Which Bible to get?

i was just wondering: never in my life have i owned (or even read) a bible other than the nwt.

i really wish to study the bible but really do not wish to use this version.

after seeing the plethora of bibles out there i was wondering if there is any person here who can give me an un-biased opinion on which bible to get.

Yes I do understand those scriptures and as you have mentioned and from the scriptures in my last post including this one in JOHN 10: particularly verses 16& 27....

There IS a voice that our master uses. ALthough it is NOT audible, we must open our spiritual ears to hear. JOB 34:13-17 tells us when we are likely to be able to hear without distraction.

Yes, although what IS SCRIPTURE is from that voice that his servants heard and wrote down (had to hear something to write books)
that voice can and will speak to us anytime we are willing to hear and put faith in it. Most don't though! We've been taught any voices we hear are the demons. If demons which are lower than our master can communicate with us, how much more so could not the creator by his son do so.?

There are also books that were written by faithful ones under inspiration that did NOT make it as part of the bible cannon.
If that were the ONLY way God communicates to us, wouldn't he have seen to it that those books were part of the Bible.?

I would politely tell them to read JEREMIAH 23 & EZEKIEL 34 and say that even if they were sincere, they could NOT help me. As they are described in these chapters, it is the main reason why the sheep are behind the door instead of at the meetings, thank you!

your information is paraphrased in the "Insight Volumes" and the "Watchtower"!!??

Please STOP relying on "uninspired" utterances to see truth.
It is NOT there and NEVER will be. That being the case....why don't you put your trust in ANYTHING ELSE that is mans interpretation/paraphrasing/translation?

As to the recommendation from Ozzie on this post my dear one, PLEASE PLEASE heed the warning at REVELATION 18:4 to "Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to SHARE with her in sins and RECEIVE her plagues."

Praise Jah! He has released me and my immediate family from slavery to man, his ever-changing laws, lack of natural affection and burdens from the WTBS.
As WE try to walk by faith, worship in spirit and let LOVE dominate in our lives (most of the time try too lol)
Jahs law will remain on our hearts and not on stone tablets for you who need the organization. (a golden calf to worship)

Appreciate your sharing all the WT quotes.
But honestly, by adhering to the law (old) not new covenant puts this organization in the same boat as the jewish sysytem of things.

Christ came and fulfilled that law. They rejected it!
Christ came to show a surpassing way of love. They rejected it!
Christ came and showed we are to love even our enemies and pray for them. They rejected it!
Christ came first to the house of Israel as gods chosen people to invite them first into a new covenant leading to life, not one of death. They rejected it!

Therefore, Jah rejected them! Yes disfellowshipped them as a nation!
Remember, "You house has been abandoned to you!"

So, now,the shoe is on the other foot for the WTBS!
Praying for mercy, forgiveness and showing love to ALL should be a priority on their list.
Not condemming and casting stones.

Amen to those scriptures about the old law and adherance to it.

When we understand that love bears, believes, hopes and endures ALL things....LOVE NEVER FAILS! There is NO law against law!!

NO LAW! Galatians 5:23!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO LAW
NO WATCHTOWER
NO BOOKS can tell us we cannot show love to someone.
We do not have to condone and share in a particular sin with ANYONE, but we are still under obligation to show love to that one. Whether love prompts us to tell our brother he is headed in a dangerous direction, or whether we are to be there when called upon.

WE ARE NOT HERE TO CONDEMN. That is NOT our ministry nor our purpose in life. The WTBS FAILS grossly in realizing this. Therefore, because of this, they have determined their own judgement!

Where they continually lack mercy, love and forgiveness, it will not be shown to them. This aint about us and now.
There's a big picture and a future. And ALL will stand before the judgement seat.

WOW! What a chapter.

If only the WTBS could "see" just how hypocritical and hateful they truly are!

What does Jah truly expect from us as to "fasting' 'sacrifice' 'sabbath'and 'true worship."

For those INSIDE that think its ok to SHUN ANYBODY including your own flesh (relatives), please read this chapter.

How Israel still forgets their God, his covenant, and true mercy through love.

Notice THIS verse in the NWT (others even read better)

ISAIAH 58:7 "Is it not the dividing of your bread out to the hungry one,and that you should bring the afflicted, homeless people into your house? That in case you should see someone naked, you must cover him, and that you should not HIDE YOURSELF FROM YOUR OWN FLESH?"

(another translation reads, "Do not hide yourself from your relatives who need your help.")
It NEVER says, UNLESS of course they are disfellowshipped.

Why must they HATE, be so unmerciful, show no compassion, no love or pity for so many people including themselves?
Why is it they cannot LOOK IN THE MIRROR, stop casting srones, stop preaching condemnation and start loving?

I know I know the answer

have you noticed that god's name seems to be getting shorter and shorter in magazines and in witness talk??

it went from grand titles like "the heavenly merciful sassified one" to "jehovah god" and now "jah" it's jah this and jah that.

it's like the witnesses have been taken over by rastafarians.

Well.....

They've been dong a lot of surfin on the net and on these sites. They see us use that name freely, being his name, and they need something they call "food at the proper time." (Psalms 68:4 in THEIR bible) Notice all the final chapters of the book of Psalms.

You don't think they come up with "stuff" on their own.
Anything so-called 'new' is regurgetated (sp?) and the other stuff is to keep folks up to speed with the exposure through the media, internet, television, legal departments etc...
Preparing them like THEY came up with it.

...."Now friends....be prepared for outward and subtle attacks from apostates ALL AROUND THE WORLD. They don't like the fact that we expelled them for speaking truth. So don't be surprised at some of the NEW objections you find out in the ministry."

Blah blah blah.....

Which Bible to get?

Thank you for your kind response. I hope I am understanding correctly what you mean, Yes, to rely ONLY on what is written can lead to distortion. Being mislead possibly.

But I must kindly disagree that how God speaks to us is yes, through "THE WORD" but it is NOT written. It is "the living word of God" "the true bread from heaven that feeds us."

HEBREWS 4:12
JOHN 1:1 and 1:14 "The Word became flesh and resided among us as the only-begotten."

Revelation 19:13 "He is arrayed with an outer garment sprinkled with blood, and the name he is called is The Word of God."

Hebrews 1:1,2 "God who long ago and on many occasions and in many ways to our forefathers by means of the prophets, has at the end of these days SPOKEN to us by means of a SON, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the system of things."

It is our lord who speaks to us directly. Hebrews 12:24-25. Yes, through holy spirit, it is translated to us into whichever language we may speak, sounding much like our voice.

why is it that men who study with elders make ministerial servant and elder way ahead of others who have been reaching out for years?.

why do circuit overseers spend all of their time with the spiritually strong and never follow (or set) a christ-like example of visiting those that 'need a physician,' the spiritally weak, like those in nursing homes and irregular or inactive publishers.. jehovah sent his number one son to the earth... the only-begotten.

Thanks for your response and I hope I didn't confuse you much.
Yes 2Timothy 3:16 does say, "ALL SCRIPTURE" is inspired of God and BENEFIAL for 'teaching, reproving. setting this straight, etc etc."

It does NOT say, however, that LIFE is found in SCRIPTURE with these verses. What is written (scripture and letters) LEADS us to the one that gives life. That is why our lord said what he did at JOHN 5:39,40. You know he knew what man and religion down the line was going to do with "the bible."
Confuse poor innocent sheep.

Theses verses in JOHN also shows us that ANYONE regardless of our background, education or place on this earth can come to HIM.
If one can't read and study the bible...NO RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD???
Of course NOT!!!

As far as what is scripture LUKE 24:44-46 tells. At the time Luke was written Revelation wasn't written yet by John, but that was to come shortly.

So you have MOSES, ALL THE PROPHETS (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, (big books) Micah, Amos (small books) etc...., Psalms, and Revelation.

They truly are helpful as Prophecy unfolds, reminders we need from time to time, to be able to teach ones that NEED TO SEE what is written, to help set matters straight, and to able to 'test out what IS inspired.'

And yes, there are books that NEVER made it to the bible cannon that were written under 'inspiration.' We can also thank religion for that. They have a lot to hide. Ever see Stigmata??? Excellent message for those that like to hide and deceive.

Hello to all and to answer the first part of your question.....

It is because these so-called shephards are what is described in JEREMIAH 23 and EZEKIEL 34.
Also they are just like the Pharisees in LUKE 20:46-47 where he says,

"Look out for the scribes who desire to walk around in robes and like greetings in the marketplaces and front seats in the synagogues and most prominent places at evening meals, 47 and who devour the houses of the widows and for a pretext make long prayers. These will receive a heavier judgement."

*Now lets see if they wouuld allow themselves to be housed during a cos visit by individuals that would be viewed down upon. Like sinners, harlots and tax collectors. Jesus did.
Lets see if they would truly be happy with fish and bread. (simple poor budget meal by a widow)

You were so tired you NEVER really paid much attention to it. Then after EVERYONE CLAPPED for 5 minutes. lol lol

As to Paul and ALL his writings.
Yes, he was a zealous brother of ours. But notice his letters were NOT written under inspiration. They were letters, commendation, readjustments to the congregations etc...
Yes he does mention things that were given him by the spirit, but his letters or books were not "written under inspiration" as was...
Moses, Psalms, Prophets and Revelation. (Luke 24:44-45)
Paul was just like one of us who have received holy spirit and on occasion speak of our flesh and not of our spirit. And yes there is a danger. That is why we daily receive correction and discipline and HIS sons. But as long as we are still in the flesh as even Paul mentions, "What we wish to do is not what we find ourselves doing."
