Thanks Barbara. Good reminder to not be angry with my mom for her shunning me and my sister. She is doing it because she thinks it is God's will and without doing it the whole belief system will fall like a house of cards. She's too old to start over I think.

"Coping with Shunning" by Barbara Anderson
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://watchtowerdocuments.org/coping-with-shunning/.
by barbara anderson.
when my husband and i left the religion of jehovah’s witnesses (jws), we, like countless others, lost family members and friends because of the witnesses shunning doctrine.

IBSA (Watchtower UK) property portfolio for sale
by betterdaze inbehold: ibsaproperty.com“the extensive ibsa property portfolio in north london is now being brought to the market.”ibsa moved to the leafy london suburbs of mill hill in the late 1950’s.
since then, expansion has required the acquisition of further properties in the immediate area, and in some cases further beyond.
in recent years, relocation to a single site which would offer greater economy of operation became more than a matter of interest, and in 2014 a suitable site in chelmsford, essex was purchased.

Look at those apartments, looks like they were freshly renovated before being put of for sale.

The 1914 doctrine: How long it will last?
by opusdei1972 inone hundred years have passed and the society still supports this lie, which of course, is the basis of their other lies, like that of the unfaithful and not discreet slave appointed in 1919. however, i wonder, what will happen after 50 years, when the overlapped generation will pass?.
and if you want, what will happen with this religion in 2100?, could it survive with the same lie??
?.

They won't get rid of 1914 any time soon. This is in the Nov 2016 WT Study edition. There have also been recent WT studies where the first sentence in the article treats 1914 as a proven fact.
Malachi 3:1-3 describes the time —from 1914 to early 1919—when the anointed “sons of Levi” would undergo a period of refinement. (Read.)
During that time, Jehovah God, “the true Lord,” accompanied by Jesus Christ, “the messenger of the covenant,” came to the spiritual temple to inspect those serving there. After receiving needed discipline, Jehovah’s cleansed people were ready to take up a further assign- ment of service. In 1919, a “faithful and discreet slave” was appointed to provide spiritual food to the household of faith. (Matt. 24:45) God’s people were now free of the influence of Babylon the Great. Since that time, by Jehovah’s un- deserved kindness, his people have con- stantly been growing in knowledge of God’s will and in love for their heavenly Father. How grateful they are for his blessing![1]

The elusive song 151 makes an appearance.
by SadElder inthe missing song 151 now titled "the revealing of god's sons" shows up with the september edition of tv.jw.
no words or score on the jw page yet.
can't say that it sounds any different than any of the other songs they produce now.

Its related to the new light to be announced at the annual meeting next month. God's anointed "sons" are going to be 'revealed' to be all Christians, not just 144,000.
We can only hope, since this would wake up many thousands

Can baptism be considered a legal verbal agreement?
by StarTrekAngel inbased on the requirements set forth and the questions answered at the end.
i believe this question has been asked before.
the fact that you can only be expelled after having been put under this oath of allegiance and that you have witnesses to you making this agreement ( i remember my name was shout to the crowd when i entered the pool ).. if it can be considered so, would there be a legal ground to say minors can not enter this agreement?.

Legality has nothing to do with it. WTBS makes the rules and decides who gets to play and how. -

Low Day For Me Today
by pale.emperor inhi guys.
it's been about 4 or 5 weeks since i was disfellowshipped.
so far it's been easy, i enjoyed being left alone, no one bothering me, no one telling me i need to do more, need to reach out, questioning why i didnt go on the ministry, and the fact that my ex-wifes family cant talk to me even if they wanted to.

pale.emperor, they don't want you around, I don't know why you keep going back for more punishment. Move on with your life and start living life as a man.

Are they either leaving or going full on 'cult mode'? No quarter.
by punkofnice init might just be me imagining things.. i hear things from my jw spies.. from all that's being said, it seems to me that the rank and file(tm), are either waking up to the scam and fading/leaving.
they are going full on 'cult mode' and acting like 'spiritual police'.. is it just me and my imagination?
have others noticed this?.

Phats if you know your bible then it is easy to pick apart any of the JW teachings. The bible is not so complicated it cannot be read by the common man. I suggest you get a decent bible translation (I like the NIV) and start reading on your own. I like the Beroean Pickets site for reasoning on the scriptures on many topics - meletivivlon.com
Good luck!

Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap
by HiddlesWife ini'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.
anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.
they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

There are about twice as many sisters as brothers in the org. Because of this brothers are able to marry way out of their league in the org.

Song 146 - You did it for me
by Listener inthe watchtower 1970 4/1 emphasis the principle that singing at the kingdom hall is part of worship to god and is one of the most beautiful ways they can show this worship to him.. of all the ways in which we can worship and praise jehovah god—by prayer, by public talks, by our field ministry and by our exemplary conduct—one of the most beautiful of them is this literal singing of songs to jehovah’s praise....and, above all, let us pay more than usual attention to the words.
it is by the words that we worship jehovah god, bringing praise to him.
as an introduction to song 146, jw org states -jesus considers any act of love and support for his anointed brothers as though it were done for him.

This was new light in March 2015 Study WT - "Loyally supporting Christ's Brothers"
I posted my thoughts at https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5085516542246912/sheep-goats-light-gets-brighter
It really is disturbing the direction the organization is headed. The other song is 108, singing praises to the anointed and calling for the "other sheep" to support them.
