  i am one of the few people on earth who never had a jehovah's witness knock on my door.

  my wife was the first witness i ever met.

  i did notice certain personality traits after being around some of the people who left the religion.

  yugoslavia is my country and always will be.

  it was my motherland it represented peace, and a good future, family, joy.

  when it fell apart so did the start of falling apart of my life.

  There's nothing like home and family. Sadly, as in your case, many in the JW faith end up losing both for really stupid reasons. I feel for ya man.

  this is a little disappointing because i was looking forward to a discussion about homosexuality and the bible that people could really sink their teeth into.. .

  jw's have the tendency to come up with the worst illustrations.

  it boggles my mind sometimes.

  here's one someone gave me about new light.. when confronted with the fact that since certain teachings change, the jw's never had the truth.

  When confronted with the fact that since certain teachings change, the JW's never had the truth. Truth is unchanging. Here's what was the reply:

  "When it comes to new light, truth is like a coat of paint. Sure, maybe your house was painted red. Eventually the house is going to be repainted. If you changed the paint color of the house to blue, it wouldn't be untrue saying that the house was red. Just because the paint changed, doesn't mean the house was never red."

  Durrrrr.... My head exploded at this one. Possibly the most convoluted, awful illustration I have EVER heard.

  Anybody else got any dumb JW illustrations?

  Biking where I live isn't very wise. If you are familiar with Pittsburgh it is nothing but hills, many of them very steep. Good luck biking up them! Also, winter and ice hit hard here. It's just not practical. Not to mention nothing is a straight shot here. The just roads wherever they could place them so its a big to-do to get anywhere.

  at a recent assembly, there was a talk highlighting the dangers of higher education.

  the brother used an example of a young girl who went to university, began going to bars, and ended up getting drugged and gang raped - as if this happens to every young jw who chooses to get higher education.. .

  I always hated those soliloquys about the people who were almost "tricked" into doing the actual smart thing but thought better of it. Funny thing is, most of the people who performed them participated in activites and such that they were downplaying as wicked doings of worldly people.
