  Being called brother/sister in public places

  how did you like being called brother or sister, when you were in public.

  i remember once i was inside a bank waiting in line, and all of a sudden , a brother also waiting in line, said to me quite loud, hello brother x .

  i felt like a jerk, being called brother in front of everyone there.

  I also hated being called sister Jursnick out in public. My daughters friend always referred to me in that way and I told her she could just call me Laura but she kept on calling me sister!!!!

  i am new to all of this, even tho i have not been going to the meetings for nearly 4 years now, through the basic hypocrisy that i faced and the witch hunt i have had to put up with over the last few years.

  because i dare to expose the bent dealings of a car salesmen, who happened to be a p>o> i tried to ignore all of this and thought let them get on with it.

  my wife continued going to the meetings, and was shunned the whole 4 years, despite both of us being very active members of the cong.

  The Night the Elders called me.

  hey all,.

  left the org approx.

  one month ago, so i'm freshly out and still working my way through the depression of losing my three best friends... but anyway, not important, what i was wondering was if any of you got this line from the elders the night you went to meet with them... so here's my story, take it or leave it.. i'm a homosexual, i've known since i was young, not raised in "the truth" but converted when i was seventeen, four years ago... anyway, i suppressed it, etc, until i decided that i wanted to leave the org.

  Michelle my ex wife leaves the witnesses

  ive just finished talkin on the phone to michelle my ex wife she has decided she has had enough.

  she has told them they all suffer from anxiety and paranoia because of the literature.

  thursday night is actualy her last night and michelle has written a letter saying she is very upset about the current literature because of its manipulative nature.. michelle is not one for letting the grass grow underfoot and has already made contacts with christian life ministries a charismatic group for her new spiritual home.

  1. it's a big surprise if they give you a direct answer.. 2. if you corner them they will resort to one of three things: 1) say the scripture is a bad translation (of course the verses they quote are always perfect translations); 2) they change the subject; 3) they start playing word games with you.. 3. many of them view traditions and other writings by famous jws as having more authority than the word of god.. 4. their doctrine completely conflicts with bible doctrine.. 5. the watchtower is their head (athough the bible says christ is the head of the church)

  How did you feel about 'fake' witnesses?

  i'm sure you know the ones i mean ... they decided to have a family 'present day' on dec 26th each year so that the kids could announce what presents they got while the rest of us 'zealots' were getting the piss taken out of us.. at the time, i could not understand how or why they did it or got away with it - it seemed obvious to me that thwy were celebrating christmas and we were not supposed to.

  but hell, what did i know ... i was only a kid ... not an elder .

  now, i kind-a-think "yeah, do what's right for your kids" but also "you're not fooling anyone!

  I was guilty of doing that. I had parties over Christmas break with I love you presents. Once on December 24th !!! I had a big party for all the kids in the Brighton Congregation. One elder even dressed up like a clown and did magic tricks !! No one said a word to me and the elders who had kids all came. I was new in the truth so maybe they cut me some slack. I really never thought I was celebrating what ever holiday was near. I did it simply to try and make things easier for my kids.

  my last attempts at posting were to no avail so i'm just going to test this out first and they edit and post something else.-it worked.. i have been reading a lot of the material on this website and find most of it interesting.

  i'm still a witness but have some questions about bible/doctrine that haven't been answered to my satisfaction.

  it seems that when i discuss things with people (i.e witness elders) they more or less don't listen to my arguements.

  Spousal Abuse Thoughts

  i have been having an ongoing discussion with a friend about spousal abuse.

  she has come to accept and believe that i have never hit a woman in my life, but feels that i am a rarity.

  i contend that i am not, that although too many men still hit their wives, they are in the minority.

  I've been married 13 years. My husband has hit me, kicked me and even spit in my face. I've often fantasized about leaving but I honestly feel stuck. I grew up in an abusive home. A counselor once told me that you marry whats familiar..............how true. Sometimes I think I'll leave but then I wonder WHERE????? I don't have family that I can move in with and apartments are expensive. Financially I don't know how I'd do it in my own. My husband wouldn't make things easy. Its a situation that is hard to explain. Cassie and Sentinel both had great posts that I appreciate. I wonder how women do leave . Where do they go?
