain eventually it will pass though.

The struggle to avoid being bitter
by crazycate ini dont want to be bitter.
but i now understand why some or many ex-jws are bitter.
i remember when i was an active zealous jw thinking, if someone wants to leave, go ahead and leave.

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

Looks like they were just sitting around waiting to find some reason to DF you. What a miserable religion.

What I think the next move is...
by TheJigsUp ini'll keep it short.. you're no doubt aware of the 'if the gb say something that seems odd, just go along with it' thing.
and the 'do as the gb tell you!
dont doubt the gb!

I don't get what you are saying. Isn't that already what the GB is telling the JW's to preach?

As an Ex-JW (or whatever you are) Tell Us Your Core Hope / Dream / Wish
by OnTheWayOut inwhat i ask is for some specifics.
it helps to say it, type it, get it off your chest.
read mine and maybe you will have a good idea what i mean.. i hope that i get my wife out of the jw's by all of the positive reinforcement i have given her to be an independent thinker.

In the end, I'd want a family with kids who I can allow to enjoy their childhood, as kids should, unlike being trapped in an organization that doesn't value its children. I don't know, maybe I feel like I can make amends for the failure of a JW parent.

Ever feel like Woody when talking to a Witness?

No because eventually it sinks in for Buzz. For many JW's, it will never sink in.

Can j.w.'s go to Christian funerals?
by hubert ini went to a catholic funeral yesterday.
there was no wake, only a mass and the burial and military honors at the cemetery.
although it was not a relative, my j.w.

MrFreeze
It's a conscience matter. I went into a church for my grandmothers funeral and received no counseling about it.

I'm thinking the old guy on the right crapped himself. It's the only explanation for the guy sitting next to him. The girl on the top right is clearly running from a rapist after leaving school or something. The guy on the top left looks like he's waiting in line to get into some club, possibly a high-class strip club. Guy next to him is talking to Dell tech support. Then the woman with the kids is home alone watching kids because her husband is "working late" with his secretary. I think there's a supernova occuring or something in front of the woman in the middle. Only explanation for that light shining on her.
I don't know what any of that has to do with contentment.

Does anyone know what happens to full-time JW's(DO's, CO's, Missionaries, Special pioneers, etc) when they reach old age?
by african GB Member ini am just wondering since these people never work a secular job.
is there some sort of an arrangement from the society to care for them?
presuming they don't even have children of their own to look after them when they are old..
-
MrFreeze
Nope, they don't have anything set to help them. They are expected to work until death.

questions you could never get answers to
by deservingone26 ini remember when i was going to the meetings there were questions that i had which i could never get good answers too.
just one of them i had was how to explain how you knew if you were one of the one hundred and forty four thousand.
i remember trying to explain this to one of my work friends and the reasoning of you just know, like you know if u are a boy or girl sounded stupid to him.

I once asked a few people why the one scripture talked about "nails" in Jesus' hands and not "nail". I was sincere in this question. I wanted to know how I could defend against this assault on the torture stake over the cross. I never got an answer from ANYBODY!
