My view too, exactly. Well said Joel.
Julie
in past posts i have placed god on trial by questioning two issues: 1) the issues in the graden of eden, and the severe punishment of the entire human race for a very minor act of eating fruit.
2) god ordering the extermination of entire cities, including every last man, woman, child, baby, and even livestock.. results: the result on this forum have be mixed as expected, but showed a range from suport to tryuionmg top explain these events with reasoning, logic, or plausibilities.
some felt that i might be losing my faith.
well, a post on the good ol days got me thinking about the vehicles people drive and why.
in the jws, a vehicle had to be appropriate for service, four doors, holding at least five.
i remember back in 1978 i bought an mgb and the brothers had a fit (hehe), i was selfish, etc.,.
i was speaking with a man the other night on yahoo and he gave me a few verses to compare.. a while back i gave my copy of the nwt to a friend who came in contact with jw's quit often and wanted to used it to compare scriptures.
anyway, could someone please look up these scriptures and compare them to the nwt and post the differences?
i was told that the nwt omits parts of these verses.. matthew 18:11 luke 4:8 john 8:9 acts 8:37/23.9 romans 13:9. thanks in advance.. "i don't want someone in my life i can live with, i want someone in my life i can't live without.
Hi Lilacs--
Matthew 18:11 -------- (really, that is what is there)
Luke 4:8 In reply Jesus said to him: "It is written, 'It is Jehovah* your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'"
John 8:9 In the NWT John Chapter 8 begins with verse 12
Acts 8:37/23.9 37:------- 23:9 So there broke out a loud screaming, and some of the scribes of the party of the Pharisees rose and began contending fiercely, saying: "We find nothing wrong in this man; but if a spirit or an angel spoke to him, ---."
Romans 13:9 For the [law code], "You must not commit adultery, You must not murder, You must not steal, You must not covet, and whatever other commandment there is, is summed up in this word, namely, "You must love your neighbor as yourself."
There you go Lilacs.

take a break.... close your eyes.....and go back in time.... before the internet and dvd's.
before semi-automatic machine guns, joyriders and crack .... before sega, ps2 or super nintendo...way back..... i'm talking about hide and seek in the park.
the corner shop, hopscotch, butterscotch, skipping, handstands, football with an old can, bulldog, beano, twinkle and roly poly, hula hoops, jumping in enormous puddles and building dams... when astro wars, 'computer' tennis, pac-man and donkey-kong ruled.... the smell of the sun and fresh cut grass.
Great post, really delightful walk down memory lane, thanks Nic. We also played an almost nightly game of "keep-away". All the neighborhood kids, pretty much set-for-life teams, the field was made up of four or five next-door-lawns--keep ball from other team was the only objective. Much running, screaming and general excitement. So simple yet greatly anticipated and passionately played.
Personally I would add swimming and bikes to your fabulous list and it would be complete for me. Bikes were to us as kids what cars are to adults.
Really loved, remembered and miss this.....
Remember when.... Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo."
this.....
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
and this...
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly".
Great fun Nicolaou
Julie, who is fortunate she lives where her kids can still do that stuff

Dearest Farkel,
I for one was touched by the initial post of yours in this thread. As I commented to one friend via e-mail, it was delightful and it was like our old Farkel was back (you know, the one I fell in love with long ago). Nevermind the naysayers (like I need to tell *you* that).
Ah Teejay,
You know another thing I have noticed about you and those who seem to think just like you is this: You don't use swear words so you feel you have the Very High Moral Ground on certain issues. In reality though you guys hit below the belt, twist words to no end, many jump on one all the time, and you retreat in the most cowardly way from insults that you hurl as soon as you are called on them. Personally I will take a plain-spoken, honest, forthright sort of soul (evenif it means swera words) over your personal brand of Upright Communication anytime.
I see you demanding Proof from Farkel that he is a nice guy. My but the standards of proof with you fluctuate like the Dow does these days. On one hand a word about those you don't like is "all you need" (no proof required) but when someone tries to reconcile with the board for harsh words in the past, by God you need proof of sincerity. Thanks for unwittingly helping me make my point about you. It seems to be another thing you and your friends have in common. I make point about you and you all insist on helping me to prove them right. I guess all I can really say is Thank You.
For the Record for All:
Yes indeed Farkel did some serious insult hurling for a time. We who have known him for some time knew this was not his usual way in times past. Think what you will of this really nice post he has written but we who have been around a long time welcome it as our old friend returning to his Real Mindset. We also take it as a sign he is recovering from the traumatic events he has been slammed with. I should hope anyone would be glad to see any human overcoming such difficulties. Even if this person has used swear words in the past, and likely will again.
To Prisca,
Indeed, Kent posted your picture here. Indeed it was not right for the sake of privacy. I can understand his motivation, don't agree with his action, and, for the sake of all those troubled-by-silence minds out there, here do publicly declare my disagreement with it.
Regards,
Julie

Hi Teejay,
You are right I did miss your reply in the other thread but it just wasn't there last I checked. I am getting a pretty good handle on this new system of Simon's.
For all your words back to me Teejay there are really only two things I have to say in reply to you.
First, when I say something less than pleasant to someone I say it because I mean it and I do not back away when called on it. You won't ever see me say something to someone, something less than positive, and then see me later saying "I was just kidding" or "it was rhetorical/tongue in cheek". Ever. If I am making a joke I always make it clear from the start.
It seems this is a point of difference between us.
Second and lastly, I see you imitating me, the highest form of flattery they say. Thanks for the compliment.
Julie

Hi there Bboy--
You said:
Julie, I bet you can't order a big mac at mcdonalds without punching the poor mcdonalds guy in the face for putting the pickles on the wrong way.
Wrong on all counts oh insightful one.
I am very generous and gracious with people who make honest mistakes.
I no longer support the fast food industry after reading all the damage it and the supporting industries have caused. Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, highly recommended.
I am opposed to violence.
I am also opposed to snide remarks disguised as "jokes" and statements/baseless assumptions being dismissed/excused as "rhetorical". None of which has anything to do with honest mistakes, as you mention in your pathetic hypothetical.
Just an FYI,
Julie

Hey Farkel,
Good post. You're sorta doin' a Father Farkelucci thing eh? Go and sin no more? Well I'll take a whack at it. Right after this anyway....
Teejay, You quoted Farkel:
Face it, I'm screwed up,...
You replied:
I happen to believe you are absolutely right.
How slimey of you to kick someone as they are just getting back up and you know it. Don't give me any of your "it was rhetorical/tongue-in-cheek" nonsense either. As I said to your Pal Dannybear earlier, today is not the day we award points for Classic Dodges, so save yourself the keystrokes. I've already dealt with this tactic of yours today, of course you never answered. Predicatable.
Keep on showing your true color Teejay (and we aren't talking skin here, to your dismay no doubt).
Julie
ok guys and girls,.
we have recently had a "crush" thead to which many of you responded with such enthusiasm.. but what about "love"?.
who is "in love" with someone on jw.com???.
there are those who have left the jws and become athiest/agnostic/skeptic.
some would say those people have had their faith in god so shaken by the corrupt, man-made religion of jws that they have fallen into confusion and need to be shown the "right" way.. then there are those who have left the jws and found another version of christianity they feel is the proper way to worship the god of the bible.
some would say that those people have only swapped one religion for another and have failed to realize the greater truth that there is no god or that you can't know for sure which religion is correct.. i'd like to hear who people think is right and why.. and the more important question:.
Hi Adam,
While I never joined the JWs I was still shocked to find out the truth about the WT. I had reached a point of checking out the various denominations in Christianity and when I finally got to the point of discovery re: the WT, well I stepped back and looked at the Big Picture. Namely the bible.
I spent many a painful hour at H2O watching the bible being hotly debated. I was of the believer crowd and wanted desperately for someone to come up with a credible explanation of the horrors in the bible and how such a book could be of God. I never saw one, still haven't. It really made me re-evaluate the whole faith thing. Just what was it I had faith in? I didn't like what I came up with. I have a greater faith in myself and the Greater Good than I ever could have in anything else cause I have seen good reason for it.
I've dumped the baggage that comes with being a believer but not until I was able. Some never are able, some never even want to give it a thought. To each his/her own. I only have a problem when someone promotes their beliefs in such a way as to belittle those who don't believe the same. Or using dishonest tactics. That's just asking for it.
Just my 2 cents worth--
Julie
