  Stem cell transplant and the JW

  i have been coming here several months now..reading the posts and sometimes posting myself.my question to ask of all of you is this: if a jw was diagnoised with cancer and he/she needed a stem cell transplant in order to survive.what would the jw do in that situation?

  would they carry on with the transplant when a donor was found or would they seek other methods of treatment?

  what is the blood issue regarding jw?

  today, april 20th, is the fourth anniversary of a very special day in my life.. the anniversary of my rebirth.. this rebirth was not a religious experience, but it was something totally pure, amazing and healing.. it had nothing at all to do with the society, or rather, of freeing myself from it.

  it was however, a giant first step in that direction.. today is the fourth anniversary of the day i got letter that changed everything.

  the words on the pages were alive, and magical: they released me from my old life and for the first time.

  having been brought up in the organization since age 3, the only memory of a birthday celebration i had was an old photograph of when i was 2. in front of the camera was my sister and i, with a cake baked in a regular rectangle cake pan, frosted, and with two candles sitting on top.

  Why do they ask us to stand up?

  i have a question.

  at the beginning of each meeting at the kingdom hall, the chairman invites us to find our seats and be seated.. after we have got ourselves comfortable and all is (reasonably) quiet, the meeting chairman then invites us to stand and sing the opening song.. does anyone else find this a bit strange?

  why are we invited to sit, then before we've done anything else, we're invited to stand.. just seems odd to me.

  i am preggers.. just left the doctor's office and my hubby's office.

  i dropped the little plastic thing-a-ma-jig off, and he said, "what's this?

  are you pregnant?!?!?!?".

  trying to understand

  i'm 18 and my boyfriend is 16 and an active jw.i'm a baptist and very stong in my belief and love of god.my boyfriend and i haven't been together that long but were very serious and plan on getting married (when the time is right).we both know that we have no intentions of raising our children jw but as baptist and he tells me that he wants to get out of jw but right now its very hard for him because he still lives with his parents and his mother and oldest sister are very active jw.and i understand all that its just that because i love him so much i want to understand about his life and the way he was raised and what he was raised to believe but hes made it very clear that he doesnt want to explain it or talk about it hes told me some stuff but very little.i'm just wondering about their beliefs and what the jw's have to say about us dating and just any information anyone can provide!!!

  sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important.

  we may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just something nice for no reason.. charles plumb, as us naval academy graduate, was a jet pilot in vietnam.

  those of us who spent a good portion of our lives as slaves to the printing corporation in brooklyn do well to reflect on our achievements.

  we have managed to break the cult shackles and get past the guilt barrier.

  we are building happy, successful lives.
