Child beating
by Quillsky insome posters here still attend jehovah's witness meetings.
my challenge to you is..... next time you see a parent beating a human child in public at the kingdom hall, when there are two witnesses - you and one other - call 911 or the police, and report the parent by name, for child abuse..

Could They Dump The Assemblies?
by metatron inmy theory continues to be that the governing body will be forced to break down the organization piece by piece.. so, i wonder: could they dump the assemblies?.
it is clear - that they are having some problems in this area.
they are selling off assembly halls in some countries, they have moved some district assemblies to assembly halls (to save money on rent) and the pleas for donations from the platform have not let up.. while zombie witlesses may drag themselves to meetings and out in service (with whatever literature/magazines the watchtower manages to afford) indefinitely, i watch this area with interest.

never happen. They make money. Concider (this has all been laid out by people far more eliquent than me) but, most if not all assembly halls are paid for. Here in the Washington D.C. area we just got done (six months ago) building a TEN MILLION doallar building. Its paid for. YET every assembly there are "expenses incured with the assembly" in the amount of eight thousand bucks!! really? in a building that is TOTALLY PAID for??? the power, electric and taxes do not come to 8,000 bucks EVERY weekend of the year.. that money goes to the branch. They are TOTAL money makers. Our CA NEVER come up short. There is always a "deficit" on sunday at noon that miraculously gets made up before the end.

I have trained both my kids just as I have my dogs. I love my dogs\s and have NEVER had physically touch them in a cruel way. It works. They are all different. They simply have to understand, though CONSISTANT example, that you are in control. Your standards can't be flexable or wishy washy. however, That dosent mean you are rigid or treat every situation the same. you also have to teach them, just as a dog does its pups, to be independant one step at a time. Balance in all things. Beating them is not balanced, even when done "in a spirit of love". However, as mag and a some others noted, a little slap on the rear to get the attention is not a beating. But not every child needs that or even responds to it. all about the individual..

by easyreader1970 inas i see it, there are three looming threats that all have the potential - individually or combined - to bring the wbts to its knees, at least in the united states, anyway.. 1. youth retention.
the young people aren't buying it.
the watchtower will argue that faithless young people are giving in to demonic persuasion and leaving the truth.

I hate to point this out in the midst of so much optimisum about the orgs demise, however, they have survived 100 years. I mean damn, how many times can one org be wrong or flip flop and still GROW???? Really, it is scientific. Nature abhors a vacuum. there are at least 7 million people who NEED leadership that the org gives. The position of alpha jw prohphet and visionary will only be vacant until the vacuum is severe enough for it to fill. I'm dont view this as pessimistic, simply as reality. I have 100+ years of history to support this. If i'm wrong first round is on me.. if not, "we" (those who are "awake") keep informing and waking one mind at a time. there are already more former than those in. The war is done no matter if they fly the white flag or not. I think they will limp along and some will always be content to limp with them

Do you consider yourself to be quiet or outgoing?
by mrsjones5 insomething someone said on one of the popularity topics got me to wondering who on the board is quiet and who are the outgoing ones in real life.
i'm a quiet person in real life, takes me a while to warm up to folks that i just meet, but if i really like a person my rarely used gift of gab comes out.. how about ya'll?.

How does your congregation feel about the new song book?
by stuckinamovement ini stopped trying to sing the songs last meeting.
it felt like a combination of chanting and stepping on a cat.
it is terrible.

i absolutly REFUSE to sing. Period. I used to be the loudest (and worst). Now when I'm on stage even, i litterally just stare blankly. I will not sing this dreck. I though it would grow on me but it is, (read this in a charles barkley accent) terrible. terrrible terrible terrible
the congregation as a whole is noticably more quite. no one seems to like them. The few i have talked to try to but a nice face on it but always back to "it will just take time to get used to".

yep. there was a theif when I was there in the early 90s in brooklyn. A very good friend of mine was "fingered" as "the" theif (i'm sure he WAS NOT) and was sent home with NO EVIDENCE or PROOF, only speculation. After he was gone of course the thefts continued. after seeing how someone could be treated so badly with one person acting as judge and jury, that was the start of my exit from "the house of god"
