Wow, that sucks. Sucks, is I got for ya. I guess now would be a great time to learn from this and discover what kind of advice you could give to another parent BEFORE this happens. I have a 2 year old daughter and I have promised myself not to be as ignorant as my parents or the parents of my mother were who never knew what the hell was going on in our lives, never gave us sex advice or anything. Never had that birds and bees talk so to speak. So, while this is now in the past, I guess just try to help others thwart this behaviour before it happens. I'm not really a religious guy anymore, but I do believe in one thing strongly. The advancement of the human civilization. And I know that teenagers having sex is more like primal, tribal, animalistic behaviour than that of a highly evolved species. Then again, if we're not as highly evolved as I hope we are, it doesn't matter.

Sex at 14?
by headisspinning inhello all.... some of you have been following our story from the beginning - and even those of you who haven't should be able to relate to my quandary.... last week my 14 year old son told me he no longer wants to be a jw.
we laboured over telling his jw dad all week.
well, on friday night he finally came clean.. but in a bizarre and unexpected twist, after having sex with his girlfriend for the very first time - in his father's home that very afternoon.

Yeah, some of these posts like Sizemik and Satanus make good points (if I missed anyone else, sorry, I stopped reading <- in fact, my bad if I repeat a point). If you want to believe that God has somehow shaped your life, then it might be helpful to believe that God, the Universe, whatever, led you to the JWs so that you could make a speedy recovery. But perhaps not for you to STAY with the JWs. It's like some friends in your life: some are there to help you on your path, but that's it. Once their purpose has been fulfilled, it may not be beneficial to remain allied, especially if your goals might somehow be diametrically opposed. Case in point: you and the WT.
However, if you leave the JWs and find yourself crawling back into the mud, well, then, you must realize you aren't strong enough to NOT be an individual, but may need some sort of controlling group, which is probably how you got into the troubles in the first place.
Ponder over that, and good luck, Stranger.

there are 2 classes of ex Jehovahs witnesses
by the max inhi im part of a group of ex jh,s, we meet for drinks and dinner, go to football games.many of the guys do drugs,(i dont, i like sport) , most live very hedonistic lifestyles, lets leave it at that,(im happily married).
my point is, when i left, i was honest, and got df,d.
now im experiencing the same kind of shit that i experieced in the hall, the ex jw,s are just as judgemental, and stupid as when they were at the kingdom hall, for eg you were df,d we were not,it doesnt matter to them, that their doing coke and getting into group sex.

wontleave and cantleave I think are actually both right, though wontleave's comment might be a little harsh, I tend to have to agree with him. i'm not gonna say "trash" but definitely i can see what he's talking about. if it isn't the typical "trash" it's the intellectual trash that allows themselves to be thought FOR. any religion, group, cult, whatever has them. you know the people: they weren't trailer trash but they heard someone say dinosaurs didn't exist, so they believe it and spread it around. same kind of people who spread unverified chain emails. Yeah, I'm homsechooling my kid, but I dare say she is already more intelligent and talented than at least 85% of the human population. she presents the next level in psycho, socio, and physical evolution. but hey, she's my kid, right? Just kidding, guys, relax.
Anyway, both sides present some very interesting things for me to ponder over for a while. shame though. I was once just as susceptible as the rest of the trash. and wontleave, what a way you have with words... i like it.

I would describe the Watchtower's Disfellowshipping as truly merciless
by sabastious inthoughout my life i have seen many take the walk of shame that is disfellowshipping.
i have never been df'ed, but i have had many experiences reading the faces of newly df'ed ones.. their faces are always the same.
defeated by a foe that they never had a chance with in the beggining; a raping so-to-speak.

I think the disfellowshipping policy, WHENEVER it took place in the history of time, is effed up and stupid. Especially to have 3 dudes who most likely have NO idea what it's like to be you "examine the facts". They aren't open minded (being do deeply involved to be elders in such a religion that doesn't allow open forum discussion is obvious proof of that) enough to even remotely be adequately qualified. Parents and friends should be involved in the JC, as well as... wait... no... there shouldn't be a judicial committee. You know, in the Israelite times, they would basically throw some dice on the table or consult a magic 8 ball to determine the fate of wrong doers. Maybe we should go back to that. ( 1 Samuel 14:41 ), eh?
Like my name implies, though, (just a friendly reminder) if anyone is interested in just taking down the WT (hijacking it and taking it over) let's talk. A well placed camera, mic bug, and some patience should clear up the question among everybody's minds: How the hell does the GB get their "new light?" Hearing and watching them have their conclave meetings might free a few minds, and explode some others.
All this venting is good and possibly healthy, but I'm ready to take drastic action.
I digress: disfellowshipping makes sense if it's someone who's promoting wrong doing or who wants to take down the organization. But disfellowshipping because one no longer wishes to purchase the time share he was sold on, thereby returning his free disney tickets is wrong. Wait, I digress again. Disfellowshipping TOTALLY makes sense in a high control organization. Pretend you never read any of what I just wrote.

HELP! How do I FADE without being DF'D??
by doubtful ini'm in a tough position.
i gave my last talk as an ms a couple of weeks ago, and i haven't been out in field service in well over a month.
i "came out" to the closest people in my life...namely my gf and mother...i was also recently asked to step down from being a servant - largely because my heart was no longer in it and i couldn't stomach going from door to door peddling magazines and other literature full of lies and logical fallacies.

how to "fade" without being DF'd. You probably know the answer to that better than most, after all, you were a MS. You probably know of a few who have "faded" but never got DF'd. What did they do in order to accomplish this task?
As far as sanity goes, just look at it as do most people in THEIR religion. Start calling the meetings "church", and you'll see how that helps to objectively put things in perspective. Rank and File Catholics are keenly aware of the flaws of their religion, yet they still are Catholics, even if they only go to Mass once a year. Nominal Mormons can be pretty normal, too. Or they'll say, "I grew up Mormon" or Baptist, Pentecostal, etc. Same can go for you.
Point is, I never recommend going full out in your (not you specifically, but others on the forum) quest for "freedom" because the price you pay might be more than what you're getting. If you don't like your family, go ahead, go full out. If you can, walk the line. Search the forums for how to avoid disfellowshipping. Some legal stuff you can do. If ever the Elders wish to meet with you, insist on having someone accompany you. If they say "no" then you say, "no". See what I mean? Realize that the collar has been broken, and your head hasn't blown up (Running Man reference). Take a martial arts class, increase your view of self worth, esteem, etc. And stick to your decisions. Above all, be nice, be courteous, be sweet. You'll see they'll give up on you.

I never even became an MS. Many times it was pressed on me. I guess "holy spirit" prevented me, heh. I had every privilege you could think of without actually becoming an MS and acquiring those responsibilities. I was never recommended because my service time didn't average over 10 hours a month on a consistent basis. Also, I think it was seen that I didn't have patience (hence my name, ha) for decisions that relied too much on bureacracy rather than action. I also was self-righteous and followed the rules as much as I could, thereby clashing with the PO's son and friends who were basically PKs.
As for the guy who said his reading assignments were taken away and replaced with a sister, no offense to you personally because I don't even know you or if this even applies, but maybe you just weren't a good enough reader. Gawd, that's one thing that totally urked me, the amount of readers who... well... just couldn't read. That's what you get for discouraging education, right? Seriously though, they chose readers based on service time or basically any qualification OTHER than abilitiy to read well for an audience. Made me zone out every time and in my head I'd fast forward to the end. How to deal with the stress mounted from poor reading and consequently a boring study? Video games!

I have always wondered about things like this, even when completely indoctrinated. A friend of mine had his car broken into during the Public Talk or Watchtower Study one Sunday and I couldn't help but wonder why Jehovah's Holy Spirit couldn't stop that. I've heard all kinds of reasonings like persecution or unforeseen occurrence or sign of the times, etc. But the Israelites allegedly never had to get new shoes during their 40 year trek in the wilderness because of God's protection. I finally got the answer I sought in the form of the words found in the Jim Caveziel version of "The Count of Monte Cristo." The warden says, "God has nothing to do with it."
This kind of violence is completely unacceptable and it's a form of bullying, especially when these brutes know that over 90% of JWs would have no idea how to defend themselves in an attack (which is another thing that has always bothered me - the discouragement of learning self-defense). Did they actually expect any form of real physical retaliation?
Acts like these against God's people are another hint as to why they are not specially chosen. Whatever happened to "he who touches you touches the pupil of my eye" or however that scripture went? The CRAZIEST thing is, during times of serenity, it is proof of God's protection. During times of persecution, it is proof of Satan's direct assault against God's people. Post hoc or cum hoc, take your pic. (if you're not familiar with these terms, now would be a good time to google them, latin in origin, good reading).
Anyway, I think it countries where JWs are either outlawed or viciously persecuted, it wouldn't hurt for the attendants to learn CQC.

July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

This series of articles truly comes as no surprise to me (or most people here, I'm sure). I was once the target of a witch hunt, and through that experience I have learned that yes, these articles WILL work for the majority. I do not believe that this series of articles is going to push people over the edge and unwittingly motivate them to start thinking for themselves. They're afraid of taking that red pill.
When the questions arise, they feel a lot like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole, and not everyone is comfortable with that, so they immediately take the blue pill fix and stay in Wonderland.
How many times have we read an article in the WT and think, "Wow, now the people are REALLy going to leave?" But nope, those so deep in stay in. The ones who leave are the ones who would have left anyway due to some character trait they couldn't control. And on this note, unless I start seeing some real evidence to support the notion that the WT GB has ulterior designs other than being so fully indoctrinated themselves, I will believe otherwise. I truly believe that the GB is a group of sad man who have devoted everything to a cause that is not coming to fruition and constantly delude THEMSELVES and the people in their "care" to keep it going. They MUST think that they're God's people as Messiah Complex ridden as that is, because it's like the Illuminati and Freemason NWO conspiracies: If you KNEW that this was all just a scam and you were going to DIE at the end of your days with nothing afterwards, why not cash out NOW and enjoy what time you have left in this pitiful little existence most of us call life instead of thinking, "Well the Illuminati / Masons / WT Leaders 50 years from now will reap the benefits"? If the conspiracies are true, why wouldn't the GB members be like, "Ok, it's time, I'm going to Tahiti and spending the rest of my good days in REAL paradise," as opposed to stank Brooklyn, NY. Oh, right, because they "ENJOY" being celibate and controlling masses of people, blah blah. Please, with that kind of power and money they could raise an army and have more fun with a religion that celebrates depravity.
But no, I think they're just as gullible and deceived as the lot of them are. Just that they're the ones receiving crazy visions from a detached source.
Still, I'll have to agree that it is a dangerous cult, solely for the fact that those "born in" have no frikkin choice on the matters. Usually by the time they get the courage to wake up and leave, the best of their years have passed by and opportunities are missed (truly the reason most stay in). The whole blood issue, divorce thing, college thing, all that stuff the WT embeds can be harmful, unfortunately. This in turn breeds a type of personality that I believe would otherwise have not been developed in some cases.
All that said, though, the witch hunt trials will soon begin. Hmm.

The Three Phases Of "The Truth"
by Kensho ini had a discussion one day with my son about "the truth" i stated the truth is fluid it is always in motion never as black and white as we would like to think because as humans we are always growing and learning new things (hopefully).. ridiculed-violently opposed-becomes self-evident are the 3 phases that are seen when any new discovery in science or breakthrough technology first appears.
the following is what i surmize are the 3 main phases jw's go through when faced with the real truth.
(from personal experience).

How the Good work of Russell became the curse of the Watchtower today

claims of christianity based on the bible.. exposing error was the gimmick.. replacing doctrine or ritual with door to door activity was the greatest failure to follow truth where it leads.. .

Kensho, I do believe that some KH libraries still have those old books and possibly bound volumes. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that there's probably some old books in your KH library. Like Quentin said, wine and "ROSES". May the "GRACE" of God be with you.
Yes, there is a riddle here, it is solvable, and it will lead you to what you seek. I can't be any more candid that this because of the WT trollers. heh.
Nothing is true. Everything is permissible.
