Session 9 and Jacob's Ladder had some creepy moments. I hate scary movies that rely on shock horror instead of psychological horror. When a scary movie can combine both, its a great movie. For instance, take the Jason movies. Nothing scary about those to me. So you jumped out from behind the curtains, that doesn't induce terror. Compare that with The Descent. Yes, it had its share of shock terror but it also created a nice psychological meld to it as well. The low lighting, the claustrophobia. It can play with your head. Thats why movies like The Shining are so great. They induce more fear than any crappy slasher flick ever will.

Scariest Movie you have ever seen?
by Layla33 ini know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.
like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.
anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

Ready or not, Judgement Day is in two weeks--
by moshe in- and believe it or not, some say the rapture is coming your way on may 21st.
harold camping is still standing pat on this date for the rapture- then on may 22nd, millions of people left behind on earth, who are weeping and wailing, will begin to be killed by god.
however, he is not giving any refunds on may 22nd, if his predictions fail to come true, to contributors who took out their life savings and sent it to his ministry.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9acwnhkvoo.

I would ask Harold Camping if he can sign a document that says I can have all his money, car, house on May 22nd. If he doesn't agree to sign then it means he is lacking faith and will not survive judgment day.

Maze, I don't need the Bible to tell me to be a good person. I've got plenty of common sense on my two shoulders to know to avoid falling into stupid behavior. I certainly don't need the WT. The WT does more to set people up for failure because it doesn't train them on how to live in the REAL world. The WT tells you "rely on Jehovah and the WT and everything will be all right." That's a load of crap. The JW's don't get trained in college. They don't get trained on how to interact with people. They don't get trained to view normal people as decent human beings. The WT is full of fail and frankly, their "map of landmines" is a pretty shoddy one at best.

I never went out in service on holidays. I figured it would do more harm than good to bother people on their day.

In whatever way it is that they helped you, try to replicate that without involving this religion.

Happiness after almost a year!
by fade_away inthat book: "the secret of family happiness" is missing the part that teaches you to live happy with your family.
"but if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned.
but those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and i want to spare you this.".

I can't give you the secret to happiness but I can say for sure it doesn't involve stepping foot inside of a Kingdom Hall.

All knowledge would be taken...?
by satinka indo you recall hearing this teaching...?.
i recall as a jw i was taught that if anyone dared to leave the organization, all knowledge would be taken from us.
turns out it was yet another jw lie.. now, eleven years after leaving, i still remember the scriptures word for word and by using the concordance i find my way back to the scripture in question.

What did they mean by all knowledge being taken? Were they saying we'd become like neanderthals or something?
