Thoughts?

there are those who have left the jws and become athiest/agnostic/skeptic.

some would say those people have had their faith in god so shaken by the corrupt, man-made religion of jws that they have fallen into confusion and need to be shown the "right" way.. then there are those who have left the jws and found another version of christianity they feel is the proper way to worship the god of the bible.

some would say that those people have only swapped one religion for another and have failed to realize the greater truth that there is no god or that you can't know for sure which religion is correct.. i'd like to hear who people think is right and why.. and the more important question:.

Hi Adam,

While I never joined the JWs I was still shocked to find out the truth about the WT. I had reached a point of checking out the various denominations in Christianity and when I finally got to the point of discovery re: the WT, well I stepped back and looked at the Big Picture. Namely the bible.

I spent many a painful hour at H2O watching the bible being hotly debated. I was of the believer crowd and wanted desperately for someone to come up with a credible explanation of the horrors in the bible and how such a book could be of God. I never saw one, still haven't. It really made me re-evaluate the whole faith thing. Just what was it I had faith in? I didn't like what I came up with. I have a greater faith in myself and the Greater Good than I ever could have in anything else cause I have seen good reason for it.

I've dumped the baggage that comes with being a believer but not until I was able. Some never are able, some never even want to give it a thought. To each his/her own. I only have a problem when someone promotes their beliefs in such a way as to belittle those who don't believe the same. Or using dishonest tactics. That's just asking for it.

Rweconciling with My Life Long Friend

july 1966: my best friend (ken) and i had known each other since 1956, when i was 5 and he was four.

we did everything together, play cars and toy armies, cowboys and indians, trick-or-treating, movies, swimming, disneyland, sleep-overs, boy scouts, camping, long talks, sneaking cirgaettes, getting caught, and we even had a few fist fights and yelling matches.

but we were more than friends, we were as close as brothers.

You are the picture of reconciliation these days eh? Well it's been great reading your posts about these issues. Thanks for sharing them, they are quite touching. I hope they may inspire some others here to cosider doing the same.

i've seen loads of live acts, back when i was a "young person asking" i watched the crystals, heinz, johnny kid and the pirates, brenda lee, joe brown and others all on one show.

so very innocent!.

come my eventual departure from dubdom, i resolved to see all these bad people playing their music live.

Great live performers:

Tom Petty
James Taylor
Neil Young

There are others I'd like to see but doubt I ever will. No really memorable concerts from bands in my younger years, saw Van Halen, Ted Nugent, U2, tons of others, saw Prince back when my frined and I were the only white faces in the audience, it was a fun concert, wouldn't do it again. Too old and tired. Oh and the Pretenders were pretty good live. Countless others, grew up near Detroit, big concert circuit stop.

My current favorite is a promising violin virtuoso I have the honor of hearing private concerts from almost daily....my beautiful and talented daughter, Christine. Julliard (I should probably learn to spell it eh?) will never be the same after I get her in there.

us, a civilized or a barbaric country?

i am fully aware i might upset some people on the board by asking what i do in this thread, and i wouldnt be surprised if someone would accuse me of attacking americans again.

i do, however, have a reason for asking and my question is an honest one.

HI Kent--

Yes, we do have welfare systems here. Every state is different and I can tell you it is a sorry ass situation. Single, healthy men are very unlikely to get aid cause there are so many crappy paying, no benefit jobs available.

I can say though that some years ago, beofre the "reforms" of late, I used the system for a short while as it was intended and it saved us from freezing and starving in the end. I guess too many abused it though so the Haves became outraged, like always.

We have two serious problems that fuel the others here Kent, one is ignorance and the other is apathy. Too many are ignorant of what life can be like for some and many of those who have a clue don't care. One can't halp but crack up to hear some moron bragging about what a "Christian nation" we are. LOL

two of this board's, and h2o's before it,long time and well known participants have fallen on desperately hard times.

if they could set up pay pal accounts and enough of us could contribute say $20 - $50 per month it would help them though their hardship.. these two people have helped many escape from the wts and i know for sure have given money and other material help to those in need, even when they could not afford it.. if you can help, send an email to: [email protected].

you need not include any particulars of who you are etc, just an indication that you could support this and how much you could send.

For the Record:

Some of us have done things for Farkel privately back when the first wiffs of trouble were in the air. Some of us Old Warriors reacted quickly and privately without all the publicity. We don't feel the need to make the world aware of our good deeds and shouldn't be criticized or suspected the worst of for our quiet methods.

Shameful of anyone to ASS-U-Me anything on such matters. Unless you know about anything done quietly just sit down and enjoy a nice big glass of Shutthefuckup.

I wrote you a reply a short while ago but I do not know where it is. It went something like this--

Kind words, thank you. I think sometimes my very plain-spoken style is taken more harshly than it is meant to be, especially by the softer skinned among us (like you). I too am very soft-hearted but I have thicker skin.

We have different styles of communication but we meet on common ground regarding the situation of our friend Farkel. I am sure that you, like myself, hate to hear of anyone enduring real hard times (as too many are all the time) but it's worse when it's someone you care about--I know.

Thank you for your gracious words and I reciprocate the sentiment. And a BTW--I have been meaning to tell you, I like your signature.
