  My theory about the behavior and obsession of some ex-JWs

  i've had this theory for some time and alluded to it occassionally but have never explored it in detail.. it is of course a huge generalisation so no, not everyone will fit into the boxes and i'd like people's opinion.

  i don't know everyone's circumstances so it's based on a small sample of some of those i do know something about.

  it could be completely wrong, it's just an idea.. basically, i have seen a difference between some of those ex-jws who walked out vs those who were kicked out.. the most bitter and obsessive seem to be the kicked out and, i must add, those who were legitimately kicked out.

  While you were washing toilets at your Kingdumb Hall I was figuring UV DNA lesions and repair mechanisms. While you were washing windows, I worked on a software for polipeptide synthesis and protein conformation. While you were driving to your meetings, I isolated a novel pathogenic organism from human tissue. And while you were peddling Washtowers and disecting words in a forum, I isolated DNA from an organism that scence believed was not actually alive.

  You and Simon state that all DF'd members deserved it because of XYZ, I don't give a damn for your XYZ as it is a stupid blanket statement, as your reasons to justify it. If you saved more than one neuron from your indoctrination, wipe your drool, and MAYBE consider the possibility that some publishers were born into it, never had choices, and have been peged to the floor by the elders and repeatedly raped with regulations.Or at least beguin to realize that JW sexual abuse victims and relatives do have a grievance, regardless of your faulted silogisms on complying to assumed voluntarily chosen rules.

  You have the intellect of a hammer and that much usefullnes. Good bye.

  Your condescenting comments are amusing at best. Here's one for you: I have never been a JW, Hillary. So between the two of us, who is the ignorant asshole that got sucked into a cult? (How do you like this generalization, Hillary?)

  I am amazed that you can speak at all with your lips so tight to Simon's butt; here it marches Sir Simon with a stupid blanket statement reeking of superiority and having figured human nature, and you two hide behind a cult's rule book that disqualifies any feeling instead of considering humanity and vulnerability.

  Ever experienced the terror of an imminent violent death (DF) ? Sure any little girl deserves it, no matter what she did....... the rules are the rules. She was born into it so she knew it and deserves whatever comes her way via heavenly Brooklyn. She is absolutely not entitled to suffer of post traumatic stress disorder...because Simon said so. The JW child abusers are also operating under your beloved rule book when they claaim repentence, and their victims are not entitled to anger or frustration because Simon said so......and because Hillary uses red ink in her posts.

  The kicked-outs I'm thinking of are those where there were good reasons to kick them out based on the rules in place.

  It seems to me that you are the ignorant one as you actually bolded the wrong section of the sentence and completely and utterly missed the point! Why you should do this evades me. Either you did not understand what was being said, or you chose not to understand, but the meaning is quite clear if you read the sentence with care.

  For your information, I have actually highlighted in red the point that Simon was making.

  Yes, Hillary, the WT rules set in place are absolutely perfect as they are, they are a pure and direct command from Jehovah and presented to us by his direct mediator, the WT. These rules to DF or not to, of course are implemented with heavenly perfection, without bias and we are all so gratefull for it.

  Therefore, according to Hillary's Tao, if the WT has done anything unpleasant to us, we deserve it. And don't you even think of criticizing the celestial rules on lovin' shunning.

  The kicked-outs I'm thinking of are those where there were good reasons to kick them out based on the rules in place. So, it could be because of drugs, morality issues or whatever.

  Simon, sometimes you can be a perfect ignorant asshole.

  i have found these 14 characteristics of a typical cult and below are some questions regarding the behaviour of a cult.

  my personal opinion is that the watchtower society fits into most of these characteristics, with the exception of 1& 14. possibly part of number 10 fits, but not all.

  i feel that all of the questions posed should be asked of jw's and all of the further symptoms apply too.

  seems to say that all we can hope to find are patterns in things.

  But if that is true, why is one way of explaining a pattern worse than others.

  That quote you mention is a small minded and false perception of what science is about.

  Science does not attempt to "uncover truth", but attempts to explain the physical workings of our universe. Science, by design, when it can not measure a phenomenon it not labeled as untrue. By phenomenon i do not mean faith, but all the different physical manifestations our universe.

  The statement above seems written by a creationist or religious zealot trying to discredit the objectivity of science.

  ok, i'm not a person who takes what i see on tv as "real" but that was pretty darn mind blowing.

  the guy walked on the hoover dam lake, people were coming into the water, checking out the water underneath him to make sure he wasn't walking on something and it appeared he was not.

  holy crap, i watched in complete disbelieve yet thinking, how could you pull that off as an illusion?
