  yes.. have we made stupid guesses about some of the prophecies, as all churches do?.

  yes.. does our "organization" make mistakes- as, you guessed it, all do?.

  i read with great interest that some believe in christ but notnecessarily the authenticity of the bible... could you please elaborate on that?

  i have to admit i am very interested in where people have ended up after leaving the wt.

  i am on that road and enjoy seeing where people have followed it.

  Let me say I have enjoyed reading the responses and I thank Shelby, tec, Doughnuthole and everyone who took the time to respond. My question though remains... I keep hearing you say that the bible is only a guide, that it is not infallible , it is only the recollections of men etc.ect... my problem is still that all we know about Jesus comes from the bible. Consider.. you mentioned that you compare these communications with the lord to what is in the bible... but again, you dont believe the bible is completely accurate.. so what is the "gold standard"? if you compare these voices you hear to something that you say you dont believe is completely accurate... what is the yard stick by which you judge the truthfulness of the inspired utterance? again, I understand nothing is certain in life, but if we are directed to compare the utterance, and the word we compare it too is not perfect... i'm at a loss to know how you can be sure what you hear is from the lord.

  scary statement made by elders' wife

  so a few months ago i went with my family to meet for field service (ugh i hate it!!!).

  so while we were meeting for service, an elders' wife began to talk about the 'great' spiritual food the fds had gave us at the recent dc.

  she went on to say regarding info that the fds gives out "we have to follow it,even if we dont understand it, even if we dont agree with it.

  Just got off the phone with Mr. Classic. Really really good to speak to him. As Men we owe a debt of gratitude to our wifes and all they do to help facilitate friendships and keep in touch with people. thank you so much for relaying to him my little Innocent post that I was in Brooklyn in the 90's. Your thoughtfulness has really made my day. It is so encouraging to speak with old friends who have woken up and walked the road I am just starting to travel. talking with the Mr for few really built me up and helped strengthen me for what lies ahead. A thousand thank your's Mrs classic!

  Yes indeed. I think what makes it so... "wow" for lack of another word, is that I never would have guessed. When you are both at bethel, the "best of the best"you wouldn't think that both of you would end up on the same message board... too too much... the odds that the both of us ended up here and nowand figured it out based on a random mention that we both were in brooklyn in the 90's...
